간호학과/박사[한글] 본 연구의 목적은 중년여성들이 경험하는 발달현상에 대한 태도와 그들이 호소하는 갱년기증상을 조사함으로써 중년여성의 발달현상에 대한 태도와 갱년기증상의 호소정도와의 관계를 밝히는데 있다. 가설은 중년여성의 발달현상에 대한 태도가 긍정적일수록 갱년기증상의 호소정도는 낮을 것이다로 설정되었다. 연구방법은 가정방문을 통한 직접면접과 질문지를 이용한 조사방법을 사용하였다. 연구대상은 1983년 7월초부터 동년 9월초까지 서울시내에 거주하고 있는 40대에서 59세까지의 여성 전수를 대상으로 다단계 계통 추출방법 (Multistage Systematic Sampling)에 의해서 추출되고 연구대상 선정기준에 부합되는 여성 294명이었다. 연구도구는 연구자에 의해서 개발된 발달현상에 대한 태도척도와 갱년기 증상 척도를 포함한 질문지를 사용하였다. 자료의 분석은 가설의 검증을 위하여 Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, 가설의 추가검증을 위하여 Partial Correlation Coefficient로 검증하였고 추가분석으로서 발달현상에 대한 태도 및 갱년기 증상과의 관계를 t-Test, Analysis of Variance, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, Stepwise Multiple Regression에 의해서 검증되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가설검증에서 발달현상에 대한 태도와 갱년기 증상과의 관계는 통계적으로 유의한 역상관관계(r=-.1345, p<.05)가 있는 것으로 나타나 가설인 중년여성의 발달현상에 대한 태도가 긍정적일수록 갱년기 증상의 호소정도는 낮을 것이다는 받아들여졌다. 가설의 추가검증으로서 발달현상에 대한 태도와갱년기 증상호소와의 관계에 영향을 주었는가를 확인하기 위하여 발달현상과 갱년기 증상호소와의 관계를 검증한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계(r=.2419, p<.001)가 있었으므로 발달현상을 통제하고 발달현상에 대한 태도와 갱년기 증상호소와의 부분상관관계를 다시 검증한 결과 통계적으로 유의하였다(r=-.1342, p<.05). 즉 가설에서 검증된 발달현상에 대한 태도와 갱년기 증상과의 관계가 통계적으로 유의하였던 결과는 발달현상의 영향이 아니라는 것을 나타내어 가설은 지지되었다. 또한 발달현상에 대한 차원별태도와 갱년기 증상호소와의 관계를 검증한 결과 폐경에 대한 태도(r=-.0684, p>.05) 노화현상에 대한 태도(r=-.0981, p>.05)와 갱년기 증상호소와의 관계는 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 없었으며 자녀독립에 대한 태도(r=-.1222, p<.05) 와 갱년기 증상호소와의 관계는 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 있었다. 따라서 가설은 부분적으로 받아 들여야 한다. 둘째, 중년여성이 경험한 발달현상과 발달현상에 대한 태도와의 관계는 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계가 없었다.(r=.0467, p>.05). 그러나 차원별 발달현상과 태도와의 관계를 분석한 결과 월경상태와 폐경에 대한 태도와의 관계는 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 있었다(F=10.36, p<.001). 셋째, 중년여성의 발달현상에 대한 태도와 일반적특성과의 관계를 분석한 결과 학력(F=5.92, p<.001), 월수입(F=2.44, p<.05), 자녀수(r=-.1204, p<.05), 결혼만족도(r=.2665, p<.001)와 발달현상에 대한 태도와의 관계가 통계적으로 유의하였다. 넷째, 갱년기 증상호소와 일반적특성과의 관계를 분석한 결과 결혼만족도 만이 갱년기 증상호소와 통계적으로 유의한 관계(r=-.228, p<.001)가 있었다. 이와 같이 중년여성의 발달현상에 대한 태도 및 결혼만족도가 갱년기 증상호소와 유의한 관계가 있는 것으로 검증됨으로써 여성들의 발달현상에 대한 태도가 긍정적이며 결혼만족도가 높을수록 갱년기 증상의 호소 정도가 낮게 나타난 본 연구결과를 여성들에게 발달현상에 대하여 상담, 심리적인 지지등을 제공하여 발달현상에 대한 태도를 긍적적으로 변화시킴으로써 갱년기 증상을 예방하고 해소시켜 주는 간호중재에 적용될 수 있어야 한다. [영문] This study was done for the purpose of analyzing the relationship between middle-aged women's attitudes toward middle adulthood developmental changes and their self-reported symptoms. The hypothesis tested was that middle aged women's attitudes toward middle adulthood developmental changes are negatively related to the degree of their self-reported climacteric symptoms. The study employed a cross-sectional survey design. Data were gatheredduring a home visit by a questionnaire from July to September, 1983. The subjects were 294 Seoul women between 40 and 59 years of age selected by multistage systematic sampling. The instruments used for this study were The Middle-Aged Women's Developmental Attitude Scale and The Climacteric Symptoms Scale developed by the researcher. Analysis of data was done by the Pearsons Correlation Coefficient and Partial Correlation Coefficient, t-Test, Analysis of Variance and Stepwise Multiple Regression. The results of the study were as follows; 1. Regarding the hypothesis, the relationship between women's attitudes toward their middle adulthood developmental changes and the degree of self-reported climacteric symptoms was statistically significant(r=-.1345, p<.05). After controlling for reported developmental changes , the relationship between the women's attitudes toward middle adulthood developmental changes and the degree of their self-reported symptoms was still statistically significant(r=-.1342, p<.05). When the relationships among three dimensions of attitudes toward middle adulthood developmental changes and the degree of their self-reported climacteric symptoms were explored, only the relationship between attitudes toward children's launching and self-reported climacteric symptoms was statistically significant(r=-.1222, p<.05). 2. The relationship of the middle-aged women's reported developmental changes and their attitudes toward developmental changes was not statistically significant(r=.046, p>,05), but the the relationship between menstrual state and their attitude toward menopause was statistically significant(F=10.36, p<.001). 3. When the relationship between the middle-aged women's attitudes and their general characteristics were explored, education(F=5.92, p<.001), family income(F=2.44, p<.05), number of children(r=-.1204, p<.05), and marital satisfaction (r=.2665, p<.001) were statistically significant. 4. When the relationships between middle-aged women's self-reported climacteric symptoms and their general characteristics were explored, only the relationship with their marital satisfaction was statistically significant(r=-.228, p<.001). 5. Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis determined that the main influencing variables on middle-aged women's self-reported climacteric symptoms were their reported developmental changes and marital satisfaction. The findings of this study have implications for nursing intervention to help women adjust to middle adulthood developmental changes, and to prevent and relieve climacteric symptoms.restrictio
