    An Analysis of Five Factors of Personality Traits of Turkish Late Adolescents According to Computer Anxiety

    The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between five factors of personality traits of Turkish late adolescents and computer anxiety in a Turkish study group. The study group consisted of 119 students: 97 females and 22 males. The study data was collected using the Adjective-Based Personality Test and Personal Information Form. Findings of this study revealed that there is no significant statistical difference among the participant scores for the Personality Test Based on Adjectives (ABPT)'s dimensions of emotional instability/neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness and responsibility, owning computers and anxiety during the use of computers

    AbstractThe aim of this study is to identify the students’ perception about materializing counselling and psychological guidance gains, which already exist and are being implemented in the primary class guidance programme, regarding career development in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The data were collected from 6th, 7th and 8th grade 160 students (90 female, 70 male) studying in Istiklal Primary School, Namık Kemal Primary School and Mehmet Varlıoğlu in Kırıkkale in 2010-2011 fall academic term. It was found that students’ most positive perceptions about materializing counselling and psychological guidance gains regarding career development were related to classifying the careers that they are interested in, describing the relationship between achieving their goals

    The Correlation Analysis between Bullying and Experiences in Close Relationships in High School Students

    In this study, it is aimed to determine whether there is correlation between the school bullying and the experiences of adolescents in their close relationships. The participants of this study consisted of children from 9th,10th,11th,12th grades of three different high schools. In this research, Student Relationships Attitude Scale and Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory were used as data collection tools. Results of the study revealed significant positive relationships between the bullying personality attitude and attachment avoidance and attachment worry dimensions of the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory. Significant relationships were found between confident attitude and attachment avoidance dimension of the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory

    NEURAL CONTROL OF CARDIOVASCULAR FUNCTION FOLLOWING SPINAL CORD INJURY IN HUMANS

    Maintenance of stable arterial blood pressure during orthostatic challenges is a major problem after spinal cord injury (SCI). Since early participation in rehabilitation is critically important in reducing long term morbidity, recovering the ability to regulate blood pressure during therapy is essential for individuals with SCI. The objective of our study was to investigate short term cardiovascular function of able-bodied (AB), paraplegic (PARA) and tetraplegic (TETRA) subjects in response to head up tilt (HUT) as an early indicator of autonomic damage that might forewarn of future orthostatic regulatory problems. We acquired cardiovascular variables from able-bodied (AB; n=11), paraplegic (PARA; n=5) and tetraplegic (TETRA; n=5) subjects in response to HUT. The SCI patients in both groups were in their first two months post injury. Data were recorded at rest and during 7 min each at 20??, 40??, 60?? and 80?? HUT. Techniques used to estimate regulatory capability and reflex activity included: Mean values and spectral power of heart rate (HR) and arterial blood pressure (BP), baroreflex sequence measurements and cross correlation between HR and systolic blood pressure (SBP). An index of baroreflex sensitivity (BRS), baroreflex effectiveness index (BEI), and the percentage occurrence of systolic blood pressure (BP) ramps and baroreflex sequences were calculated from baroreflex sequence measurements. The spectral power of HR and BP, the cross correlation of systolic BP and heart rate (HR) were examined in low frequency (LF: 0.04-0.15 Hz) and high frequency (HF: 0.15-0.4 Hz) ranges. The BRS index was significantly (p andlt; 0.05) decreased from supine to 80o HUT in AB and TETRA. This index in PARA was the lowest at each tilt position in the three groups, and decreased with tilt. The percentage of heart beats involved in systolic BP ramps and in baroreflex sequences significantly (pandlt;0.05) rose from supine to 80o HUT in AB, was relatively unchanged in PARA and declined in TETRA. Both of these indexes were significantly (pandlt;0.05) lowerin the SCI than in the AB group at each tilt level. The BEI values were greatest in AB, and declined with tilt in all groups. Spinal cord injured patients had less power of BP and HR fluctuations than AB in both LF and HF regions. The LF spectral power of BP and HR increased with tilt in AB, remained unchanged in PARA and decreased in TETRA. The HF spectral power of HR decreased in all three groups. The peak HR / BP cross correlation in the LF region was greatest in AB, and significantly (pandlt;0.05) increased during HUT in AB, remained fairly constant in PARA, and declined in TETRA. The peak cross correlation in the HF region significantly (pandlt;0.05) decreased with tilt in all groups, and the SCI group had lower values than AB at each tilt level. We conclude that both PARA and TETRA had a smaller percentage of SBP ramps, BRS, and lower BEI than AB, likely indicating decreased stimulation of arterial baroreceptors, and less engagement of feedback control. The mixed sympathetic, parasympathetic innervations of paraplegics, or their elevated HR, may contribute to their significantly lower BRS. Our data indicate that the pathways utilized to evoke baroreflex regulation of HR are compromised by SCI and this loss may be a major contributor to the decrease in orthostatic tolerance following injury

    The Prediction of Cognitive Style of University Students through Personality Types

    oai:ojs.www.dppd.usv.ro:article/24This study aims to analyze how five factor personality dimensions predict cognitive style of university students. 137 (56.8%) female and 104 (43.2%) male students participated into the study. The participants of the study include a total of 241 1st- 4th year students studying at Kırıkkale University during the spring 2012- 2013 academic year. The data of the study were obtained through the use of Cognitive Style Indicator (CoSI) and Personality Test Based on Adjectives (ABPT). The data were analyzed through using of hierarchical regression analysis method. The findings revealed that extraversion and openness to experience predicts creativity in a meaningful way. Furthermore, the openness to experience and responsibility dimensions predicts knowing.

    Araştırmanın amacı üniversite öğrencilerinin sosyal adalete ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Bu çalışma, betimsel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Kırıkkale Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi, Fen ve Edebiyat Fakültesi, İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; Erzincan Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi'nden 2011-2012 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde 1.-4. sınıflarında öğrenim görmekte olan 248 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma grubunun seçiminde uygun örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak üniversite öğrencilerinin sosyal adalet hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiş Sosyal Adalet Kavramına İlişkin Görüşler Formu kullanılmıştır. Bu form, öğrencilerin bu konudaki görüşlerini belirtmelerine yönelik dört açık uçlu sorudan oluşmaktadır. Sosyal adalete dair öğrenci görüşlerine ilişkin frekans ve yüzdeler hesaplanmıştır. Sosyal adalete ilişkin üniversite öğrencilerinin görüşleri arasında; insanların sosyal adalet konusunda bilinçlendirilmesi, herkese adil, eşit, değerli, önyargısız ve saygılı davranma, bir toplumu oluşturan bireylerin eşit hak ve özgürlüklere sahip olması, bireyler arasında sosyal bir fark olmaması yer almıştır. In the choice of study group is used convenience sampling. In this study, Students' Views Regarding Social Justice Form were developed by the researchers in order to determine the views of university students. These forms consisted of four open ended questions related to the students' views about social justice. The answers given to the four open ended questions in the form were combined and gathered under common headers. Frequency and percentages were calculated about student opinions regarding social justice. University students opinions' regarding social justice revealed that the raising awareness about opinions about social justice, educating and learning justice with regards to legal, treating, fair, equal, valuable, respectful and unprejudiced to everybody, giving the individuals getting society equal right and freedom, not being any social differences between individuals.
