Urban space is fundamentally affected by the people living inside and around. The clash of different lifestyles, cultures and personal backgrounds appears in urban space showing borders, power relations, public and private spaces. Especially the moving in of migrants changes the appearance and the socio-cultural structure of urban districts. The heterogeneity becomes visible in space: on the one hand space is able to visualise the discourse about migration and integration on every level and on the other hand space is constructed by the discourse in a specific way. This article discusses the complexity of transnational and multilocal constructions of identities of migrant people and their influence on the development of different, potentially heterotope, spaces, using examples of an empirical research work
