    Today, the current development of Batam City is not only in the development of industrial and tourism areas but also leads to the development of agriculture and plantations. This was done as a form of effort in maintaining food security for areas in Batam City, where initially a lot of food needs were supplied from areas on the island of Sumatra. The city of Batam, whose territory consists of islands, creates obstacles in the development of agricultural land and plantations. Among them are types of soil that are difficult for seasonal crops to grow; water resources that depend on rainwater; as well as access to agricultural and plantation locations that are spread across several islands, making it difficult to deliver logistics and agricultural products. Soil conditions greatly affect the quality of the plants produced, and the type of soil will affect the types of plants suitable for planting. Based on these obstacles, the Batam State Polytechnic formed a Community Service team to support the agricultural land development program, one of which was the development team for portable soil condition measuring devices in collaboration with a partner from “Kelompok Tani Maju Mandiri” on Setokok Island. Community service activities are carried out in stages, apart from field surveys in order to identify the needs of farmer groups, the current community service period has reached the development of portable soil condition measuring devices with test results still in laboratory testing and not yet testing on actual agricultural land. The field survey results describe the condition of the partner's agricultural soil, which is brownish-red in color, mostly clay. Plants that are quite successful in the form of green curly chili plants. The water source comes from small rain-fed reservoirs prepared around agricultural land. The results of the measuring instrument design have reached the laboratory testing stage, which has shown the value of soil nutrition. Testing measurements on agricultural land directly and assisting partners in operating measuring instruments will be carried out at the next community service stage.Dewasa ini, perkembangan Kota Batam saat ini tidak hanya pada pengembangan kawasan industri serta pariwisata, tetapi juga mengarah pada perkembangan pertanian dan perkebunan. Hal tersebut dilakukan sebagai salah satu bentuk usaha dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan untuk wilayah di Kota Batam yang awalnya kebutuhan pangan banyak disuplai dari daerah di Pulau Sumatera. Kota Batam yang wilayahnya terdiri dari kepulauan menimbulkan kendala dalam pengembangan lahan pertanian dan perkebunan. Di antaranya jenis tanah yang sulit ditumbuhi tanaman musiman; sumberdaya air yang bergantung pada air hujan; serta akses menuju lokasi pertanian dan perkebunan yang tersebar di beberapa pulau sehingga  menyulitkan dalam pengiriman logistik dan hasil pertanian. Kondisi tanah sangat mempengaruhi kualitas tanaman yang dihasilkan, serta jenis tanah akan mempengaruhi jenis tanaman yang cocok di tanam. Berdasarkan kendala tersebut Politeknik Negeri Batam membentuk tim Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat dalam mendukung program pengembangan lahan pertanian, salah satunya adalah tim pengembangan alat pengukur nutrisi tanah portable yang bekerjasama dengan mitra “Kelompok Tani Maju Mandiri” di Pulau Setokok. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan secara bertahap, selain survei lapangan dalam rangka identifikasi kebutuhan kelompok tani, periode pengabdian kepada masyarakat sekarang telah sampai pada pengembangan alat ukur kondisi tanah portable dengan hasil pengujian masih pada pengujian laboratorium dan belum sampai pengujian pada lahan pertanian sebenarnya. Hasil survei lapangan menggambarkan kondisi tanah pertanian dari mitra yang berwarna merah kecoklatan yang sebagian besar merupakan tanah liat. Tanaman yang cukup berhasil dipanen berupa tanaman cabai keriting hijau. Sumber air berasal dari waduk kecil tadah hujan yang dipersiapkan disekitar lahan pertanian. Hasil disain alat ukur, telah sampai pada tahap pengujian laboratorium yang telah mampu menunjukan nilai dari nutrisi tanah. Pengujian pengukuran dilahan pertanian secara langsung, serta pendampingan kepada mitra dalam pengoperasian alat ukur akan dilaksanakan pada tahapan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berikutnya

    A Simple Aerial Photogrammetric Mapping System Overview and Image Acquisition Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)

    Aerial photogrammetry is one of the Alternative technologies for more detailed data, real time, fast and cheaper. Nowadays, many photogrammetric mapping methods have used UAV / unmanned drones or drones to retrieve and record data from an object in the earth. The application of drones in the field of geospatial science today is in great demand because of its relatively easy operation and relatively affordable cost compared to satellite systems especially high - resolution satellite imagery.  This research aims to determine the stage or overview of data retrieval process with DJI Phantom 4 (multi - rotor quad - copter drone) with processing using third party software. This research also produces 2 - dimensional high resolution image data on the research area. Utilization of third party software (Agisoft PhotoScan) making it easier to acquire and process aerial photogrammetric data. The results of aerial photogrammetric recording with a flying altitude of 70 meters obtained high resolution images with a spatial resolution of 2 inches / pixels.&nbsp

