Quantum Information Approach to Rotating Bose-Einstein Condensate
We investigate the 2D weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a
rotating trap by the tools of quantum information theory. The critical
exponents of the ground state fidelity susceptibility and the correlation
length of the system are obtained for the quantum phase transition when the
frst vortex is formed. We also find the single-particle entanglement can be an
indicator of the angular momentums for some real ground states. The
single-particle entanglement of fractional quantum Hall states such as Laughlin
state and Pfaffian state is also studied.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, minimal changes are mad
The lowest scattering state of one-dimensional Bose gas with attractive interactions
We investigate the lowest scattering state of one-dimensional Bose gas with
attractive interactions trapped in a hard wall trap. By solving the Bethe
ansatz equation numerically we determine the full energy spectrum and the exact
wave function for different attractive interaction parameters. The resultant
density distribution, momentum distribution, reduced one body density matrix
and two body correlation show that the decreased attractive interaction induces
rich density profiles and specific correlation properties in the weakly
attractive Bose gas.Comment: 6 pages, 6figure
Utility-scale Wind and Solar Development in Iowa: Trends, Prospects, and the Land Factor
In 2020, Iowa ranked first in the United States for percentage of state electricity produced by wind energy, which supplied 57% of the state’s net electricity generation (IUB 2022). Conversely, in 2020, solar energy had a limited role in Iowa’s electricity generation, supplying less than 0.04% of the state’s net electricity generation (IUB 2022), which ranked 43rd in the United States.
In this article, we investigate the stark development and generation disparities between wind and solar energy in Iowa. We focus on utility-scale power plants only, meaning that compiled data applies to power plants that have a relatively large nameplate capacity (one megawatt (MW) is often used as a cut-off value)
Effectiveness of simvastatin/aspirin combination in the treatment of coronary heart disease in the elderly, and its effect on cardiac function and levels of inflammatory factors
Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of simvastatin plus aspirin in the treatment of coronary heart disease in the elderly, and its effect on cardiac function and inflammatory factor levels. Methods: Eighty-seven identified elderly patients with coronary heart disease who were admitted to Nantong First People's Hospital, Nantong, China between January 2020 and June 2021 were recruited and assigned at a ratio of 1:1 to receive either conventional treatment (group A) or simvastatin plus aspirin (group B). The clinical endpoint was treatment efficacy. Results: No significant differences were found between the two groups in respect of their baseline data (p > 0.05). Simvastatin plus aspirin was associated with a significantly higher treatment efficacy versus conventional treatment (p < 0.05). The patients, after joint therapy, had more cases of grade I cardiac function and fewer cases of grade III cardiac function, compared with conventional treatment group (p < 0.05). The application of simvastatin plus aspirin resulted in lower levels of triglycerides (TGs), total cholesterol (TC), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) than the conventional treatment (p < 0.05). Simvastatin plus aspirin was also associated with lower levels of interleukin (IL)-6 and hypersensitive-c-reactive-protein (hs-CRP) when compared with conventional treatment (p < 0.05). Furthermore, simvastatin plus aspirin produced a similar incidence of adverse events with conventional treatment (p > 0.05).Conclusion: Simvastatin/aspirin combination therapy is effective in the treatment of coronary heart disease in the elderly. It efficiently lowers glucose levels, lipid metabolism, and inflammatory factors, but enhances the cardiac function of patients
Solar Energy Surge in Iowa: Policies, Public Opinions, and Future Opportunities
In 2022, Iowa ranked first in the United States for percentage of state electricity produced by wind energy, which contributed 62% of its net electricity generation (USEIA 2023a). In contrast, in 2023, Iowa ranks 34th in solar generation, which represents only 1% of its total electricity generation (Glover 2023).
Over the past two decades, solar energy systems have improved in efficiency and declined in cost of installation. At present, solar energy represents the most economical option for electricity generation based on the metrics of the average levelized cost of energy (USEIA 2023b). Given the availability and consistency of high-quality solar natural resources across Iowa, coupled with its cost-effectiveness, solar energy can play a crucial role in attaining Iowa’s established goal of reaching 100% clean power by 2035 (IEC 2021) and further driving down electricity rates.
This article briefly explores the development of solar energy systems in Iowa, describes a range of policies concerning solar energy development at the federal and local levels, and summarizes a sample of Iowans’ preferences for and interest in solar energy systems
