DataSheet_1_Two new methods for severity assessment of wheat stripe rust caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici.docx

Accurate severity assessment of wheat stripe rust caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici is of great significance for phenotypic determination, prediction, and control of the disease. To achieve accurate severity assessment of the disease based on the actual percentages of lesion areas in the areas of the corresponding whole diseased leaves, two new methods were proposed for severity assessment of the disease. In the Adobe Photoshop 2022 software, the acquired images of single diseased leaves of each severity class of the disease were manually segmented, and the numbers of the leaf region pixels and lesion pixels of each diseased leaf were obtained by pixel statistics. After calculation of the actual percentages of lesion areas in the areas of the corresponding whole diseased leaves based on the obtained pixel numbers, the training sets and testing sets were constructed for each severity class by using the system sampling method with two sampling ratios of 4:1 and 3:2. Then the mean and standard deviation of the actual percentages of lesion areas contained in each training set were calculated, respectively. For each sampling ratio, two methods, one based on the midpoint value of the means of the actual percentages of lesion areas corresponding to two adjacent severity classes and the other based on the distribution range of most of the actual percentages of lesion areas, were used to determine the midpoint-of-two-adjacent-means-based actual percentage reference range and the 90%, 95%, and 99% reference ranges of the actual percentages of lesion areas for each severity class. According to the determined reference ranges, the severity of each diseased leaf in the training sets and testing sets was assessed. The results showed that high assessment accuracies (not lower than 85%) for the training sets and testing sets were achieved, demonstrating that the proposed methods could be used to conduct severity assessment of wheat stripe rust based on the actual percentages of lesion areas. This study provides a reference for accurate severity assessments of plant diseases.</p

Automatic management of cash flow from the perspective of cybernetics decisions can improve work efficiency and accuracy of cash flow management. Disadvantage of traditional fuzzy control method is that it only expresses fuzziness and ignores randomness. The automatic management of cash flow involves variables representing the fuzziness and randomness of human cognition which need new calculation methods to solve. Based on fuzzy control this paper proposes a cloud set control decision method for cash flow management. Cloud set and its I operation and P operation are described. Methods are studied including observation variables and control variables, fuzziness of observation variables and control variables, description of rules, and cloud reasoning based on cloud set. The method is applied successfully in automatic management of cash flow in which control amount of expenditure intensity is -2.285. It is shown that this method can effectively obtain reasonable control quantities considering fuzzy and random properties by the comparison with fuzzy control method. The method for automatic management of cash flow proposed has greater objectivity and effectiveness for the integration of fuzzy and randomness representing human cognition and decision.</div

Robust network topologies for generating oscillations with temperature-independent periods

<div><p>Nearly all living systems feature a temperature-independent oscillation period in circadian clocks. This ubiquitous property occurs at the system level and is rooted in the network architecture of the clock machinery. To investigate the mechanism of this prominent property of the circadian clock and provide general guidance for generating robust genetic oscillators with temperature-compensated oscillations, we theoretically explored the design principle and core network topologies preferred by oscillations with a temperature-independent period. By enumerating all topologies of genetic regulatory circuits with three genes, we obtained four network motifs, namely, a delayed negative feedback oscillator, repressilator, activator-inhibitor oscillator and substrate-depletion oscillator; hybrids of these motifs constitute the vast majority of target network topologies. These motifs are biased in their capacities for achieving oscillations and the temperature sensitivity of the period. The delayed negative feedback oscillator and repressilator are more robust for oscillations, whereas the activator-inhibitor and substrate-depletion oscillators are superior for maintaining a temperature-independent oscillation period. These results suggest that thermally robust oscillation can be more plausibly achieved by hybridizing these two categories of network motifs. Antagonistic balance and temperature insulation mechanisms for achieving temperature compensation are typically found in these topologies with temperature robustness. In the temperature insulation approach, the oscillation period relies on very few parameters, and these parameters are influenced only slightly by temperature. This approach prevents the temperature from affecting the oscillation period and generates circadian rhythms that are robust against environmental perturbations.</p></div
