Pseudo-Kaposi's Sarcoma Because of Suction-Socket Lower Limb Prosthesis

Pseudo-Kaposi sarcoma is a benign reactive vascular proliferation mainly involving the lower legs, which can be related to acquired chronic venous insufficiency or congenital arteriovenous malformations. In its most common presentation, acroangiodermatitis is seen in patients with chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs as an exaggeration of the stasis dermatitis. However, rare reports of acroangiodermatitis include descriptions in amputees (especially in those with poorly fitting suction-type devices), in patients undergoing hemodialysis (with lesions developing distally to arteriovenous shunts) and in patients with paralyzed legs. Effect of Means-Tested Social Transfers on Labor Supply: Heads Versus Spouses:An Empirical Analysis of Work Disincentives in the Kyrgyz Republic

Popular perceptions that the provision of income transfers to poor households creates work disincentives prevail. Existing evidence is mixed and depends on the country, the type of transfer, and the population group analyzed. This paper empirically estimates potential work disincentives of a means-tested social transfer for adults with different household positions. Using data from the Kyrgyz Integrated Household Survey 2012, the analysis compares labor market outcomes for household heads and spouses using quasiexperimental methods to assess transfer effects on labor supply. Overall, beneficiaries have on average higher labor market participation rates, but results differ by household position and socioeconomic context. Household heads in beneficiary households are less likely to be economically active than similar nonbeneficiaries. Yet, spouses are more likely to be economically active. Moreover, outcomes depend on whether the household is located in the south or the north of the country

Giant Angiolymphoid Hyperplasia with Eosinophilia on the Chest

Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia is a rare vascular proliferation characterized by single or multiple purplish, brownish papules and subcutaneous nodules, sometimes associated with pain or pruritus. This rare benign process occurs with a female predominance. Approximately 85% of the lesions occur in the skin of the head and neck; most of them are around the ear or on the forehead or scalp. Whether angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia represents a benign neoplasm or an unusual reaction to varied stimuli, including trauma, the etiology remains unclear. Histopathologically, the lesions consist of a proliferation of blood vessels of variable size lined by large epithelioid endothelial cells and a variable inflammatory infiltrate of lymphocytes and eosinophils, sometimes with lymphoid follicle formation. The lesion is benign but may be persistent and is difficult to eradicate. We report on a case of a 58-year-old Caucasian man who presented a purplish pink dome-shaped tumor of size up to 8 cm in diameter located on the chest. We emphasize this case considering the unusual dimensions of the lesion (8 cm diameter) and the atypical location on the chest

Consumer behavior in the intentions to change between electricity suppliers in Portugal: A push-pull-mooring framework

The liberalization process of the Portuguese electricity market, which started in the 1990s, is integrated in the strategic action enacted by the European Union (EU). With the introduction of competition in the electricity sector, it became essential for electricity providers to identify which factors determine consumers' choice and switching between electricity suppliers. This study intends to apply the push-pull-mooring migration theory to consumers in the electricity market to understand the switching behavior between suppliers. The results showed that push and mooring dimensions have a significant impact on consumer switching intention. In general, low satisfaction and higher value-billing of the other services can push consumers away from their current electricity supplier. Furthermore, these results suggest that the moderating effects such as the switching costs, the previous experience in this market as well as the social influence play important roles in the relationship between some components of the push effects (commitment, satisfaction, and value-billing other services) and the intention to change. Therefore, this study helps both market players and public policy makers designing strategies and incentives aligned with consumer behavior, considering both economic and psychological factors and their combined effect in their switching intention.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

Consumption of musical content and movies/series online in Portugal

Abstract —This study addresses the consumption of musical and/or movies and series online according to the frequency of Internet use. The time spent on Internet, nowadays, goes beyond a simple search or checking the email. What will be the sociodemographic characteristics of Portuguese users? Will the choices facing the Portuguese users be homogeneous in what concerns the frequency of Internet use to access music and movies online? The answer to these research questions is the aim of this study. Using the Flash Eurobarometer 437 database, it is identified that age is significantly related to the frequency of using the Internet to access music and movies online. It is also observed that gender is significantly related to frequency of using the Internet to access movies online. However, the perception of quality and speed of Internet connection are not significantly related to frequency of using the Internet. The choices facing the Portuguese users are not homogeneous regarding the frequency of Internet use to access music and movies online as observed in four different clusters with different characteristics. These results can be an indication that policies concerning the music and movies contents should fit the characteristics of each of these clusters.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
