Security of Poland in united Europe. Selected conditions

Artykuł dotyczy problematyki bezpieczeństwa i obrony Polski na tle Unii Europejskiej, jak również wzmocnienia potencjału UE w dziedzinie zarządzania kryzysowego oraz współpracy w sferze bezpieczeństwa i obrony. Przedstawia również ogólną charakterystykę procesu pogłębiania integracji europejskiej, polegającego na przechodzeniu do coraz wyższych form współpracy między państwami członkowskimi. Artykuł porusza również kwestie bezpieczeństwa narodowego i międzynarodowego, a także scharakteryzowane są w nim niektóre organizacje i jednostki polityczno-wojskowe, działające na rzecz pokoju tak w ramach Unii Europejskiej jak i NATO.The article discusses the issues of the security and defence of Poland as compared to the European Union, the problems of strengthening the EU's potential in the field of crisis management and the reinforcement of cooperation in the area of security and defence. The article also presents the general situation of the process of increasing European integration, which consists in moving towards more and more superior forms of cooperation between Member states. The authors of the article also discuss the issues of national and international security and describe selected organisations and political and military unitsacting for peace both within the European Union and NATO

INFLUENCE OF THE CRACK PROPAGATION VELOCITY ON HEAT RELEASE IN COMPRESSOR BLADES DURING FATIGUE TESTS

In this work, the influence of the crack propagation velocity on heat release in blade was shown. Research was be performed during fatigue test of the compressor blade. In the investigations, the blade with the V-notch was examined. The blades during experiment were entered into transverse vibration by a vibration system Unholtz-Dickie UDCO-TA-250. The crack propagation process was conducted in resonance condition. The blades were periodically bended what simulates geometry changes during operation of the engine. The main part of the work is based on research of fatigue. During investigations both the amplitude of the crack length and also the blade tip displacement were controlled. Additional velocity of crack propagation was measured by change of a crack length in time. In the same time temperature, distribution pictures were observed. The taken picture was used to exhibit the phenomenon and shown the heat propagation direction. The main results of presented investigation are both the parameters of a crack and the crack growth dynamics in the compressor blade subjected to vibrations. An additional original result of the work is connection between velocity of crack propagation and temperature distribution taken from picture. The result of above analysis can be used in determining the amount of energy released during the cracking process and evaluate the amount of energy required for the growth of a gap. In this work, the capabilities of the proposed method and the problems associated with it were defined. The results presented in this paper have theoretical and practical value

Ethnic war in former Yugoslavia. Origins and consequences. Selected aspects

W artykule przedstawiono źródła i skutki wojny etnicznej w byłej Jugosławii oraz konflikty etniczno-narodowościowe w tym państwie, jak również proces rozpadu państwa jugosłowiańskiego oraz tragedię i krzywdę ludności cywilnej poniesioną w wyniku działań wojennych. Zawarto także opis zmian pokoleniowych na szczytach władzy i dramatyczne wyjście z federacji poszczególnych republik, począwszy od tych najbogatszych. Scharakteryzowano główne elementy strategii UE wobec Bałkanów Zachodnich (zawarte w ramach Procesu Stabilizacji i Stowarzyszenia) oraz przedstawiono działania polityczne i wojskowe NATO w Kosowie.The article discusses the origins and consequences of the ethnic war in the former Yugoslavia, ethnic and national conflicts in that country, the process of the disintegration of the Yugoslav Republic and the tragedy and harm of the civilian population resulting from war operations. The article also presents generational changes that occurred in the top tiers of the authorities and the dramatic exit of individual republics from the federation, staring with the richest ones. The main elements of EU’s strategies for the western Balkans are characterised in the article (included in the Stabilisation and Association Process), and political and NATO military operations in Kosovo are also presented

Terrorism as threat to security of contemporary world. Selected aspects

Artykuł zawiera różne definicje terroryzmu oraz motywy i sposoby działań w szeroko rozumianym terroryzmie. Opisano terroryzm świecki i religijny z jego cechami wspólnymi i różnicami. W artykule przedstawiono terroryzm jako obecnie największe zagrożenie dla bezpieczeństwa międzynarodowego. Opisano sposoby przeprowadzenia ataków terrorystycznych na świecie, a w szczególności w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Wielkiej Brytanii.The article includes various definitions of terrorism, and the motives and methods of operation in terrorism in a broad sense. The article describes secular and religious terrorism with its common features and differences. In the article terrorism is presented as currently the biggest threat to international security. The authors describe some methods of carrying out terrorist attacks in the world, particularly in the United States and Great Britain
