Optimal design of blade parameters for fracturing tea-picking machine

    Get PDF
The blade is one of the most critical components in the fracturing tea-picking machine, and this study is conducted to optimize the blade's working parameters. In this study, the effects of blade width, blade thickness, and cutting angle on the maximum fracturing force of tea stems were analyzed using the L9 (34) standard orthogonal table, with the maximum fracturing force used as the evaluation index. The results indicate that the main factors affecting the maximum fracturing force (MFF) of tea stems are cutting angle (CA), blade width (BW), and blade thickness (BT) in that order. Furthermore, microscopic observation of the fracture surface revealed that compared with the thickness of the other two blades, the thickness of 0 mm caused the cross-section uneven and had lots of burrs, correspondingly resulting in the section's oxidation and the deterioration of tea leaf quality. Therefore, the optimal combination of design parameters was a cutting angle of 90Ā°, a blade width of 2.0 mm, and a blade thickness of 0.5 mm. The findings of this study can provide reference for blade design to reduce the fracturing force of tea-picking machines, lower the working power consumption, and improve the quality of freshly plucked tea leaves

For controlling the entire drying process of a material, it is crucial to understand the moisture ratio of the material in the drying process. In order to ascertain the moisture change rules of kelp knots in the solar-heat pump combined drying process, an analysis was made on the impacts of different drying temperatures, wind speeds and loading capacities on the drying rate in this research; meanwhile, three common drying dynamic models were selected and compared to know their applicability to the solar-heat pump combined drying of kelp knots. Further, the model coefficient was determined and the optimal model was obtained. The results reveal as follows: drying temperature, wind speed and loading capacity have significant impact on and significant correlation (P<0.05) with the drying rate of kelp knots; under different drying conditions, the drying rate is always high in the early stage, lowered and gradually moderate in the later stage. After fitting the drying dynamic model, it is found that among the experimental data, regression coefficient (R2) is the largest in the Verma model, and the sum of squares for error (SSE) and root mean square error (RMSE) are low. This indicates that the Verma model can be used to accurately express and predict the change rules of moisture in kelp knots during the solar-heat pump combined drying. According to Fick's second diffusion law, the effective diffusion coefficient Deff increases with the increase in drying temperature and wind speed, and decreases with the increase in loading capacity

Influence of Frost Protection Windmachine with Continuous Oscillation on Microclimate in Tea Fields

    Get PDF
To verify the influence of frost protection windmachine with continuous oscillation on microclimate, the experimental study was conducted in a tea field in Zhenjiang, China on a typical radiation frost night. Disturbed airflow variation and protection effect were investigated. Airflow velocity of 8 points at different distance from the machine was measured during an oscillation period with an anemometer, and temperature variation of 48 points at different distance from the machine and different height above the ground was measured with temperature recorders. The changes of airflow velocity and temperature were analyzed. Where the velocity was high, the airflow-disturbed duration was as well as large. Airflow velocity at each point presented a trend of rise, fluctuation, and decline under the action of windmachine with continuous oscillation. The temperature rise with the same distance from the machine was close, among which the 10 m and 20 m away from the machine increased greatly. Disturbed airflow enlarged the temperature difference between the top and the bottom of the canopy. The windmachine with continuous oscillation is proved to be effective for tea frost protection and provides more coverage than traditional anti-frost fan with flabellate oscillation

Numerical Analysis of Spreading Process of Ellipsoidal Spraying Droplet Impacting on Superhydrophobic Surface

    Get PDF
Agricultural spray deposition is especially important for pesticide application because low efficiency can lead to environmental pollution, poor biological efficiency and economic loss. The deposition of pesticide spray on the leave surfaces is related to the impact kinetic behavior of droplets. But after considering the deformation of the droplet, how impingement will affect the deposition is an interesting research. In this study, a superhydrophobic surface was used to replace the plant surface that the pesticide droplets may affect. An interface tracking method was proposed to characterize the impingement dynamics behaviors of different ellipsoid droplets impacting on the surface. The maximum spreading coefficient and time of ellipsoidal droplets increased with the raise of their size. A lower sized droplet has a faster spreading rate, while the center of a higher sized droplet is thinner. As the velocity of pesticide increases, maximum spreading coefficient of droplet increases with a decrease in the maximum spreading time of droplet. The simulation results can contribute to provide theoretical basis for improving spray efficiency

