    Examining Mental Health and Well-being Provision in Schools in Europe: Methodological Approach

    Schools are considered an ideal setting for community-based mental health and well-being interventions for young people. However, in spite of extensive literature examining the effectiveness of such interventions, very few studies have investigated existing mental health and well-being provision in schools. The current study aims to extend such previous research by surveying primary and secondary schools to investigate the nature of available provision in nine European countries (Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, the UK and Ukraine). Furthermore, the study aims to investigate potential barriers to mental health and well-being provision and compare provision within and between countries

    Cretaceous/Tertiary Boundary from the Koraljka-1 Off-Shore Well (SW of Zadar, Adriatic Sea)

    Deep exploration well Koraljka-1 in the central part of the Adriatic Sea was drilled through Neogene and Paleogene deposits and penetrated the Upper Cretaceous. In the interval from 2500 to 2230 m, the Cretaceous and Paleogene deposits consist of white to grey, mud-supported, fairly fossiliferous deeper-water, chalky limestone (wackestone-mudstone) with sporadic occurrences of chert, intercalated with bioclastic limestone packstone/rudstone to floatstone. Bioclastic limestone (calcarenite) intercalations, which yield platform-derived detritus, were redeposited seaward on the deep platform slope by a gravity mechanism. Lithostratigraphically, sedimentation was almost continuous across the Cretaceous - Tertiary boundary. The importance of these deposits and their stratigraphic interest is based on the fact that there is no on-shore equivalent of such deeper-water deposits in the Croatian part of the Outer Dinarids. In biostratigraphic terms, the K/T boundary is marked by significant changes in the microfossil assemblages (calcareous nannofossils, plankton and benthic foraminifera), which revealed that the hiatus at the boundary is minimal

    In this paper we study the second covariant derivative of Riemannian curvature tensor. Some new identities for the second covariant derivative are given. Namely, identities obtained by cyclic sum with respect to three indices are given. In the first case, two curvature tensor indices and one covariant derivative index participate in the cyclic sum, while in the second case one curvature tensor index and two covariant derivative indices participate in the cyclic sum

    Apolipoprotein B gene polymorphisms in patients from Serbia with ischemic cerebrovascular disease

    The plasma concentration of apoB has recently been reported to be the best lipid predictor of coronary heart disease. The possible associations of genetic markers in the apolipoprotein B gene (XbaI, EcoRI, MspI, Ins/Del, and 4311 A/G polymorphisms) were evaluated in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease (ICVD) and controls of equivalent BMI. The odds ratio for ICVD in the X+X+ genotype was 2.22, 95% CI 1.24-3.96 (P<0.05), while that for ICVD in the Ins/Ins genotype was 2.82, 95% CI 1.57-5.06 (P<0.05). The patients had significantly higher frequency of the 4311A allele compared to the controls (P<0.01). Our results support the assumption that apoB gene polymorphisms may contribute to the extent of cerebrovascular disease risk

    Identification and molecular characterization of Chryseobacterium vrystaatense ST1 isolated from oligomineral water of southeast Serbia

    The isolation and molecular characterization of bacterial strains isolated from water sources in the Vlasina Mountain in southeast Serbia, confirmed the presence of a new species Chryseobacterium vrystaatense ST1. This Gram- negative species showed an extremely low level of biochemical reactivity in biochemical tests. The gene for 16S rRNA was amplified by PCR using universal primers and sequenced. Comparison of 16S rRNA gene sequence and phenotypic features indicated that the isolate ST belonged to Chryseobacterium vrystaatense. A BLAST search of sequenced 1088 nucleotides of the 16S rRNA gene with all sequences deposited in the NCBI collection showed the highest similarity (98%) with the strain Chryseobacterium vrystaatense sp. nov., designated as strain R-23533. The very high homology of these two strains allowed classification of our strain at the species level, but some differences indicate, and indirectly confirm, that the isolate ST is an authentic representative. On the basis of these results, we could conclude that Chryseobacterium vrystaatense ST was for first time isolated in Serbia, which is particularly important when one bears in mind that there are only three sequences of this species deposited in the NCBI collection

    EVIDENCE-BASED STROKE REHABILITATION

    Stroke can have different clinical characteristics and consequences, with unequal disability and outcome, thus demanding individual approach, specific skills and general knowledge. Treatment of stroke has significantly improved during the last twenty years, mainly because of clinical and experimental studies, adequate medicamentous therapy, and the use of new technologies as well. Use-dependent rehabilitation strategy includes repetitive training with proper adjustment of the program. Other rehabilitation practices should also be incorporated, such as self-care, recreation, and home-based activities. Motivation of the patients, improving quality of life, functional independence, activities of daily life are crucial. Holistic approach means that the patient as a whole should be considered and treated. Scientific evidence is sufficient to confirm the necessity of physical rehabilitation of patients after stroke in order to achieve the optimal results. Current evidence on the effect of physical therapy in stroke rehabilitation is presented

    Tribology phenomena are obviously present and have significant importance in most of human activities, processes and actions. Ballroom Dance as a common activitie with practically importance is not enough studied and analyzed from the tribological point of view. This paper presents an attempt in this direction dealing with study of tribology aspects by analyzing a couple of Standard and Latin ballroom dances with characteristic steps and choreography. This paper shows an approximate calculation of friction forces and torques caused by some common movements and their influence on interaction in foot floor interface. Besides the approximate calculation of friction loss, authors have measured and analyze the total energy consumption by making several experiments with corresponding equipment
