This course is designed to reinforce basic concepts of environmental and occupational health. Students will be exposed to the current impact of potential environmental and occupational health and safety hazards. Students will also be exposed to current concepts associated with environmental and occupational regulatory standards, assessment protocols, sampling and monitoring techniques, and remediation strategies

PUBH 4331 – Occupational Health in Public Health Practice

This course provides an overview of the key issues and practices related to workplace hazards in public health practice. Students will be introduced key concepts of environmental epidemiology, toxicology, preparedness, disease management, prevention, and health promotion in occupational settings that both workers and the public are impacted. The course covers primary methods of pollutant exposure assessment, a basic understanding of environmental toxicology, health effects of chemical, biological, and physical agents in a variety of facilities from agricultural, to service industry, private sector to healthcare settings. Students will also be introduced to safety regulations in these settings

ENVH 7233 - Environmental Exposure and Impact Assessment

Introduces students to appropriate design, implementation, and analysis of primary environmental exposures and how they are influenced by public health ethics, equity and disparities. Specific topics covered include designing risk profiles; evaluating dose-response relationships; assessing the contribution of public health ethics, equity and disparities to environmental exposures; and analyzing field exposures of toxins

PUBH 6532 - Environmental Health (Online)

Survey of specific environmental conditions and factors that contribute to the development of health problems in communities. Health effects, policy issues, intervention strategies and control programs for community environmental health protection are discussed

Introduces students to chemical, physical, and biological principles of air quality, as well as potential sources of contamination and the resulting effects. The course will also introduce environmental policies pertinent to air issues along with current remediation strategies to ameliorate pollution

PUBH 6532A - Environmental Health

This course is designed for graduate students and provides students with an introduction and overview of the key areas of environmental health. Students will gain an understanding of the interaction of individuals and communities with the environment. Impact of environmental agents on human and ecosystem health will be analyzed. This course will also introduce current topics in global environmental health and challenges faced under the changing climate and socio-economic needs and examine recent case studies and their outcomes related to environmental policy and management
