The Interaction of Management with Botanical Composition of Irrigated Grass-Legume Pasture Mixtures in the Intermountain West USA

    Get PDF
Beef produced on semi-arid range and milk produced in confinement are the main agricultural commodities in the semi-arid western USA. The studies reported here were undertaken to determine the suitability of irrigated pasture as an alternative to traditional beef and dairy production systems. The clipping and grazing studies were not run concurrently or within the same field, but were successive steps in selecting mixtures best-suited for rotational stocking of irrigated pastures in the Intermountain West. Summaries of productivity data have been reported elsewhere (MacAdam, 2002; MacAdam et al., 2004)

    Anti-Pasch optimal packings with triples

    Get PDF
It is shown that for v ≠ 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, there exists an optimal packing with triples on v points that contains no Pasch configurations. Furthermore, for all v ≡ 5 (mod 6), there exists a pairwise balanced design of order v, whose blocks are all triples apart from a single quintuple, and that has no Pasch configurations amongst its triples

This report summarizes on-farm performance of irrigated silage corn hybrids at Benson (Cache County) in 2006. The site is at 4439 ft elevation and has a long-term average of 2800 corn growing degree days (50/86° F) per year. Hybrids were seeded with a six-row planter on May 10 at approximately 35,000 seeds/ac into Kidman fine sandy loam. Plots were six rows wide at 30-in row spacing by 1070 ft long in three randomized complete blocks
