Biodiversity of Indigenous Saccharomyces Populations from Old Wineries of South-Eastern Sicily (Italy): Preservation and Economic Potential
In recent years, the preservation of biodiversity has become an important issue. Despite much public discussion, however, current practices in the food industry seldom take account of its potential economic importance: on the contrary, the introduction of industrialized agriculture practices over large areas has often resulted in a dramatic reduction in biodiversity
The evolution of the luxury outbound supply chain in China: a case-based analysis
This paper proposes an analysis of the evolution of outbound supply chain in Chinese
market, with a specific focus on fashion industry. Grounding on the critical analysis of
extant scientific literature and on empirical evidence from 12 retrospective case studies,
the paper highlights: (1) four main archetypes of evolutionary pattern of the structure of
the outbound supply chain in China; (2) the main motivations pushing companies in the
adoption of the specific evolutionary pattern; (3) context variables affecting the
adoption of the evolutionary pattern
Dynamic capabilities for fashion-luxury supply chain innovation
reserved3Purpose: This paper aims at developing a conceptual framework to identify the main features of supply chain innovation and to analyse the role of dynamic capabilities in implementing such innovations in the context of the fashion-luxury industry. Design/methodology/approach: The paper follows an exploratory approach based on one in-depth case study. The theoretical framework, developed through the literature review, is applied to a Italian fashion-luxury company, thus exploring its applicability in a real context and obtaining evidence in the area of supply chain innovation. Findings: The paper offers insights on supply chain innovation, by investigating an area under-explored in the existing literature. The paper provides a conceptual framework oriented to analyse the main features of supply chain innovation for fashion-luxury companies, by investigating the main determinants of innovation. Research limitations/implications: The proposed model provides initial insights into the topic of supply chain innovation in fashion-luxury companies. To date, the analysis is predominantly qualitative and therefore replication is needed to generalise the results. Practical implications: The paper identifies three different perspectives of supply chain innovation and the relationships between supply chain innovation and other types of innovations, which are hopefully useful for managers that are willing to introduce innovation inside fashion-luxury companies. Originality/value: The paper addresses a new topic, underexplored in the supply chain management literature, by considering a peculiar area of investigation, the fashion-luxury. Moreover, the paper investigates the topic of supply chain innovation through the support of empirical data.Federico Caniato;Maria Caridi;Antonella MorettoCaniato, FEDERICO FRANCESCO ANGELO; Caridi, Maria; Moretto, ANTONELLA MARI
Integrating international fashion retail into new product development
The integration of new product development (NPD) and the supply chain (SC) has been extensively analysed by researchers as a critical means to achieve success. However, most studies have focused on the integration of NPD and upstream SC, mostly from a local perspective. This paper aims to develop a comprehensive framework to investigate the integration of the NPD process and international retail in the fashion industry with a contingency approach. In particular, the internationalisation of retail is analysed by considering the influence of foreign countries' characteristics on NPD. To achieve this goal, thirteen exploratory case studies of Italian fashion companies are performed. The cases allow the identification of the framework variables as well as the analysis of the relationships among those variables. Finally, three main archetypes of behaviours are identified
An insight on pharmaceutical crystallization process by using membrane technology: PVDF-based mixed matrix membranes and PP grafted membranes as new tools for controlling the supersaturation rate and the heterogeneous nucleation mechanism.

The relationship between sustainability and innovation practices in the fashion industry supply chain
Combining the literature related to supply chain sustainability and innovation, this paper aims at analysing whether a higher level of innovativeness of the company implies a stronger approach of supply chain sustainability. This survey-based study focuses on the fashion industry, being an ideal setting critical industry for studying sustainability challenges
Developing sustainability in the Italian meat supply chain: an empirical investigation
Although sustainable supply chain (SC) management has been widely investigated in recent years, the focus has mainly been on the practices adopted by a single company, so missing the big picture at SC level. This study of the Italian meat industry considers the SC as a whole, identifying the critical points for each stage in terms of economic, environmental and social sustainability. To this end, a first set of case studies was conducted of companies at different stages of the SC before turning to focus on the meat processing stage, which was identified as critical and highly relevant. A second set of case studies analysed how these companies leverage SC management practices to develop sustainable SCs. In so doing, specific attention was paid to drivers and contingent variables that foster the adoption of sustainable practices. The results of the two steps were then merged to illuminate how practices adopted by the meat processors can impact on the whole chain, confirming their pivotal role in driving sustainability. These results provide a holistic view of the phenomenon, encompassing the entire chain from end to end and highlighting the interdependences across various stages of the meat SC
