HIGH PULSED CURRENTS FROM PHOTO-FIELD EMITTERS
Différent microemitters - single or arrays - with various geometries and kinds of material have been irradiated with pulsed laser beams. These emitters working in photo-field emission regime delivered very high intensity electron bunches. Peak intensities as high as some tens of Amps with less than one ns duration have been obtained with U.V. light. New type of microemitters developed in collaboration with BNL have been tested since last year showing the possibility of obtaining charges above 20 nC with low energy laser puises, (εi = 100µJ). The main parameters affecting the choice of these emitters as quantum yield, photocurrent density, electron pulse length, repetition rate and vacuum system level are here discussed. Good performances obtained with these emitters as well as the absence of cesiation make these microemitters interesting candidates for the new generation of linac injectors as well as for multimegawatt RF sources. At LAL, Orsay efforts have been made since three years to develop such electron sources

Oil quality and aroma composition of 'Chemlali' olive trees (Olea europaea L.) under three irrigation regimes
The present work focused on the chemical composition of monovarietal virgin olive oil from the cultivar Chemlali cultivated in the South of Tunisia: sub-arid zone under three different irrigation regimes: stressed, moderate and well irrigation treatment with the restitution of 50, 75 and 100% of crop evapotranspiration (ETc), respectively. Quality characteristics (acidity and peroxide value) and chemical data (antioxidant compound, fatty acids volatile compounds and oxidative stability) were studied in addition to the pomological characteristic of olive fruit. Results show that there were significant differences observed in oil composition according to the irrigation regime applied. Total phenols, bitterness intensity and LOX products content showed the highest values for low irrigation regime, whereas polyunsaturated fatty acid and oxidative susceptibility values had highest values for olive oil from well irrigated trees. Experimental study of positron production from a 2.55-mm-thick silicon crystal target using 8-GeV channeling electron beams with high-bunch charges
We have investigated quenching phenomena of channeling radiation through positron production from a silicon crystal hit by a single-bunch electron beam with high-bunch charge at the 8-GeV electron/positron injector linac. The crystal axis, left angle bracket1 1 0right-pointing angle bracket, was aligned to the electron beam with a precise goniometer, and positrons produced in the forward direction with a momentum of 20 MeV/c were detected with a magnetic spectrometer. Positron yields were measured by varying the charge in a bunch with a typical bunch length of not, vert, similar10 ps from 0.1 nC to 2 nC. The corresponding instantaneous current density ranged from 0.15 Ă— 104 to 1.2 Ă— 104 A/cm2. The results show that, at these current densities, the positron yield is proportional to the bunch charge within the experimental accuracy, which implies that no non-linear phenomena are observed in channeling radiation
