Relieving the Overloaded Help Desk: A Knowledge Management Approach
The establishment of an organizational help desk (HD) is to provide technical support to users when they encounter technical problems related to hardware, software and network connections. Due to the lack of resources, users often have to wait for a considerably long time before their enquiries and problems are answered and solved. This paper discusses the background of HD and its existing challenges. The application of Knowledge Management (KM) techniques and Knowledge Management System (KMS) enables HD to manage its knowledge effectively. In addition, the combination is capable of relieving the overloaded HD by shifting some of the troubleshooting responsibilities to users

An Ontology-based Collaborative Knowledge Management Network to Enhance the Reusability of Inter-organizational Knowledge
A number of knowledge management (KM) approaches based on individual organizational KM strategies and business requirements have been developed without taking system interoperation into consideration. In this paper, a collaborative inter-organizational KM network is proposed to allow various organizations to access and retrieve inter-organizational knowledge. While knowledge engineers can reuse the inter-organizational knowledge to create and evaluate its own organizational knowledge, general users benefit from the effectiveness and efficiency of searching for relevant inter-organizational knowledge within the networ
Effect of laser-welding parameters on the heat input and weld-bead profile
Laser butt-welding of medium carbon steel was investigated using CW 1.5 kW CO2 laser. The effect of laser power (1.2 - 1.43 kW), welding speed (30 - 70 cm/min) and focal point position (-2.5 - 0 mm) on the heat input and the weld-bead geometry (i.e. penetration (P), welded zone width (W) and heat affected zone width (WHAZ)) was investigated using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The experimental plan was based on Box-Behnken design. Linear and quadratic polynomial equations for predicting the heat input and the weld-bead geometry were developed. The results indicate that the proposed models predict the responses adequately within the limits of welding parameters being used. It is suggested that regression equations can be used to find optimum welding conditions for the desired criteria
The Effect of Sodium on the Catalytic Activity of ZnO-Al2O3/ZSM-5 and SnO-Al2O3/ZSM-5 for the Transesterification of Vegetable Oil with Methanol
In order to elucidate the effect of sodium on the activity of ZSM-5 supported metal oxides catalysts (ZnO-Al2O3/ZSM-5 and SnO-Al2O3/ZSM-5) for the transesterification of soybean oil with methanol, ZSM-5 supported metal oxides were prepared with and without sodium hydroxide by impregnation. The metal compositions of the ZSM-5 supported metal oxide catalysts and the metal concentrations dissolved from the catalysts to the methylester phase were measured by SEM-EDS and inductive coupled plasma spectroscopy, respectively. The catalytic activity of ZnO-Al2O3/ZSM-5 and SnO-Al2O3/ZSM-5 containing sodium did not originate from surface metal oxides sites, but from surface sodium sites or dissolved sodium leached from the catalyst surface
Effects of Preparative Parameters on the Structure and Performance of Ca-La Metal Oxide Catalysts for Oil Transesterification
The effects of preparative parameters on the surface basicity, composition, and transesterification activities of several Ca-La metal oxide catalysts were investigated. Four different preparation methods: ammonia-ethanol-carbon dioxide precipitation, physical mixing, impregnation, and co-precipitation, were studied. It was found that the ammonia-ethanol-carbon dioxide precipitation method resulted in the highest BET specific surface area, base strength and base site concentration. Moreover, catalyst surface composition and basicity are a function of calcination temperature, precipitants, pH, and molar ratio of Ca to La in precursor solution, and storage conditions. XRD, XPS, basicity and BET tests revealed that catalyst structure and dispersion of Ca species strongly influenced the catalyst activity. High surface concentration of Ca species, strong base strength and high concentration of base sites, and high specific surface area are characteristics of an active transesterification catalyst
Bulk Filling Branes and the Baryon Density in AdS/QCD with gravity back-reaction
We consider the gravity back reaction on the metric due to the baryon density
in effective ads/qcd model by reconsidering the role of the charged AdS black
hole. Previously it has been known that the U(1) charge is dual to the
R-charge. Here we point out that if we consider the case where is
completely filled with flavor branes, the gravity back reaction produces
charged AdS black hole where the effect of charge on the metric is proportional
to . As a consequence, phase diagram changes qualitatively if we allow
finite: it closes at the finite density unlike the probe brane
embedding approach.
Another issue we discuss here is the question whether there is any chemical
potential dependence in the confining phase. We consider this problem in the
hard wall model with baryon charge. We conclude that there is a non-trivial
dependence on the chemical potential in this case also.Comment: 17 pages 3x2 figures, v2: references added;v3 published version,

Equations of State in the Brans-Dicke cosmology
We investigate the Brans-Dicke (BD) theory with the potential as cosmological
model to explain the present accelerating universe. In this work, we consider
the BD field as a perfect fluid with the energy density and pressure in the
Jordan frame. Introducing the power-law potential and the interaction with the
cold dark matter, we obtain the phantom divide which is confirmed by the native
and effective equation of state. Also we can describe the metric gravity
with an appropriate potential, which shows a future crossing of phantom divide
in viable gravity models when employing the native and effective
equations of state.Comment: 23 pages, 7 figure
