Half-Skyrmions and the Equation of State for Compact-Star Matter
The half-skyrmions that appear in dense baryonic matter when skyrmions are
put on crystals modify drastically hadron properties in dense medium and affect
strongly the nuclear tensor forces, thereby influencing the equation of state
(EoS) of dense nuclear and asymmetric nuclear matter. The matter comprised of
half skyrmions has vanishing quark condensate but non-vanishing pion decay
constant and could be interpreted as a hadronic dual of strong-coupled quark
matter. We infer from this observation combined with certain predictions of
hidden local symmetry in low-energy hadronic interactionsa a set of new scaling
laws -- called "new-BR" -- for the parameters in nuclear effective field theory
controlled by renormalization-group flow. They are subjected to the EoS of
symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter, and are then applied to nuclear
symmetry energies and properties of compact stars. The changeover from the
skyrmion matter to a half-skyrmion matter that takes place after the cross-over
density provides a simple and natural field theoretic explanation for
the change of the EoS from soft to stiff at a density above that of nuclear
matter required for compact stars as massive as . Cross-over
density in the range 1.5n_0 \lsim n_{1/2} \lsim 2.0 n_0 has been employed,
and the possible skyrmion half-skyrmion coexistence {or cross-over} near
is discussed. The novel structure of {the tensor forces and} the EoS
obtained with the new-BR scaling is relevant for neutron-rich nuclei and

Eleven-dimensional massless superparticles and matrix theory spin-orbit couplings revisited
The classical probe dynamics of the eleven-dimensional massless
superparticles in the background geometry produced by N source M-momenta is
investigated in the framework of N-sector DLCQ supergravity. We expand the
probe action up to the two fermion terms and find that the fermionic
contributions are the spin-orbit couplings, which precisely agree with the
matrix theory calculations. We comment on the lack of non-perturbative
corrections in the one-loop matrix quantum mechanics effective action and its
compatibility with the supergravity analysis.Comment: 11 pages, Latex, no figure
Ten Dimensional Black Hole and the D0-brane Threshold Bound State
We discuss the ten dimensional black holes made of D0-branes in the regime
where the effective coupling is large, and yet the 11D geometry is unimportant.
We suggest that these black holes can be interpreted as excitations over the
threshold bound state. Thus, the entropy formula for the former is used to
predict a scaling region of the wave function of the latter. The horizon radius
and the mass gap predicted in this picture agree with the formulas derived from

Information Diffusion Power of Political Party Twitter Accounts During Japan's 2017 Election
In modern election campaigns, political parties utilize social media to
advertise their policies and candidates and to communicate to electorates. In
Japan's latest general election in 2017, the 48th general election for the
Lower House, social media, especially Twitter, was actively used. In this
paper, we perform a detailed analysis of social graphs and users who retweeted
tweets of political parties during the election. Our aim is to obtain accurate
information regarding the diffusion power for each party rather than just the
number of followers. The results indicate that a user following a user who
follows a political party account tended to also follow the account. This means
that it does not increase diversity because users who follow each other tend to
share similar values. We also find that followers of a specific party
frequently retweeted the tweets. However, since users following the user who
follow a political party account are not diverse, political parties delivered
