Towards a Framework of Choices Made During the Lifecycles of Process Models
A variety of process modelling approaches exist. The tools provide visualizations and enable analyses of a process. However, analyses of a process depend fundamentally on the properties of the underlying process model. Choices that modellers make in building process models affect the quality of the created models and have an effect on what the models can be used for and can affect the process that is modelled. This paper reflects over the choices the processes modellers need to make in the course of building processes and proposes a framework to show how the choices are related to each other
A simplified computer program for the prediction of the linear stability behavior of liquid propellant combustors
A program for predicting the linear stability of liquid propellant rocket engines is presented. The underlying model assumptions and analytical steps necessary for understanding the program and its input and output are also given. The rocket engine is modeled as a right circular cylinder with an injector with a concentrated combustion zone, a nozzle, finite mean flow, and an acoustic admittance, or the sensitive time lag theory. The resulting partial differential equations are combined into two governing integral equations by the use of the Green's function method. These equations are solved using a successive approximation technique for the small amplitude (linear) case. The computational method used as well as the various user options available are discussed. Finally, a flow diagram, sample input and output for a typical application and a complete program listing for program MODULE are presented
Optimal entanglement criterion for mixed quantum states
We develop a strong and computationally simple entanglement criterion. The
criterion is based on an elementary positive map Phi which operates on state
spaces with even dimension N >= 4. It is shown that Phi detects many entangled
states with positive partial transposition (PPT) and that it leads to a class
of optimal entanglement witnesses. This implies that there are no other
witnesses which can detect more entangled PPT states. The map Phi yields a
systematic method for the explicit construction of high-dimensional manifolds
of bound entangled states.Comment: 4 pages, no figures, replaced by published version (minor changes),

Aerodynamic design guidelines and computer program for estimation of subsonic wind tunnel performance
General guidelines are given for the design of diffusers, contractions, corners, and the inlets and exits of non-return tunnels. A system of equations, reflecting the current technology, has been compiled and assembled into a computer program (a user's manual for this program is included) for determining the total pressure losses. The formulation presented is applicable to compressible flow through most closed- or open-throat, single-, double-, or non-return wind tunnels. A comparison of estimated performance with that actually achieved by several existing facilities produced generally good agreement
Three level atom optics in dipole traps and waveguides
An analogy is explored between a setup of three atomic traps coupled via
tunneling and an internal atomic three-level system interacting with two laser
fields. Within this scenario we describe a STIRAP like process which allows to
move an atom between the ground states of two trapping potentials and analyze
its robustness. This analogy is extended to other robust and coherent transport
schemes and to systems of more than a single atom. Finally it is applied to
manipulate external degrees of freedom of atomic wave packets propagating in
waveguides.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figures; submitted to special issue 'Quantum Control of

Rembert Wallace Patrick: A Bibliography
The following bibliography is an attempt to bring together all of Rembert W. Patrick’s published works in one place convenient to scholars. The list is complete through December 1, 1967. Little attempt has been made to note unpublished works, among which are comments and papers delivered at various historical meetings, including the paper, “The Florida Historical Quarterly,” given at the annual meeting of the Florida Historical Society in St. Augustine, April 13, 1956. It should be noted that Professor Patrick was general editor of the twenty-one volumes in the Floridiana Facsimile & Reprint Series, published by the University of Florida Press, beginning in 1962
