    Contributing Factors to Under-Five Child Malnutrition in Rural Bangladesh

    Background and objectives: Bangladesh has the highest malnutrition rates in the world. The main objective of this study is to identify and determine the main factors for child malnutrition among children under the age 5 years in rural Bangladesh. Material and methods: This research was conducted in rural areas at Meherpur district in Bangladesh. Convenience sampling method is used and 85 under 5 child information is collected through a structured questionnaire. The information’s of child’s are gathered from the mothers of the child. Malnourished children is measured by using APLS method and WHO Child Growth Standard Median Index. Binary logistic regression model is used to find out the key factors of malnutrition. Results: It is found that family income, maintain proper diet during pregnancy period, proper diet maintain for children have negative significant (p\u3c0.05) effect on child malnutrition. Conclusion: The magnitude of the child’s malnutrition still is of great concern in Bangladesh. Since, poverty, imbalanced diet during pregnancy period and imbalanced diet for under 5 children influences to malnutrition are significantly associated with high prevalence of malnutrition, so government and people should reduce these factor to reduce malnutrition in rural area of Bangladesh

    Auditor switch decision of Malaysian listed firms: tests of determinants and wealth effect

    This article examines the economic rationale for auditor change by Malaysian listed firms by examining audit switch effect on share prices. The auditor change decision by management to retain or to change involves a switch across audit firms with different quality. Audit quality is defined by classifying the audit firms into Tier 1 (Big-5) firms and Tier 2 (non-Big 5) firms. The distinguishing attribute between the two groups of audit products is believed to be the credibility that each group brings to the audit engagement. Factors associated with the choice of audit firm and changes for firm characteristics associated with auditor choice were investigated using the logistic regression model. The findings show that the auditor switch of Malaysian listed firms is partly explained by changes in management and turnover growth. Changes in firms' characteristics such as asset growth, purchase of fixed asset to total asset, leverage and changes in financing activities explain auditor switches. There appears to be no evidence of significant wealth effect from auditor switch announcements

    Ab-initio insights into the physical properties of XIr3 (X = La, Th) superconductors: A comparative analysis

    Here we report the structural, elastic, bonding, thermo-mechanical, optoelectronic and superconducting state properties of recently discovered XIr3 (X = La, Th) superconductors utilizing the density functional theory (DFT). The elastic, bonding, thermal and optical properties of these compounds are investigated for the first time. The calculated lattice and superconducting state parameters are in reasonable agreement to those found in the literature. In the ground state, both the compounds are mechanically stable and possess highly ductile character, high machinability, low Debye temperature, low bond hardness and significantly high melting point. The thermal conductivities of the compounds are found to be very low which suggests that they can be used for thermal insulation purpose. The population analysis and charge density distribution map confirm the presence of both ionic and covalent bonds in the compounds with ionic bond playing dominant roles. The calculated band structure and DOS profiles indicate metallic character. Unlike the significant anisotropy observed in elastic and thermal properties, all the optical constants of these compounds exhibit almost isotropic behavior. The optical constants correspond very well with the electronic band structure and DOS features. We have estimated the superconducting transition temperature of the compounds in this work

    Comprehensive first-principles insights into the physical properties of intermetallic Zr3_3Ir: a noncentrosymmetric superconductor

    We have looked into the structural, mechanical, optoelectronic, superconducting state and thermophysical aspects of intermetallic compound Zr3_3Ir using the density functional theory (DFT). Many of the physical properties, including direction dependent mechanical properties, Vickers hardness, optical properties, chemical bonding nature, and charge density distributions, are being investigated for the first time. According to this study, Zr3_3Ir exhibits ductile features, high machinability, significant metallic bonding, a low Vickers hardness with low Debye temperature, and a modest level of elastic anisotropy. The mechanical and dynamical stabilities of Zr3_3Ir have been confirmed. The metallic nature of Zr3_3Ir is seen in the electronic band structures with a high electronic energy density of states at the Fermi level. The bonding nature has been explored by the charge density mapping and bond population analysis. The tetragonal Zr3_3Ir shows a remarkable electronic stability, as confirmed by the presence of a pseudogap in the electronic energy density of states at the Fermi level between the bonding and antibonding states. Optical parameters show very good agreement with the electronic properties. The reflectivity spectra reveal that Zr3_3Ir is a good reflector in the infrared and near-visible regions. Zr3_3Ir is an excellent ultra-violet (UV) radiation absorber. High refractive index at visible photon energies indicates that Zr3_3Ir could be used to improve the visual aspects of electronic displays. All the optical constants exhibit a moderate degree of anisotropy. Zr3_3Ir has a moderate melting point, high damage tolerance, and very low minimum thermal conductivity. The thermomechanical characteristics of Zr3_3Ir reveal that it is a potential thermal barrier coating material. The superconducting state parameters of Zr3_3Ir are also explored

    Giant condyloma acuminatum of vulva

    In this paper, A 23 year old married woman who was diagnosed as a case of giant condyloma acuminatum of vulva measuring about 15 x 8 x 3 cm, irregular surface with multiple projections, oval in shape, firm to hard in consistency, mildly tender, exophytic, cauliflower like growth involving the whole vulva (lower part of mons pubis, labia, vestibule, clitoris, around vaginal opening). Another multiple small lesions were present at perineal region but there was no inguinal lymphadenopathy. She underwent a combined electro cauterization and cryotherapy for small to moderate size multiple primary and recurrent warty lesions and wide surgical excision with fasciocutaneous advancement flaps procedure for a giant lesions in the vulva. Excisional biopsies were performed to detect potential malignancy but malignancy was not found histologically. The patient was advised to first follow-up 1 month after operation when multiple small warty lesions were developed and treated and the subsequent follow-ups for 3 months
