Starting from the mythical motif of eternal fight between the principle of Good and the principle of Evil, the present work propose a comparative analysis between the novel of 19th century The strange case of dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson, called in Portuguese for O médico e o monstro, and your musical adaptation to theater, of 20th century, Jekyll and Hyde, by Leslie Bricusse and Frank Wildborn. The center of analysis will be the figures of Henry Jekyll – the doctor – and mister Edward Hyde – the monster –, from the connection establiched between this characters.A partir do motivo mítico da eterna luta entre o princípio do Bem e o princípio do Mal, o presente trabalho propõe uma análise comparativista entre a novela do século XIX O estranho caso do doutor Jekyll e do senhor Hyde, de Robert Louis Stevenson, conhecida em português também como O médico e o monstro, e sua adaptação musical para o teatro, do século XX, Jekyll and Hyde, de Leslie Bricusse e Frank Wildborn. The topic to be discussed in this essay about the work of Manoel de Barros is the presence of elements of epic and dramatic genres in his poetry, which overlap and intermingle within the space of the lyric genre, transforming the composition of Barros in a hybrid genre. The poem chosen belongs to the first section of Livro sobre nada, entitled “Arte de infantilizar formigas”O tópico a ser analisado, neste ensaio, sobre a obra de Manoel de Barros é a presença sensível de elementos dos gêneros épico e dramático em sua poesia, que se imbricam e se mesclam dentro do espaço do gênero lírico, transformando a composição de Barros num gênero híbrido. DE VICTOR HUGO A WALT DISNEY: UMA RELEITURA DE “O CORCUNDA DE NOTRE-DAME”

The trip to a medieval Paris, the scenery of a tragic love story between a gypsy and a ringerwith physical deformities, created by Victor Hugo in his book Notre-Dame of Paris, popularly known as TheHunchback of Notre-Dame. From the novel of this French writer, Disney industries have produced one of themost known cinematography adaptations, inside the animation films universe. The proposal of this lectureis to establish an analysis from the adaptation of Walt Disney, from 1966, from images and songs that arein the movie. It will be noticed that the visual art which is in Quasímodo and Esmeralda’s plot as well asthe discourse of the songs used by the characters during it, lead the viewer to reflect about tolerance andrespect concerning the differences: physical ( related to Quasímodo) or religious (related to Esmeralda).Among the relationships that generate the intrigue, we could highlight the relations among TheHunchback, the gypsy and Dom Claude Frollo, the antagonist in the novel – from one side, the discourseof the acceptance of the other, the solidarity wish among men and the hope of a fair society; from theother side, the intolerance, the prejudice and the disregard to the less privileged ones.A viagem a uma Paris medieval, cenário da trágica história de amor entre uma cigana e umsineiro deficiente físico, é concebida por Victor Hugo em seu livro Notre-Dame de Paris, popularmenteconhecido como O Corcunda de Notre-Dame. Da obra deste escritor francês, as indústrias Disney realizaramuma das adaptações cinematográficas mais conhecidas, dentro do universo dos filmes de animação. Apropostas desta comunicação é estabelecer uma análise da adaptação de Walt Disney, de 1996, a partir deimagens e canções presentes no filme. Será verificado que a construção da arte visual que arquiteta a tramade Quasímodo e Esmeralda, bem como o discurso das músicas cantadas pelos personagens ao longo datrama, conduzem o espectador a uma reflexão que tem por base a tolerância e o respeito às diferenças:tanto física (no caso de Quasímodo) quanto religiosa (no caso de Esmeralda). Entre os personagens quecompõem a intriga, o destaque será para as relações que se estabelecem entre o Corcunda, a cigana e DomClaude Frollo, antagonista da obra – de um lado, o discurso da aceitação do outro, do desejo desolidariedade entre os homens e da esperança de uma sociedade mais justa; do outro lado, o discurso daintolerância, do preconceito e do menosprezo às minorias

 This article proposes the analysis, using the comparative literature’s theory, the book Mrs. Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf, and the book The hours, by Michael Cunningham, from the intertextuality’s theory. Este trabalho propõe-se a analisar, por intermédio da teoria da literatura comparada, a obra Mrs. Dalloway, de Virginia Woolf, e a obra As horas, de Michael Cunnigham, a partir da teoria da intertextualidade

Between the negligible and the great, between past and present: the dialectical poetics of Manoel de Barros

O propósito deste trabalho é lançar um olhar sobre os caminhos estéticos traçados pelo poeta Manoel de Barros em seu livro Tratado geral das grandezas do ínfimo, procurando demonstrar como se articulam as duas macro-relações que regem os poemas: (a) a dialética entre o ínfimo e o grandioso, e (b) a dialética entre o passado e o presente sendo a figura humana o elemento de ligação entre todas estas vertentes, num movimento cósmico que liga céu e terra, a infância e o momento atual, e os reinos animal, vegetal e mineral, como manifestações do devir da vida humana por meio da palavra. Feitas estas considerações, desenvolvidas as análises, comprovadas as hipóteses, talvez se possa chegar a um patamar interpretativo a respeito dos fundamentos que nortearam o autor na elaboração desta obra-tratado, no que diz respeito às tendências poéticas que trilhou, em consonância com algumas tendências vigentes neste começo de século XXI, sem perder de vista o diálogo aberto pelo artista, avivando relações entre cultura, arte e sociedade.study aims at looking at the aesthetic paths traced by the poet Manoel de Barros in his book Tratado geral das grandezas do ínfimo, in order to demonstrate the relationship between both macro-relations governing the poems: (a) the dialectic between the negligible and the great, and (b) the dialectic between past and present being the human presence the key link among all these aspects in a cosmic movement connecting Heaven and Earth, childhood and present time, and the kingdoms of animal, plant and mineral, as manifestations of the becoming of human life through word. That being said, and after the development of the analysis and the confirmation of the hypotheses, we may reach a level of interpretation about the fundamentals that guided the author in the creation of his work-treaty, considering poetic trends he chose in consonance with some of the poetic trends from the early twenty-first century, also pondering over the dialogue started by the artist reviving the relationship among culture, art and society
