Dynamics of coupled vortices in layered magnetic nanodots

The spin dynamics are calculated for a model system consisting of magnetically soft, layered nanomagnets, in which two ferromagnetic (F) cylindrical dots, each with a magnetic vortex ground state, are separated by a non-magnetic spacer (N). This permits a study of the effects of interlayer magnetostatic interactions on the vortex dynamics. The system was explored by applying the equations of motion for the vortex core positions. The restoring force was calculated taking into account the magnetostatic interactions assuming a realistic surface charge free spin distribution. For tri-layer F/N/F dots with opposite chiralities and the same core polarizations (lowest energy state), two eigenmodes are predicted analytically and confirmed via micromagnetic simulations. One mode is in the sub-GHz range for submicron dot diameters and corresponds to quasi-circular rotation of the cores about the dot center. A second mode is in the MHz range corresponding to a small amplitude rotation of the mean core position. The eigenfrequencies depend strongly on the geometrical parameters of the system, suggesting that magnetostatic effects play a dominant role in determining the vortex dynamics.Comment: One PDF file including text and 4 figure

Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) is afflicted by different variables. Limited information is available regarding the impact of different phases of implant therapy on OHRQoL of edentulous patients. This study was carried out to assess the OHRQoL of patients treated with implant-supported single crowns or fixed partial dentures. A total of 79 healthy partially edentulous subjects needing implant therapy were incorporated in this study. Before placement of the implants, the subjects were instructed to fill the original version of OHIP questionnaire. Subsequently patients received titanium oral implants of the ITI® Dental Implant System. After 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of implant placement, patients filled the same OHIP-49 questionnaire. In this manner the impact of implant therapy on OHRQoL by putting in comparison pre- and post-treatment OHIP-49 scores was assessed. Statistical analyses were performed using Statistical Package for the Social Science software (SPSS, version 22, Chicago, IL, USA). Paired t test and Unpaired t test were performed and a statistical significance was set at 5% level of significance (p0.05). All variables were also significantly decreased from baseline to 2nd year and 3rd year (p0.05). Patients aged less than 60 years and more than 60 years of age groups differed significantly with respect to OHIP scores measured at 1st year, 2nd year and at 3rd year of implant placement (p<0.05). Decrease in pre- and post-treatment OHIP scores OHIP demonstrated the significant increase in the OHRQoL after the therapy, which suggested increased levels of patient satisfaction

Use of Micro Blogging Services in Mass Emergency Situations in Different Countries

This paper presents how people use the Micro blogging (MB) services in emergency situations, and proposing a methodology for investigating if and how cultural differences affect communications broadcasted by people who were on the ground during emergency events. This paper addresses issues of the attributes in micro-blog posts generated during different emergency situations, and the recent political incidents in Syria, Libya, and Egypt are examined, analyzed, and studied in depth detail. The current investigation, approach and methodology were described. The method will help to build for the future awareness detection in social networks. MB services through Social Networking (SN) sites by people in different countries are a common communication channel
