Phase Transitions in Isolated Vortex Chains

In very anisotropic layered superconductors (e.g. Bi2_2Sr2_2CaCu2_2Ox_x) a tilted magnetic field can penetrate as two co-existing lattices of vortices parallel and perpendicular to the layers. At low out-of-plane fields the perpendicular vortices form a set of isolated vortex chains, which have recently been observed in detail with scanning Hall-probe measurements. We present calculations that show a very delicate stability of this isolated-chain state. As the vortex density increases along the chain there is a first-order transition to a buckled chain, and then the chain will expel vortices in a continuous transition to a composite-chain state. At low densities there is an instability towards clustering, due to a long-range attraction between the vortices on the chain, and at very low densities it becomes energetically favorable to form a tilted chain, which may explain the sudden disappearance of vortices along the chains seen in recent experiments.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figure

Josephson vortices and solitons inside pancake vortex lattice in layered superconductors

In very anisotropic layered superconductors a tilted magnetic field generates crossing vortex lattices of pancake and Josephson vortices (JVs). We study the properties of an isolated JV in the lattice of pancake vortices. JV induces deformations in the pancake vortex crystal, which, in turn, substantially modify the JV structure. The phase field of the JV is composed of two types of phase deformations: the regular phase and vortex phase. The phase deformations with smaller stiffness dominate. The contribution from the vortex phase smoothly takes over with increasing magnetic field. We find that the structure of the cores experiences a smooth yet qualitative evolution with decrease of the anisotropy. At large anisotropies pancakes have only small deformations with respect to position of the ideal crystal while at smaller anisotropies the pancake stacks in the central row smoothly transfer between the neighboring lattice positions forming a solitonlike structure. We also find that even at high anisotropies pancake vortices strongly pin JVs and strongly increase their viscous friction.Comment: 22 pages, 11 figures, to appear in Phys. Rev.

Methods for Predicting Prospective Needs for Specific Product Types

    No full text
The paper proposes a method for determining the future needs of the market in helicopter technology. Its feature is the construction of a forecast for the quantitative values of helicopter supplies in a specific market segment based on the generated list of indicators and factors affecting demand. The method allows us to evaluate and determine the potential market share available in the future for the manufacturer, which is necessary to set the optimal performance of the production program and when planning production as a whole. The described method can also be applied to other complex high-tech products. Its flexibility allows for some adaptation in terms of clarifying the list of indicators and factors affecting the dynamics of market demand for specific products

Searching for an Innovative Model of the Future Energy Development with Respect to Digitalization

The research rationale is a significant increase in the need for energy resources and their irrational use. The world should follow the path of implementing the innovative energy concept. The basis of its long-term development is not only mining, production, and export of traditional energy carriers, but also their substantial rationalization based on the latest scientific achievements, which would ensure the development of a new energy system and provide energy consumption quality while maintaining the indigenous environment. The global future development vision of the world energy buildout should be based on the predicted changes in the economy and the consumer society, which form the demand for energy products and services, as well as on its defining requirements, setting its social and political development priorities. The possibilities of changing the global energy system (financial, organizational, and technological), which is forced to adapt to qualitatively new demands, cannot be overlooked as well. Even the most developed states’ efforts are not enough to solve this task in case if they are single forces. The whole world community should be concerned about this and mobilize resources for building the innovative energy future. An urgent task is the institutional regulation of energy conversion processes on an interstate scale, attracting the world scientific potential to solve its strategic development tasks, searching for new breakthrough energy sources and nonstandard technological solutions, developing the energy-saving culture among energy producers and consumers. This would allow to increase the various energy types production, reduce losses, work steadily, move to such a work with fair competition conditions in the free energy services market. The research purpose is to present a systemic, global vision of ways (a) to create a new model for the sustainable energy development, which would be based on a qualitative change in the energy potential; (b) to ensure sustainable development of territories, energy security, and energy digitalization; (c) to change the structure of energy sources; (d) to preserve the indigenous human environment and industry intellectual potential; (e) to ensure the competent use of alternative and small power energetics; (f) to form the technological and organizational base of innovative energy. The article materials can be practically used by power engineers and economists, politicians, state and municipal authorities, educational institutions, and all those interested in the issues of innovative energy development. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020

The concept of minimally invasive surgical treatment of trigeminal nerve neuralgia, developed by L.Ya. Livshits, allowed developing an original method of puncture surgical treatment of pain syndrome by directed hydrothermal destruction of the sensitive trigeminal root. The concept of “growing radicalism” created by Professor L.Ya. Livshits allowed his students elaborating algorithms for treating severe chronic pain syndromes of any localization and etiology. An important stage in the creative biography of L.Ya. Livshits began his work on a doctoral dissertation. The thesis was dedicated to the surgical treatment of resistant to drug treatment of forms of trigeminal neuralgia. Method - directional hydrothermal destruction of its sensitive root by inserting a needle into the meckel's cavity through the oval opening of the outer base of the skull. As a physical factor of destruction, boiling distilled water was used, which was introduced fractionally, the total volume was 1.5 ml, and the interval between the individual portions reached 3–5 minutes. In the process of the procedure, the trigeminal nerve was electrostimulated to evaluate the effectiveness of the manipulation

IMPROVING PLANNING TOOLS FOR RESOURCING A HIGH-TECH CORPORATION

The planning tools for resourcing a high-tech corporation allow to answer the question of the sufficiency of the corporation resourcing in the context of the necessity for advanced development. The proposed approach allows to plan the resourcing of a high-tech corporation with due consideration of the trends in the changes in the required resourcing over the year or other arbitrary time samples observed in the statistical data
