Development Aid Beyond 2015? : Aid Effectiveness Evaluated by World Bank Indicators and Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) – A Trend Benchmarking Study in Kenya, Tanzania and Sub-Saharan Africa

In many academic analyses of foreign aid, the provision of development assistance has been considered to represent an international extension of domestic welfare efforts. Development assistance represents one mechanism for the redistribution of global wealth. Providing development assistance is one tool in fighting against poverty and various development problems like illiteracy, health problems and inequality. In a way development aid is an extension of welfare policy. Especially Nordic countries and the Netherlands have had this kind of approach to the planning of development aid. This article focuses on Sub-Saharan Africa as well as Kenya and Tanzania. There two research themes. Firstly, an evaluation of effectiveness of aid allocation for Kenya and Tanzania is presented and these evaluations are compared to general trends of Sub-Saharan Africa. Official Development Assistance (ODA) by definition refers to financial flows having economic development function and welfare improvement in developing countries as their main objective. In this study ODA transfers are analysed and their effectiveness are evaluated. Secondly, a benchmarking analysis of Millennium Development Goals and associated World Band indicators are reported. The European Union accepts the MDGs as a primary reference point, with poverty eradication serving as an overarching goal of development cooperation. Benchmarking Analysis of Patent and Trademark Applications in the European Union: A Comprehensive Eu Innovation Policy Evaluation for Years 1960–2013

This study provides benchmarking analysis of patent and trademark applications in the European Union. The objectives of benchmarking are (1) to determine what and where improvements are called for, (2) to analyze how other nations achieve their high performance levels, and (3) to use this information to improve performance in favor of the EU Internal Market. The benchmarking study provides benchmarking results about (1) patent applications of residents and nonresidents, (2) trademark applications of residents and nonresidents, (3) total patent applications, and (4) total trademark applications. The study also provides benchmarking analysesabout patent and trademark application in relation to population and gross domestic product. The results of benchmarking cover the time period 1960–2013. The study provides some comparative statistical analyses and discusses whether there has been convergence in patent and trademark activity in the European Union. The study identifies top 10 champions in the differentcategories of patent and trademark activity. Key results will be reported in the forms of descriptive statistics, Pareto charts, and key statistical indicators. Some special indicators of innovation activity will be reported. The study provides some policy relevant results for the EU Internal Market development

Tulevaisuudet ja hedelmällinen toisin ajattelu: oppiminen, kasvatus, opetus

On tunnettu tosiasia, että eri yhteisöt ja yhteiskunnalliset toimijat voivat olla joko pelisääntöjen muuttajia/haastajia (game changers/challengers) tai vastaavasti pöydän toisella puolella tämän haastamisen kohteita (the target organization of game chang‐ ers/challengers). Muutoskyvykkyyden osalta on siis tehtävä kaksi tärkeää peruskysymystä: 1. Olemmeko kyvykkäitä haastamaan alan toimintatapoja ja olemaan aktiivisia toimijoita muutosprosesseissa? 2. Olemmeko kyvykkäitä ottamaan vastaan organisaation ulkopuolelta tulevia haasteita ja tunnistamaan haastajia? Organisaation muutoskyvykkyys mitataan strategisten linjausten ohella monenlaisissa arjen käytännöissä näiden kahden kysymyksen kautta. Ensimmäinen kysymys liittyy ensisijaisesti organisaation sisäiseen muutoskyvykkyyteen ja toinen taas organisaation ulkopuolelta tuleviin, usein yllättäviinkin muutoshaasteisiin ja -paineisiin. Niin yksilön kuin yhteisön uudistumiskyvyn kannalta olennaista on muun muassa kyky asettaa visioita ja tavoitteita, sisukkuus ja sinnikkyys, organisaation verkostoitumisaste, kommunikaation laatu ihmisten välillä, positiivinen ilmapiiri, aktiivinen testaustoiminta, sidosryhmien kanssa tapahtuva vuorovaikutus, erilaisten idea–keksintö–innovaatio-ketjujen hallinta (ml. innovaatioiden suojaus) sekä rohkeus ajatella ja toimia toisin! Viisasta on yhdistää klassisen sivistyksen ja osaamisen hedelmiä rohkeaan, ennakkoluulottomaan tulevaisuusajatteluun. Pysähtynyt, jähmettynyt ja halvaantunut organisaatio ei pysy hengissä pitkään. Sen vuoksi tarvitaan luovaa toisin ajattelua sekä elävää, valpasta ja ketterää tekemisen meininkiä! Näin asiat voidaan nähdä myös koulutus- ja kasvatusalalla, joka eittämättä on 2020-luvullakin isojen muutosten keskellä ja puristuksessa. Tieteen uudet tulokset ja teknologiakehityksen digitalisaatioaallot muuttavat koulutuksen toimintaympäristöä joka päivä – joskus nopeastikin – koronakriisin aikana koetun digiloikan tavoin. Monen organisaation ja yhteisön avainhaaste on keksiä itsensä ja paikkansa maailmassa uudelleen niin tänään, huomenna kuin ylihuomenna.</p
