Assessing California's Multiple Pathways Field
The multiple pathways approach to high school education combines rigorous academic learning and career skills to give students the intellectual and real-world experience to succeed in college, career and life. Growing evidence shows that the multiple pathways approach holds promise for increasing academic engagement and achievement, reducing high school dropout rates and boosting students' future earning power. The James Irvine Foundation engaged the Bridgespan Group to assess the state of the multiple pathways field in California and to make recommendations to strengthen it. Assessing California's Multiple Pathways Field: Preparing Youth for Success in College and Career offers findings and recommendations based on a newly developed framework that assesses the multiple pathways field based on five characteristics of strong fields
Popper and Bohr on Realism in Quantum Mechanics
Popper's program in the foundations of quantum mechanics defending objectivity and realism developed out of a profound dissatisfaction with the point of view associated with Bohr, which is usually designated the Copenhagen interpretation. Here I will argue that while Popper's aim is a noble one, his program does not succeed on two counts: he does not succeed in showing that Bohr's philosophy must be rejected as a variety of subjectivism, and his alternative interpretation of indeterminacy rests on a highly questionable assumption according to which simultaneously precise conjugate parameters are possible. Nevertheless I like Popper's propensity interpretation of probability and think that the propensity idea deserves further research.

Spatial Perception and Integration of the Interior and Exterior Environments
My course of study, which focused on spatial perception and integration of the interior and exterior environments, has fulfilled my expectations completely. The underlying premise of my personal design philosophy is the idea of integrating the man-made environment with the natural environment. I felt before I undertook this specialized coursework, and feel so even more now, that there is much to learn about the multitude of effects -- therapeutic, emotional, psychological and experiential, to name a few -- that designed spaces have on people

The Role of Field-Based Business Consulting Experiences in AACSB Business Education: An Exploratory Survey and Study
This research was designed to explore the critical variables associated with field-based consultancy (FBC) experiences as an aid to designing successful FBC programs. It is generally acknowledged that there are both advantages and disadvantages associated with FBC' at the student, instructor, and institutional level. Deans, other university administrators, and faculty have sometimes questioned this form of program instruction, from the perspectives of resource allocation and the appropriateness of this type of faculty activity in the typical university reward system. A mail survey was conducted of business school administrators to ascertain the extent of involvement with FBC and the associated success factors. The findings from this study validate some basic underpinnings of business education curriculum and ,design. Student-based factors influencing success include smaller classes, usually at a senior or graduate level, graded coursework (as opposed to pass/fail), and full-time students. As a learning method, field-based learning adds value to students, to clients involved, to the faculty and to the institutions. The hurdles continue to be the need for a fair allocation of the time and resources to the parties involved
The pharmacokinetics of nebulized nanocrystal budesonide suspension in healthy volunteers.
Nanocrystal budesonide (nanobudesonide) is a suspension for nebulization in patients with steroid-responsive pulmonary diseases such as asthma. The pharmacokinetics and safety of the product were compared to those of Pulmicort Respules. Sixteen healthy volunteers were administered nanobudesonide 0.5 and 1.0 mg, Pulmicort Respules 0.5 mg, and placebo in a four-way, randomized crossover design. All nebulized formulations were well tolerated, with no evidence of bronchospasm. Nebulization times were significantly shorter for nanobudesonide compared to Pulmicort Respules. Because of a low oral bioavailability, plasma concentration of budesonide is a good marker of lung-delivered dose. The pharmacokinetics of nanobudesonide 0.5 and 1.0 mg were approximately dose proportional with respect to Cmax, AUC(0-t), and AUC(0-infinity). Nanobudesonide 0.5 mg and Pulmicort Respules 0.5 mg exhibited similar AUCs, suggesting a similar extent of pulmonary absorption. A higher Cmax was noted with nanobudesonide 0.5 mg, and the tmax was significantly different, suggesting a more rapid rate of drug delivery of nanobudesonide 0.5 mg than Pulmicort Respules. In conclusion, nebulized nanobudesonide 0.5 mg was safe in healthy volunteers, with a similar extent of absorption as Pulmicort Respules
Intrahepatic Biliary Cystadenoma With Intracystic Gallstone Formation
Biliary cystadenoma is a rare tumor of the liver. We describe a biliary cystadenoma of the left lobe of the
liver with intracystic gallstone formation. This is the first report of stone formation in biliary
cystadenoma of the liver
