    13.4 % Efficiency from All-Small-Molecule Organic Solar Cells Based on a Crystalline Donor with Chlorine and Trialkylsilyl Substitutions

    How to simultaneously achieve both high open-circuit voltage (Voc) and high short-circuit current density (Jsc) is a big challenge for realising high power conversion efficiency (PCE) in all-small-molecule organic solar cells (all-SM OSCs). Herein, a novel small molecule (SM)-donor, namely FYSM−SiCl, with trialkylsilyl and chlorine substitutions was designed and synthesized. Compared to the original SM-donor FYSM−H, FYSM−Si with trialkylsilyl substitution showed a decreased crystallinity and lower highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level, while FYSM−SiCl had an improved crystallinity, more ordered packing arrangement, significantly lower HOMO level, and predominant “face-on” orientation. Matched with a SM-acceptor Y6, the FYSM−SiCl-based all-SM OSCs exhibited both high Voc of 0.85 V and high Jsc of 23.7 mA cm−2, which is rare for all-SM OSCs and could be attributed to the low HOMO level of FYSM−SiCl donor and the delicate balance between high crystallinity and suitable blend morphology. As a result, FYSM−SiCl achieved a high PCE of 13.4 % in all-SM OSCs, which was much higher than those of the FYSM−H- (10.9 %) and FYSM−Si-based devices (12.2 %). This work demonstrated a promising method for the design of efficient SM-donors by a side-chain engineering strategy via the introduction of trialkylsilyl and chlorine substitutions

    Schema induction builds a graph representation explaining how events unfold in a scenario. Existing approaches have been based on information retrieval (IR) and information extraction(IE), often with limited human curation. We demonstrate a human-in-the-loop schema induction system powered by GPT-3. We first describe the different modules of our system, including prompting to generate schematic elements, manual edit of those elements, and conversion of those into a schema graph. By qualitatively comparing our system to previous ones, we show that our system not only transfers to new domains more easily than previous approaches, but also reduces efforts of human curation thanks to our interactive interface.Comment: 10 pages, ACL2023 demo trac

    Structural and Lipidomic Alterations of Striatal Myelin in 16p11.2 Deletion Mouse Model of Autism Spectrum Disorder

    Myelin abnormalities have been observed in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In this study, we seek to discover myelin-related changes in the striatum, a key brain region responsible for core ASD features, using the 16p11.2 deletion (16p11.2±) mouse model of ASD. We found downregulated expression of multiple myelin genes and decreased myelin thickness in the striatum of 16p11.2± mice versus wild type controls. Moreover, given that myelin is the main reservoir of brain lipids and that increasing evidence has linked dysregulation of lipid metabolism to ASD, we performed lipidomic analysis and discovered decreased levels of certain species of sphingomyelin, hexosyl ceramide and their common precursor, ceramide, in 16p11.2± striatum, all of which are major myelin components. We further identified lack of ceramide synthase 2 as the possible reason behind the decrease in these lipid species. Taken together, our data suggest a role for myelin and myelin lipids in ASD development

    Effects of hydrodynamic cavitation on physicochemical structure and emulsifying properties of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) myofibrillar protein

    The purpose of this research was to explore the different hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) times (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 min; power 550 W, pressure 0.14 MPa) on the emulsifying properties of tilapia myofibrillar protein (TMP). Results of pH, particle size, turbidity, solubility, surface hydrophobicity, and reactive sulfhydryl (SH) group indicated that HC changed the structure of TMP, as confirmed by the findings of intrinsic fluorescence and circular dichroism (CD) spectra. Furthermore, HC increased the emulsifying activity index (EAI) significantly (P < 0.05) and changed the emulsifying stability index (ESI), droplet size, and rheology of TMP emulsions. Notably, compared with control group, the 10-min HC significantly decreased particle size and turbidity but increased solubility (P < 0.05), resulting in accelerated diffusion of TMP in the emulsion. The prepared TMP emulsion showed the highest ESI (from 71.28 ± 5.50 to 91.73 ± 5.56 min), the smallest droplet size (from 2,754 ± 110 to 2,138 ± 182 nm) and the best rheological properties, as demonstrated by the microstructure photographs. Overall, by showing the effect of HC in improving the emulsifying properties of TMP, the study demonstrated HC as a potential technique for meat protein processing
