Chiral field theory of glueball
A chiral field theory of glueball is presented. By adding a
glueball field to a successful Lagrangian of chiral field theory of
pseudoscalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons, the Lagrangian of this theory is
constructed. The couplings between the pseodoscalar glueball field and mesons
are via U(1) anomaly revealed. Qualitative study of the physical processes of
the glueball of is presented. The theoretical
predictions can be used to identify the glueball.Comment: 29 page
Performance of the CMS cathode strip chambers with cosmic rays
The Cathode Strip Chambers (CSCs) constitute the primary muon tracking device in the CMS endcaps. Their performance has been evaluated using data taken during a cosmic ray run in fall 2008. Measured noise levels are low, with the number of noisy channels well below 1%. Coordinate resolution was measured for all types of chambers, and fall in the range 47μm to 243μm. The efficiencies for local charged track triggers, for hit and for segments reconstruction were measured, and are above 99%. The timing resolution per layer is approximately 5 ns
Single photo and electroproduction of pions at EBAC@JLAB
Within the Excited Baryon Analysis Center we have performed a dynamical
coupled-channels analysis of the available data in the region of
1.6 GeV and 1.45 (GeV/c). The channels included are
, , , and which has , , and components. With the hadronic parameters of the model
determined in our previous investigations of reaction, we have
found that the available data in the considered 1.6 GeV region can be
fitted well by only adjusting the bare helicity amplitudes
for the lowest states in , , and
partial waves. The meson cloud effect, as required by the unitarity conditions,

Scalar Quarkonium Masses and Mixing with the Lightest Scalar Glueball
We evaluate the continuum limit of the valence (quenched) approximation to
the mass of the lightest scalar quarkonium state, for a range of different
quark masses, and to the mixing energy between these states and the lightest
scalar glueball. Our results support the interpretation of as

Instanton Effects in the Decay of Scalar Mesons
We show that instanton effects may play a crucial role in the decay of scalar
mesons into two pseudoscalars. Particularly the branching ratios of two meson
decays of the , which is considered as a glue-ball candidate, are
then compatible with an ordinary -structure of this resonance and a
small positive SU(3) mixing angle, close to a result recently calculated with

Jets associated with Z^0 boson production in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC
The heavy ion program at the LHC will present unprecedented opportunities to
probe hot QCD matter, that is, the quark gluon plasma (QGP). Among these
exciting new probes are high energy partons associated with the production of a
Z^0 boson, or Z^0 tagged jets. Once produced, Z^0 bosons are essentially
unaffected by the strongly interacting medium produced in heavy-ion collisions,
and therefore provide a powerful signal of the initial partonic energy and
subsequent medium induced partonic energy loss. When compared with theory,
experimental measurements of Z^0 tagged jets will help quantify the jet
quenching properties of the QGP and discriminate between different partonic
energy loss formalisms. In what follows, I discuss the advantages of tagged
jets over leading particles, and present preliminary results of the production
and suppression of Z^0 tagged jets in relativistic heavy-ion collisions at LHC

Experimental tests on the lifetime Asymmetry
The experimental test problem of the left-right polarization-dependent
lifetime asymmetry is discussed. It shows that the existing experiments cannot
demonstrate the lifetime asymmetry to be right or wrong after analyzing the
measurements on the neutron, the muon and the tau lifetime, as well as the
experiment. However, It is pointed out emphatically that the SLD and the
E158 experiments, the measurements of the left-right integrated cross section
asymmetry in boson production by collisions and by
electron-electron M{\o}ller scattering, can indirectly demonstrate the lifetime
asymmetry. In order to directly demonstrate the lifetime asymmetry, we propose
some possible experiments on the decays of polarized muons. The precise
measurement of the lifetime asymmetry could have important significance for
building a muon collider, also in cosmology and astrophysics. It would provide
a sensitive test of the standard model in particle physics and allow for
exploration of the possible interactions.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figur
Dynamical study of the possible molecular state X(3872) with the s-channel one gluon exchange interaction
The recently observed X(3872) resonance, which is difficult to be assigned a
conventional charmonium state in the quark model, may be interpreted
as a molecular state. Such a molecular state is a hidden flavor four quark
state because of its charmonium-like quantum numbers. The s-channel one gluon
exchange is an interaction which only acts in the hidden flavor multi-quark
system. In this paper, we will study the X(3872) and other similiar hidden
flavor molecular states in a quark model by taking into account of the
s-channel one gluon exchange interaction