Sensible heat and latent heat flux estimates in a tall and dense forest canopy under unstable conditions

A method to estimate the sensible heat flux (H) for unstable atmospheric condition requiring measurements taken in half-hourly basis as input and involving the land surface temperature (LST), HLST, was tested over a tall and dense aspen stand. The method avoids the need to estimate the zero-plane displacement and the roughness length for momentum. The net radiation (Rn) and the latent heat flux (Ī»E) dominated the surface energy balance (SEB). Therefore, Ī»E was estimated applying the residual method using HLST as input, Ī»ER-LST. The sum of H and Ī»E determined with the eddy covariance (EC) method led to a surface energy imbalance of 20% Rn. Thus, the reference taken for the comparisons were determined forcing the SEB using the EC Bowen ratio (BREB method). For clear sky days, HLST performed close to HBREB. Therefore, it showed potential in the framework of remote sensing because the input requirements are similar to current methods widely used. For cloudy days, HLST scattered HBREB and nearly matched the accumulated sensible hear flux. Regardless of the time basis and cloudiness, Ī»ER-LST was close to Ī»EBREB. For all the data, both HLST and Ī»ER-LST were not biased and showed, respectively, a mean absolute relative error of 24.5% and 12.5% and an index of agreement of 68.5% and 80%.This work was supported under project RTI2018-098693-B-C31 (Ministerio de Ciencia, Economia y Universidades of Spain). Frost tends to be detrimental to the growth and development of horticultural crops, leading to yield or quality reduction with sizable economic losses. Therefore, it is very important to develop frost protection technology for horticultural crops. In this study, the development of frost protection technology is reviewed, and the research of mechanized frost protection technology in recent years is analyzed. In view of the poor frost protection effect of some single mechanized frost protection technology, the combination frost protection technology is put forward. The combination frost protection technology with airflow disturbance and sprinkler irrigation is discussed and analyzed

Genomic value prediction for quantitative traits under the epistatic model

    Get PDF
Abstract Background Most quantitative traits are controlled by multiple quantitative trait loci (QTL). The contribution of each locus may be negligible but the collective contribution of all loci is usually significant. Genome selection that uses markers of the entire genome to predict the genomic values of individual plants or animals can be more efficient than selection on phenotypic values and pedigree information alone for genetic improvement. When a quantitative trait is contributed by epistatic effects, using all markers (main effects) and marker pairs (epistatic effects) to predict the genomic values of plants can achieve the maximum efficiency for genetic improvement. Results In this study, we created 126 recombinant inbred lines of soybean and genotyped 80 makers across the genome. We applied the genome selection technique to predict the genomic value of somatic embryo number (a quantitative trait) for each line. Cross validation analysis showed that the squared correlation coefficient between the observed and predicted embryo numbers was 0.33 when only main (additive) effects were used for prediction. When the interaction (epistatic) effects were also included in the model, the squared correlation coefficient reached 0.78. Conclusions This study provided an excellent example for the application of genome selection to plant breeding

Transgenerational Epigenetic Inheritance Under Environmental Stress by Genome-Wide DNA Methylation Profiling in Cyanobacterium

    Get PDF
Epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation are well known as connected with many important biological processes. Rapid accumulating evidence shows environmental stress can generate particular defense epigenetic changes across generations in eukaryotes. This transgenerational epigenetic inheritance in animals and plants has gained interest over the last years. Cyanobacteria play very crucial role in the earth, and as the primary producer they can adapt to nearly all diverse environments. However, few knowledge about the genome wide epigenetic information such as methylome information in cyanobacteria, especially under any environment stress, was reported so far. In this study we profiled the genome-wide cytosine methylation from a model cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803, and explored the possibility of transgenerational epigenetic process in this ancient single-celled prokaryote by comparing the DNA methylomes among normal nitrogen medium cultivation, nitrogen starvation for 72 h and nitrogen recovery for about 12 generations. Our results shows that DNA methylation patterns in nitrogen starvation and nitrogen recovery are much more similar with each other, significantly different from that of the normal nitrogen. This study reveals the difference in global DNA methylation pattern of cyanobacteria between normal and nutrient stress conditions and reports the evidence of transgenerational epigenetic process in cyanobacteria. The results of this study may contribute to a better understanding of epigenetic regulation in prokaryotic adaptation to and survive in the ever changing environment
