Dual isotopic composition of methane in Murchison meteorite
Dual isotopic composition (H and C) of methane extracted from a small sample of Murchison meteorite reveals a deuterium enrichment for this molecule, indicating the presence of interstellar hydrogen

Laser ablation of Diamond and Genesis concentrator target material
UV laser ablations of CVD diamond using two wavelengths of radiation (266 nm and 213 nm) have been compared. The impetus for this work is the 2004 return of Genesis and extraction of solar-wind oxygen implanted in diamond
The Theory of the Nucleon Spin
I discuss two topics of current interest in the study of the spin structure
of the nucleon. First, I discuss whether there is a sum rule for the components
of the nucleon's angular moments. Second, I discuss the measurement of the
nucleon's transversity distribution in light of recent results reported by the
HERMES collaboration at DESY.Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures, LaTeX using rspublic.cls and BoxedEPS macros; as

QCD and Hadron Dynamics
Perturbative QCD predicts and describes various features of multihadron
production. An amazing similarity between observable hadron systems and
calculable underlying parton ensembles justifies the attempts to use the
language of quarks and gluons down to small momentum scales, to approach the
profound problems that are commonly viewed as being entirely non-perturbative.Comment: Talk at the Royal Society meeting "Structure of Matter", London, May

Jet substructure as a new Higgs search channel at the LHC
It is widely considered that, for Higgs boson searches at the Large Hadron
Collider, WH and ZH production where the Higgs boson decays to b anti-b are
poor search channels due to large backgrounds. We show that at high transverse
momenta, employing state-of-the-art jet reconstruction and decomposition
techniques, these processes can be recovered as promising search channels for
the standard model Higgs boson around 120 GeV in mass.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Reactivation and Precise IPN Localization of the Soft Gamma Repeater SGR1900+14
In 1998 May, the soft gamma repeater SGR1900+14 emerged from several years of
quiescence and emitted a series of intense bursts, one with a time history
unlike any previously observed from this source. Triangulation using Ulysses,
BATSE, and KONUS data give a 1.6 square arcminute error box near the galactic
supernova remnant G42.8+0.6. This error box contains a quiescent soft X-ray
source which is probably a neutron star associated with the soft repeater.Comment: Accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal Letter
QUANTIFYING CRITICAL FEATURES OF UNDERWATER STROKE TECHNIQUE IN FREESTYLE SWIMMING
The purpose of this study was to establish methods for accurately quantifying the time of entry, catch and release in freestyle swimming. The methods allow ready data collection, digitising and analysis without recourse to expensive cameras and diglising equipment thereby enabling analysis by coaches as well as biomechanists. Interpolation procedures to improve the accuracy of estimating the time of occurrence of the events were developed
