New long time existence results for a class of Boussinesq-type systems
In this paper we deal with the long time existence for the Cauchy problem
associated to some asymptotic models for long wave, small amplitude gravity
surface waves. We generalize some of the results that can be found in the
literature devoted to the study of Boussinesq systems by implementing an energy
method on spectrally localized equations. In particular, we obtain better
results in terms of the regularity level required to solve the initial value
problem on large time scales
Intercultural Communication and Active Cohabitation
The hypothesis from which we initiate our approach is that socio-cultural identity of the Romanian nation is configured by involving all participants to the act of coexistence, Romany people, having in turn, a significant participation. In order to highlight this contribution, we propose in this paper operationalizing the concept of active cohabitation and the presentation of some Romany personalities, who have added value through their national culture. If, in our view, multiculturalism is none other but simply living together in the same area of two or more ethnic groups, two or more cultures, or two or more religions, between which there are established and are produced relations of certain types, at certain times, the interculturalism is beyond the static or contemplative nature thereof, and basing on multiculturalism, it requires knowledge, appreciation, and mutual learning and conscious use of norms, values, customs, processes or technologies, leading to a common patrimony, each usable according to the moments, situations and circumstances, something that increases the stock of mutual appreciation
Lagrangian methods for a general inhomogeneous incompressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system with variable capillarity and viscosity coefficients
International audienceWe study the inhomogeneous incompressible Navier-Stokes system endowed with a general capillary term. Thanks to recent methods based on Lagrangian change of variables, we obtain local well-posedness in critical Besov spaces (even if the integration index p is different from 2) and for variable viscosity and capillary terms. In the case of constant coefficients and for initial data that are perturbations of a constant state, we are able to prove that the lifespan goes to infinity as the capillary coefficient goes to zero, connecting our result to the global existence result obtained by Danchin and Mucha for the incompressible Navier-Stokes system with constant coefficients
Quantifying the macroeconomic cost of night-time bathroom visits: an application to the UK
Little is known on the impact that nocturia (the need to wake up at night to urinate) has on a nationâs economy. While there are many individual factors associated with inadequate sleep (e.g. bad sleep hygiene, chronic sleep disorders such as insomnia or sleep apnea), frequently having to wake up at night to urinate fragments sleep, with negative consequences on an individualâs health and well-being as well as daytime functioning. Using a large-scale UK workforce data, we estimate the prevalence of nocturia in the working population and quantify the lost worker productivity caused by nocturia, measured by absenteeism and presenteeism. This enters our multi-country general equilibrium model, which we calibrate to the UK economy, to estimate the annual macroeconomic cost of nocturia. We find the annual cost of clinically significant nocturia (waking up at least twice to urinate) is around ÂŁ5.4 billion, or equivalently ÂŁ1996 per worker with nocturia. This cost estimate is larger than previous estimates on the productivity effects of nocturia using cost-of-illness (COI) methods, suggesting the importance of taking into account general equilibrium effects when assessing the economic burden of health conditions
Traditional Medicine and Magic According to Some Ethiopian Manuscripts from European Collections
The present paper is dealing exclusively with medico-magical texts and traditions from a Christian Ethiopian environment. The handbooks and collections of various traditional healers in Ethiopia have played a significant role in the chain of transmission of medical and magical knowledge. This paper will focus on the structure and composition strategy exemplified by four Ethiopian manuscripts (MS Or. 11390 from the British Library, MS Ăthiopien 402, 402 and 648 from the BibliothĂšque nationale Paris). The analysis shows how the specialist knowledge was transmitted, preserved and reused. Moreover, it sheds some light on the protagonists of this transfer
Organizing Inspections Regarding Managerial Internal Control and Preventive Financial Control
AbstractThe control environment is the foundation of the whole system of internal control. It constitutes the basis of all other components of internal control. He sets the tone of the organization. It provides discipline and climate that influence the overall quality of internal control. The control environment forms the basis for creating a vision and response to risks and controls from the staff of an organization. This paper presents the control environment that influence the way of establishing the strategy and objectives and how to structure control activities. The essence of any business is the people behind it - their individual tasks, including integrity, ethical values and competence - and the environment in which they work
Aspects population control ceuthorrynchus quadridens in the agricultural in area of Nord Eastern BÄrÄgan
Extending culture of rape was accompanied by increased attacks by pests that are in full ascension. Reducing their
production pests can reach 30-50%, and sometimes, in some years, it can be compromised by the total crop. Winter rape
pests Ceuthorryrinchus quadrides in the agricultural area of BÄrÄganul de nord-est is proving to be the most damaging
some years resulting in the destruction of the production of this crop of great economic importance. The period 2010 -
2011 surveys were conducted on population control this pest using plant protection products with different active
substances to reduce attack by Ceuthorrynchus quadridens below economically damaging (PED) of winter rap
New effective pressure and existence of global strong solution for compressible Navier-Stokes equations with general viscosity coefficient in one dimension
International audienceIn this paper we prove the existence of global strong solution for the Navier-Stokes equations with general degenerate viscosity coefficients. The cornerstone of the proof is the introduction of a new effective pressure which allows to obtain an Oleinik-type estimate for the so called effective velocity. In our proof we make use of additional regularizing effects on the velocity which requires to extend the technics developed by Hoff for the constant viscosity case
