Measurement of sin2beta in tree-dominated B0-decays and ambiguity removal
The most recent results from the B-factories on the time-dependent CP
asymmetries measured in B0-decays mediated by b --> c c(bar) s
quark-transitions are reviewed. The Standard Model interpretation of the
results in terms of the parameter sin2beta leads to a four-fold ambiguity on
the unitarity triangle beta which can be reduced to a two-fold ambiguity by
measuring the sign of the parameter cos2beta. The results on cos2beta obtained
so far are reviewed.Comment: 6 pages, 3 postscript figues, contributed to the Proceedings of

Radiative Penguin Decays of B Mesons: Measurements of B -> K* gamma, B -> K2*(1430) gamma, and Search for B0 -> phi gamma
Electromagnetic radiative penguin decays of the B meson were studied with the
BaBar detector at SLAC's PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory. Branching
fractions and isospin asymmetry of the decay B -> K* gamma, branching fractions
of B -> K2*(1430) gamma, and a search for B0 -> phi gamma are presented. The
decay rates may be enhanced by contributions from non-standard model processes.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, presented at the 2004 Meeting of the Division of

Beyond CP violation: hadronic physics at BaBar
I report on recent studies of hadronic physics performed by the BaBar
Collaboration. Emphasis is given to the measurement of the properties of newly
discovered charmed hadrons and to the searches for light and heavy pentaquarks.Comment: 14 pages, 20 postscript figues, contributed to the Proceedings of the

Radiative and Semileptonic B Decays Involving Higher K-Resonances in the Final States
We study the radiative and semileptonic B decays involving a spin-
resonant with parity for and for
in the final state. Using the large energy effective theory (LEET)
techniques, we formulate transition form factors in the large
recoil region in terms of two independent LEET functions
and , the values of
which at zero momentum transfer are estimated in the BSW model. According to
the QCD counting rules, exhibit a dipole
dependence in . We predict the decay rates for ,
and . The
branching fractions for these decays with higher -resonances in the final
state are suppressed due to the smaller phase spaces and the smaller values of
. Furthermore, if the spin of
becomes larger, the branching fractions will be further suppressed due to the
smaller Clebsch-Gordan coefficients defined by the polarization tensors of the
. We also calculate the forward backward asymmetry of the decay, for which the zero is highly insensitive to the
-resonances in the LEET parametrization.Comment: 27 pages, 4 figures, 7 tables;contents and figures corrected, title

Nonleptonic charmless two-body decays
In this work we have studied hadronic charmless two-body B decays involving
p-wave mesons in final state. We have calculated branching ratios of
decays (where and denotes a axial-vector and a tensor meson,
respectively), using form factors obtained in the covariant
light-front (CLF) approach, and the full effective Hamiltonian. We have
obtained that ,

in experiments at factories. Additionally, we have found that
and
ratios could be useful to determine numerical values of mixing angles

Studienlandschaft Schwingbachtal: an out-door full-scale learning tool newly equipped with augmented reality
This paper addresses education and communication in hydrology and geosciences. Many approaches can be used, such as the well-known seminars, modelling exercises and practical field work but out-door learning in our discipline is a must, and this paper focuses on the recent development of a new out-door learning tool at the landscape scale. To facilitate improved teaching and hands-on experience, we designed the Studienlandschaft Schwingbachtal. Equipped with field instrumentation, education trails, and geocache, we now implemented an augmented reality App, adding virtual teaching objects on the real landscape. The App development is detailed, to serve as methodology for people wishing to implement such a tool. The resulting application, namely the Schwingbachtal App, is described as an example. We conclude that such an App is useful for communication and education purposes, making learning pleasant, and offering personalized options
Physics at the B Factories
We review recent progress at the two B factories. The first
measurement of CP violation and the prospects for measuring all the angles of
the unitarity triangle are discussed.Comment: To appear in the Proceedings of From the Smallest to the Largest
