Development of generic testing strategies for mixed-signal integrated circuits

Describes work at the Polytechnic of Huddersfield SERC/DTI research project IED 2/1/2121 conducted in collaboration with GEC-Plessey Semiconductors, Wolfson Microelectronics, and UMIST. The aim of the work is to develop generic testing strategies for mixed-signal (mixed analogue and digital) integrated circuits. The paper proposes a test structure for mixed-signal ICs, and details the development of a test technique and fault model for the analogue circuit cells encountered in these devices. Results obtained during the evaluation of this technique in simulation are presented, and the ECAD facilities that have contributed to this and other such projects are described

Testing of mixed-signal systems using dynamic stimuli

The impulse response of a linear circuit element contains enough information to functionally characterise that element. A technique for comparison of observed and expected (reference) transient responses, which results in an absolute measure of device functionality, is presented. Comparisons of transient response test results with the results from existing test programs are also presented

The social organization of the Azande of the Bahr-el-Ghazal province of the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan

This thesis represents part of my Ethnological research carries out in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan in the years 1926 and 1927. After having worked for three months in the area between the White and Blue Niles, mainly amongst the Ingassana People of the Tabi Hills, and later for some seven weeks on the West Bank of the Nule, amongst the Moro Peoples, I arrived in that part of the Bahr-el-Ghazal Province which is inhabited by the Azande towards the end of March 1927. I left for England at the end of August, thus completing a residence of five months amongst the Azande. The Thesis is arranged in two books. The first book is a condensed analysis of the structure of Zande society. In the second book I have taken native customer or institutions, divination, magic, dancing and obscene songs, and I have en-deavoured to interpret them by showing their contexts, associa-tions and functions. It is by the method exemplified in the second book of this thesis that I hope to explain one by one the institutions of the Azande. In the parts on magic and obscenity I have used the comparative method of analysis. It is this method which must eventually be applied to all institu-tions if Social Anthropology is to put forward general state-ments, or laws, and so take its place in the ranks of other inductive sciences

Infrared evidence for the transmission of electronic effects through a metal atom in a series of new cadmium complexes

A series of novel cadmium complexes has been synthesized from the reaction of cadmium chloride, bromide and iodide with primary aromatic amines. The complexes are either mononuclear or polynuclear according to the nature of the halide and amine employed. A possible mechanism for their formation is proposed. The N - H stretching and bending frequencies are linearly related to the electronegativity of the co-ordinated halogen, indicating that the electron withdrawing capacity of the halogen is transmitted through the cadmium atom
