    Power Rayleigh Distribution for Fitting Total Deaths of Covid-19 in Egypt

    The Rayleigh distribution incorporate the lifetime of an object or a service time. In this paper, a new model, called, Power Rayleigh distribution (PR) is submitted for specifying the confirmed total deaths of Corona virus (Covid-19) in Egypt. Statistical and reliability properties of the PR distribution such as survival function, failure rate function, mean residual life, order statistic and extreme value distribution are deduced and studied. Maximum likelihood method is used to evaluate the unknown parameters. Simulation Schemes are introduced. Finally, two sets of real-life data are construed and observed that the new model can provide a best fit to water runoff data and the total deaths of Covid-19 data than other well-known distributions

    Effectiveness of Surgical Interventions for Self-Sucking in Dairy Cattle: A Comparative Study

    Self-sucking behavior in cows, is a behavioral defect that leads to significant milk loss in dairy farming. This retrospective case series aims to present the surgical experience and long-term outcomes of 200 cows exhibiting self-sucking behavior. The objective of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of four surgical techniques used to treat self-sucking in cows, including wound healing, complications, recurrence, and feeding difficulties. The follow-up period extended up to 2 years postoperatively, with repeated visits by the same surgeon. The study included 200 cows of mixed and native breeds. Four surgical techniques were employed to address self-sucking behavior. The same surgeon monitored the outcomes over time, assessing factors such as wound healing, complications, recurrence rates, and feeding difficulties. Long-term analysis revealed that the more invasive techniques, such as lateral glossectomy and ventral partial glossectomy, demonstrated the highest success rates at 100% and 96% respectively. In contrast, the less invasive techniques, ventral lingual inverting sutures and intralingual sutures, had success rates of 58% and 50% respectively. This study provides valuable insights into the long-term outcomes of various surgical techniques for correcting self-sucking behavior in cattle. The results indicate that lateral partial full thickness glossectomy yielded favorable outcomes with no recurrence and minimal postoperative complications. The findings from this study offer important considerations for decision-making regarding the optimal surgical correction of self-sucking in cattle, assisting veterinarians and farmers in selecting the most effective approach

    Bayesian estimation of P[Y \u3c X] Based on Record Values from the Lomax Distribution and MCMC Technique

    Our interest is in estimating the stress-strength reliability R = P[Y \u3c X], where X and Y follow the Lomax distribution with common scale parameter. We discuss the problem in the situation where the stress measurements and the strength measurements are both in terms of records. Firstly, we obtain the MLE of R in general case (the common scale parameter is unknown). The MLE of the three unknown parameters can be obtained by solving one non-linear equation. We provide a simple fixed point type algorithm to find the MLE. We propose percentile bootstrap confidence intervals of R. A Bayes point estimator of R, and the corresponding credible interval using the MCMC sampling technique have been proposed. Secondly, assuming the common scale parameter is known, the MLE of R is obtained. Using exact distributions of the MLEs of the two unknown parameters, we construct the exact confidence interval of R. In this case, Bayes estimators have been obtained using Lindley\u27s approximations. Analysis of a simulated data set has been presented for illustrative purposes. Finally, the different proposed methods have been compared via Monte Carlo simulation study

    Weibull-Linear Exponential Distribution and Its Applications

    In this article, a new four-parameter lifetime distribution, namely, the Weibull-Linear exponential distribution is defined and studied. Several of its structural properties such as quartiles, moments, mean waiting time, mean residual lifetime, Renyi entropy, mode, and order statistics are derived. Based on the idea of the Weibull T − X family, the new density function of this model is developed. The model parameters, as well as some of the lifetime parameters (reliability and failure rate functions), are estimated using the maximum likelihood method. Asymptotic confidence intervals estimates of the model parameters are also evaluated by using the Fisher information matrix. Moreover, to construct the asymptotic confidence intervals of the reliability and failure rate functions, we need to find their variance of them, which are approximated by the delta method. A real data set is used to illustrate the application of the Weibull-Linear Exponential distribution

    Amenability of heap leaching technology on uranium extraction from Gattar and El Missikat area, Eastern Desert, Egypt: A kinetic approach

    Studies of uranium heap leaching from different uranium mineralization situated in Eastern Desert of Egypt was investigated via batch experiments, followed by its optimum condition applicationon column percolationtests.The optimum process operating parameters were implemented on large column scale in order to make more condition control and evaluate the time and reagents needed in the large scale. The results show thatleaching efficiency of GIIattained about 78.3% with 34kg/ton acid consumption in a 44 days period, while leaching efficiency of El-Missikat attained about 86.6% with 28kg/ton acid consumption in a 40 days period.Kinetics reaction models of column tests have been investigated to optimize the column leaching behavior. Based on the leaching results of two mineralized samples, the rate of the uranium metal dissolution is controlled by the chemical reaction and the diffusion reaction but diffusion reaction control was more predominate than a chemical reaction control

    The influence of vitamin D supplementation on local and systemic inflammatory markers in periodontitis patients: A pilot study

    OBJECTIVES: Vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency is a worldwide public health issue that has been linked to numerous inflammatory disorders, including periodontitis. There is increasing support for a role for adequate vitamin D levels in overall health. Populations with darker skin color have a higher prevalence of vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency and periodontitis. The purpose of this small pilot study was to investigate the influence of 12 weeks of 25(OH)D vitamin D supplementation (VDS) on mediators of systemic inflammation in dark-skinned, periodontitis patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 23 patients with moderate to severe periodontitis were randomly assigned to the vitamin D group or placebo group and received intensive single visit scaling and root planning to elicit a systemic inflammatory response. RESULTS: Vitamin D supplementation increased serum 25(OH)D levels approximately 2-fold over baseline levels; moreover, VDS group had reduced peripheral blood CD3 and CD3+CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTLs) counts and reduced pro-inflammatory salivary cytokines. In contrast, VDS group had higher levels of the autophagy-related proteins and other proteins crucial for anti-microbial autophagy in whole blood PBMCs. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, VDS has multiple benefits for reducing systemic inflammation and promoting induction of autophagy-related proteins related to anti-microbial functions
