Conductivity in Two-Dimensional Disordered Model with Anisotropic Long-Range Hopping
We consider two-dimensional system of particles localized on randomly
distributed sites of squared lattice with anisotropic transfer matrix elements
between localized sites. By summing of "diffusion ladder" and "cooperon ladder"
type vertices we calculated the conductivity for various sites and particles
densities.Comment: Latex, 10 page
Determination of the preliminary phase of the facility destruction based on the resistance-acoustic method of control
The article substantiates the use of the resistance-acoustic method in problems of non-destructive testing of mechanical stresses or defects in structures of metals and alloys in natural and technical systems. The possibilities of the use of the proposed method for the potential monitored facilities were analyzed, to which the strict requirements for operational security are imposed (bearing reinforced concrete structures, bridges, radio and television towers, etc.
On the Possible Enhancement of the Magnetic Field by Neutrino Reemission Processes in the Mantle of a Supernova
URCA neutrino reemission processes under the conditions in the mantle of a
supernova with a strong toroidal magnetic field are investigated. It is shown
that parity violation in these processes can be manifested macroscopically as a
torque that rapidly spins up the region of the mantle occupied by such a field.
Neutrino spin-up of the mantle can strongly affect the mechanism of further
generation of the toroidal field, specifically, it can enhance the field in a
small neighborhood of the rigid-body-rotating core of the supernova remnant.Comment: 8 pages, late
A search for J^{PC}=1^{-+} exotic mesons in the pi- pi- pi+ and pi- pi0 pi0 systems
A partial wave analysis (PWA) of the pi-pi-pi+ and pi-pi0pi0 systems produced
in the reaction pi- p -> (3pi)-p at 18 GeV/c was carried out using an isobar
model assumption. This analysis is based on 3.0M pi-pi0pi0 events and 2.6M
pi-pi-pi+ events and shows production of the a2(1320), pi2(1670) and \pi(1800)
mesons. An earlier analysis of 250K pi-pi-pi+ events from the same experiment
showed possible evidence for a J^{PC}=1^{-+}$ exotic meson with a mass of 1.6
GeV/c^2 decaying into rho pi. In this analysis of a higher statistics sample of
the (3pi)- system in two charged modes we find no evidence of an exotic meson.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, added comment about the negative reflectivity

Pulsar kicks from neutrino oscillations
Neutrino oscillations in a core-collapse supernova may be responsible for the
observed rapid motions of pulsars. Given the present bounds on the neutrino
masses, the pulsar kicks require a sterile neutrino with mass 2-20 keV and a
small mixing with active neutrinos. The same particle can be the cosmological
dark matter. Its existence can be confirmed the by the X-ray telescopes if they
detect a 1-10 keV photon line from the decays of the relic sterile neutrinos.
In addition, one may be able to detect gravity waves from a pulsar being
accelerated by neutrinos in the event of a nearby supernova.Comment: invited review article to appear in Int. J. Mod. Phys. (21 pages, 6

Black Sea coastal forecasting system
The Black Sea coastal nowcasting and forecasting system was built within the framework of EU FP6 ECOOP (European COastalshelf sea OPerational observing and forecasting system) project for five regions: the south-western basin along the coasts of Bulgaria and Turkey, the north-western shelf along the Romanian and Ukrainian coasts, coastal zone around of the Crimea peninsula, the north-eastern Russian coastal zone and the coastal zone of Georgia. The system operates in the real-time mode during the ECOOP project and afterwards. The forecasts include temperature, salinity and current velocity fields. Ecosystem model operates in the off-line mode near the Crimea coast
Neutron Star Kicks and Asymmetric Supernovae
Observational advances over the last decade have left little doubt that
neutron stars received a large kick velocity (of order a few hundred to a
thousand km/s) at birth. The physical origin of the kicks and the related
supernova asymmetry is one of the central unsolved mysteries of supernova
research. We review the physics of different kick mechanisms, including
hydrodynamically driven, neutrino -- magnetic field driven, and
electromagnetically driven kicks. The viabilities of the different kick
mechanisms are directly related to the other key parameters characterizing
nascent neutron stars, such as the initial magnetic field and the initial spin.
Recent observational constraints on kick mechanisms are also discussed.Comment: 16 pages. Lecture presented at the European Center for Theor. Physics