    Coffee (Coffea spp. L.) is one of the annual plants cultivated in Indonesia and is included in the strategic category. One of the areas for developing coffee plantations in East Java Province is located in Jember Regency with the greatest potential in Pace Village. Robusta coffee cultivation in Pace Village is developed to the post-harvest stage. One of the post-harvest activities for robusta coffee developed by the Women Farmers Group (KWT) is product innovation. The purpose of this research is to create an innovative dish soap product made from robusta coffee powder as an output in the service of Real Work Lectures (KKN) in 2022. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method. Based on the results of the study, the presence of dish soap is the result of an agro-industrial product with a brown color and a slightly thick texture. The coffee product agroindustry is expected to improve the economy of the Pace Village community and increase the Pace community's ability to process coffee products so that they do not depend on coffee middlemen. &nbsp

    Edukasi Penyelaman Aman bagi Nelayan Pesisir Montong Lombok Barat

    Traditional diver diving activities look for fish by archery underwater frequently do not pay attention to safety aspects, so there is an increasing risk of causing diving injuries. Diving injuries are preventable injuries, if safe diving guidelines are followed and obeyed. Diving injuries symptoms can be mild to severe, so education about prevention and recognition of disease disorders that can occur due to diving is being given. The community service is carried out in two simultaneous activities: diving safety lectures and general medical examination. The participants, 30 participants for general medical examination, and 4 participants for traditional divers. Of the 30 participants for general medical examination, it was predominantly female (18/30), with an age range of 4-60 years with a median age of 37 years. The most common diseases that are complained of are upper respiratory tract infections (ARI) (8/30), skin complaints (6/30), hypertension (6/30), diabetes (4/30), headaches (3/30), diarrhea (1/30), musculoskeletal complaints (1/30) and toothache (1/30). Education is carried out to all participants. The media used were a slide projector and x-banner. Four traditional divers comes with 3 Decompression sickness and 1 barotrauma. Questions coverage diving preparation, Diving techniques and do's and don't's after diving. The community service went well with 34 enthusiastic participants filled by questions. Three most common diseases being ARI, skin complaints and hypertension and diving injuries of decompression sickness and barotrauma.Kegiatan menyelam yang dilakukan penyelam tradisional untuk mencari ikan dengan memanah seringkali tidak memperhatikan aspek keselamatan, sehingga risiko cedera penyelaman meningkat. Cedera penyelaman merupakan cedera yang dapat dicegah, jika panduan penyelaman yang aman dipelajari dan dipatuhi. Cedera penyelaman dapat ringan sampai dengan kematian, sehingga edukasi tentang pencegahan dan pengenalan gangguan-gangguan penyakit yang dapat terjadi akibat penyelaman perlu dilakukan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dalam dua kegiatan yang bersamaan: ceramah keamanan penyelaman dan pengobatan gratis. Masyarakat menghadiri kegiatan pengabdian cukup antusias, 30 peserta pengobatan gratis, adapun penyelam tradisional yang berpartisipasi sejumlah 4 orang.  Dari 30 peserta pengobatan gratis didominasi jenis kelamin perempuan (18/30), dengan rentang usia 4 – 60 tahun dengan median usia 37 tahun. Penyakit tersering yang dikelukan adalah infeksi saluran pernafasan atas (ISPA) (8/30), keluhan kulit (6/30), hipertensi (6/30), diabetes (4/30), sakit kepala (3/30), diare (1/30), keluhan musculoskeletal (1/30) dan sakit gigi (1/30). Edukasi dilakukan kepada semua masyarakat hadir. Media edukasi yang dipergunakan adalah slide projector dan x-banner. Sebanyak 4 penyelam tradisional datang dengan diagnosis 3 penyakit dekompresi dan 1 barotrauma. Pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang muncul terkait persiapan penyelaman, teknik penyelaman dan do’s and don’t’s setelah menyelam. Kegiatan pengabdian berlangsung dengan baik dihadiri 34 peserta dan diisi dengan pertanyaan interaktif. Tiga penyakit terbanyak ISPA, keluhan kulit dan hipertensi dengan cedera penyelaman berupa penyakit dekompresi dan barotrauma

