    Penelitian ini mengungkap seberapa besar perbedaan kinerja termal dua rumah dengan desain sama, yang dibangun pada dua tapak dengan orientasi yang berbeda. Gagasan ini didasarkan pada kenyataan bahwa banyak pengembang hanya menerapkan satu desain rumah untuk berbagai tapak dengan orientasi yang berbeda-beda. Analisis kinerja termal didasarkan pada hasil pengukuran lapangan yang meliputi: suhu udara dan kelembaban di dalam dua bangunan di atas. Hasil pengukuran dipakai untuk menganalisis kondisi termal masing-masing ruang dalam satu bangunan, serta perbedaan kondisi termal ruang-ruang pada bangunan yang satu terhadap bangunan yang lain. Perbedaan kondisi termal yang terjadi, secara deskriptif dianalisis berdasarkan pengaruh orientasi dan desain bangunan. Kata kunci : kinerja termal bangunan, orientasi bangunan

    Abstract : Building orientation has an important impact to the indoor building temperature. Theoretically, different building orientation would received different heat gain thus different indoor temperature accordingly. Housing developer usually built a typical house-design without building orientation heat gain difference as concern.This paper aimed to explore the impact of building orientation toward the indoor temperature of typical house-design, which built on two different site orientations. The time measurement based on extreme sun-paths of Surabaya in wet and dry seasons to describe thoroughly the outdoor temperature and the houseā€™s indoor temperature of both orientations. By comparing the rooms indoor temperature of each house, the indoor temperature profile wiil be gained

    Improving The Indoor Environment In "Kampong" House (Case study: Siwalankerto Timur, Surabaya)

    At a house, an opening is a requirement regarding the daylight penetration into the room, humidity and air temperature control, and maximizing room ventilation and air change. Thus, opening has important role to make a better indoor environment that bringing indoor activity comfort and healthy life. But in most of kampong house in urban area usually do not have enough opening. The aim of this study is to realize the society, that the opening of the room is important. The case study took place at two kampong houses in Siwalankerto Timur. Both houses are approximately 70-100 m2, with small open space in front of it. Both are brick walls plastered, cement floor tiled, wooden roof structured and genteng roof covered. Both houses do not have openings to outdoor except to the front open space. Several rooms in both houses improved with addition some opening by jalousies or skylight. The indoor environment aspects in this study are daylighting, ventilation, temperature and humidity.The daylight indicator is daylight illumination. The ventilation indicator is air velocity. Temperature, humidity (relative humidity) and air velocity are indicators of thermal comfort. Measurement of those aspects did at before and after the houses improved. Analyzed on each aspects showed that improvement on both houses had given a better indoor environment. The improvement of indoor environment can be an example to others kampong house occupants. They shall realize that they need to live in better indoor environment

    THE EFFECT OF FAƇADE PLANT-SHADING ON REDUCING INDOOR AIR TEMPERATURE IN MEDIUM-RISE WORKING AREA (A Case Study Of Architecture Studentā€™s Studio In Surabaya, Indonesia)

    Indonesia as a hot-humid region has in average high temperature and humidity. The temperature is usually higher than 30Ā°C and the humidity is over 60 % in the afternoon. This condition can reduce the comfort of the indoor occupants. The building designer in this region should produce a good and creative design in accordance with this situation, especially in designing a medium-rise building. The faƧade of a medium-rise building, especially when it is exposed to the sun rays, is more influencing than the roof in controlling the solar penetration into the building because the faƧade area is wider than the roof area. In order to reduce the indoor temperature, some ways to shade the faƧade should be done. This research, which has been conducted in two periods of time (in dry and rainy season), attempts to do so by using the faƧade plant shading. The result is that the faƧade with plant shading makes the indoor temperature lower than the indoor temperature without faƧade plant-shading

    Makalah ini bertujuan mengemukakan gagasan pemanfaatan potensi bibir saluran air hujan di kota besar menjadi ruang terbuka hijau dalam bentuk streetscape. Penataan bibir saluran air hujan menjadi ruang terbuka hijau ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi meningkatkan kualitas keindahan lansekap perkotaan dan kenyamanan manusia dalam mencapai sebuah green city di Surabaya. Selain itu diharapkan dapat menurunkan tingkat polusi gas buang pada jalan di samping saluran. Kasus pada makalah ini, saluran air hujan di jalan Raya Jemursari punya potensi juga sebagai tempat penjual tanaman hias yang saat ini sudah ada dan cukup berkembang, tetapi kurang tertata dengan baik. Potensi yang ada pada kasus ini yaitu sebagai ruang terbuka hijau dan tempat penjualan tanaman dicoba dikembangkan bersama-sama untuk mencapai manfaat yang terbaik bagi sebuah green city, melalui penataan ulang, yang memungkinkan.
