This paper describes the analysis and transfer of support verb constructions in Korean within the framework of the multilingual machine translation system CAT2. In Korean the support verb constructions consist of a postpositional phrase including a predicate noun and a support verb like hata, toyta, kata etc. For the syntactic analysis of the support verb constructions of Korean we propose that they should be processed by the sharing of argument structure which the predicate nouns and the support verbs have respectively on their lexicon entries. Within the machine translation system CAT2 the transfer of the support verb construction is defined as translation between a predicate noun in Korean and its equivalent word in the target language. This makes simple transfer possible because the translation of support verb constructions is made compositionally like word-to-word transfer