    COVID-19 menyerang manusia pada akhir tahun 2019. Penyebaran COVID-19 terjadi melalui droplet/cairan yang keluar dari mulut/hidung manusia. Antisipasi penyebaran COVID-19 dilakukan dengan menerapkan pola hidup bersih dan sehat. Salah satu caranya adalah dengan mencuci tangan menggunakan hand sanitizer. Penggunaan hand sanitizer di tempat umum memungkinkan terjadinya kontak fisik antar pengguna sehingga diperlukan cara untuk mengurangi kontak fisik tersebut. Cara yang bisa diterapkan adalah dengan menggunakan hand sanitizer otomatis. Prinsip dari hand sanitizer otomatis ini adalah ketika tangan didekatkan dengan botol hand sanitizer maka secara otomatis cairan akan keluar dengan sendirinya ke telapak tangan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, hand sanitizer telah berhasil dibuat dan dapat digunakan di Politeknik Negeri Batam

    Evaluasi Penyediaan Air Bersih Dengan Sumber Listrik Tenaga Surya Untuk Fasilitas Umum Desa Pasir Panjang

    In 2018, Batam State Polytechnic has carried out community service in the village of Pasir Panjang, Rempang Island. Pasir Panjang village is one of the villages that is still not electrified by the local electricity company. The village also experiences difficulties in providing clean water because of its location on the coast. Therefore, the dedication of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the State Polytechnic of Batam in the form of grants and installation of water pumps for public facility with an independent power source from a 100WP solar cell. The problem arises when after carrying out the installation, the water pump cannot pump water properly. In the following year, the service was continued by making improvements to the electrical installation system. Starting from the analysis of the causes of system failure to repair. From the analysis and observation, it is known that the cause of the pump not working properly is due to a decrease in voltage because the Rs value in the solar cell system is quite large. By changing the cable size for current distribution, this problem can be resolved.Pada tahun 2018, Politeknik Negeri Batam telah melaksanakan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di desa Pasir Panjang pulau Rempang. Desa pasir panjang merupakan salah satu desa yang masih belum teraliri listrik oleh perusahaan listrik setempat. Di desa tersebut juga mengalami kesulitan penyediaan air bersih karena lokasinya yang berada di pesisir pantai. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian yang dilakukan Jurusan Teknik Elektro Politeknik Negeri Batam berupa hibah dan pemasangan pompa air untuk tempat umum dengan sumber listrik mandiri dari solar cell 100WP. Permasalahan muncul ketika setelah mekalukan instalasi, pompa air tidak dapat memompa air dengan semestinya. Pada Tahun berikutnya, pengabdian dilanjutkan dengan melakukan perbaikan pada sistem instalasi listriknya. Dimulai dari analisa penyebab kegagalan sistem sampai perbaikannya. Dari hasil analisa dan pengamatan, diketahui bahwa penyebab pompa tidak dapat bekerja dengan baik adalah karena terjadi penurunan tegangan karena nilai Rs pada sistem solar cell cukup besar.     BACKGROUND Methotrexate (MTX) could lower glucose levels in type 1 diabetes mellitus, while Moringa oleifera and Andrographis paniculata supplementations have similar effects on hyperglycemia. This study aimed to analyze the effects of MTX, M. oleifera, and A. paniculata leaf extracts on the myocardial interleukin (IL)-6 and the histopathology of the left ventricle and aorta. METHODS 49 rats were divided equally into 7 groups: negative control and diabetic induced by streptozotocin-nicotinamide (STZ-NA) injection consisting of positive control (STZ-NA only), M. oleifera (500 mg/kgBW/day), A. paniculata (500 mg/kgBW/day), MTX (7 mg/kgBW/week), MTX (7 mg/kgBW/week)+M. oleifera (500 mg/kgBW/day), and MTX (7 mg/kgBW/week)+A. paniculata (500 mg/kgBW/day). We analyzed oral MTX, M. oleifera, and A. paniculata leaf extracts’ effects on random blood glucose, myocardial IL-6, and cardiac histopathology of STZ-NA-induced hyperglycemic male rats. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Kruskal–Wallis tests. RESULTS Myocardial IL-6 in the M. oleifera group was significantly lower compared to the positive control group (p = 0.041). Compared to the positive control group, the myocardial necrosis and aortic intima–media thickness in the MTX+A. paniculata group were significantly reduced (p = 0.005 and 0.001, respectively). CONCLUSIONS MTX, M. oleifera, and A. paniculata showed antihyperglycemic effect, both individually and in combination. A. paniculata leaf extract had a significant cardioprotective effect in STZ-NA-induced hyperglycemia
