The stability analyses of the mathematical models of hepatitis C virus infection

    Get PDF
There are two mathematical models of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) being discussed; the original model of HCV viral dynamics (Neumann et al., 1998) and its extended model (Dahari et al., 2007). The key aspects of the mathematical models have provided resources for analysing the stability of the uninfected and the infected steady states, in evaluating the antiviral effectiveness of therapy and for estimating the ranges of values of the parameters for clinical treatment. The original model is considered to be a deterministic model because of the predictive nature of the antiviral therapy within the constant target cells. Numerical simulations are carried out in the extended model, to explain the stability of the steady states in the absence or existence of migration in hepatocytes and, drug efficacy in treating HCV infection

The TSA Degradation Process Within Cement-Based Materials in the Electrical Field Environment

The thaumasite form of sulfate attack (TSA) of cement-based materials is a complex degradation process. The degradation process needs abundant water, carbonate, sulfate and silicate. However, there is no detailed study on the TSA degradation process. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and chemical analyses were used to study the TSA degradation process based on the present studies. The results indicated that the degradation process of the electrical field was similar to the full immersion, with the main difference being the degradation rate. The electrical field can obviously accelerate the TSA degradation process. The degradation had progressed to the core of the sample, and the amount of pulp was found at 120 days. The degree of degradation of the MgSO4 full immersion affected only the surface of the sample at 360 days. The degree of degradation of the MgSO4 full immersion was the lowest at 360 days. Meanwhile, combining the XRD, chemical analysis data, the degradation rule was summarized as there being a fixed range to generate the pulp (the representative thaumasite form of sulfate attack), and the pH and the Ca/S need to meet the following conditions: 10.6

The Impact of Digital Platform Rapid Release Strategy on App Update Behavior: An Empirical Study of Firefox

    Get PDF
The success of platform-based software ecosystems depends on the crucial coordination between the platform and third-party applications during co-evolution. Leveraging the change of platform release governance of Firefox, this paper examines the impact of the rapid release process on app update behavior (app responsiveness and app size change). Drawing on boundary resource perspective, we theorize how rapid release process as a social boundary resource affects app update behavior, and how app developers’ usage of technical boundary resource (i.e. platform API) affects this impact. Using a unique longitudinal dataset in Firefox, we conduct empirical analyses and conclude that the rapid release process decreases size change of app updates while platform API usage enhances app responsiveness. Moreover, platform API usage strengthens the effects of the rapid release process on app update behavior. This research enhances our understanding of the impact of platform governance practices on platform-third party coordination and provides practical guidance. How do IT capabilities support fast delivery of big data services to clients across industries?

    Get PDF
IT capabilities have been an important research area, especially in the big data era, when much business value can be drawn from external data. This study reports an interesting phenomenon, the transformation of an internal IT department of a traditional manufacturing company into an IT service provider. It adopts the single case study approach to explaining how the newly transformed business unit rapidly delivers IT services to external clients across industries. Results show that the IT service providers can provide fast service delivery to different clients across industries through developing digital assets, bridging business-data and standardizing services/products, which interact with each other. The whole process of service delivery is supported by IT capabilities such as IT infrastructures, IT managerial skills and IT technical skills. We extend the IT capability and IT service provider literature to the big data context

Three dimensional spider-web-like superconducting filamentary paths in KxFe2−ySe2K_xFe_{2-y}Se_2 single crystals

Since the discovery of high temperature superconductivity in F-doped LaFeAsO, many new iron based superconductors with different structures have been fabricated2. The observation of superconductivity at about 32 K in KxFe2-ySe2 with the iso-structure of the FeAs-based 122 superconductors was a surprise and immediately stimulated the interests because the band structure calculation8 predicted the absence of the hole pocket which was supposed to be necessary for the theoretical picture of S+- pairing. Soon later, it was found that the material may separate into the insulating antiferromagnetic K2Fe4Se5 phase and the superconducting phase. It remains unresolved that how these two phases coexist and what is the parent phase for superconductivity. In this study we use different quenching processes to produce the target samples with distinct microstructures, and apply multiple measuring techniques to reveal a close relationship between the microstructures and the global appearance of superconductivity. In addition, we clearly illustrate three dimensional spider-web-like superconducting filamentary paths, and for the first time propose that the superconducting phase may originate from a state with one vacancy in every eight Fe-sites with the root8*root10 parallelogram structure.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figure
