To this end, this study considered the TV advertising effects on the consumer decision-making process in terms of awareness and preference, and then it examined the search query volume as the new consumer behavioral pattern. In this way, the study develops an integrated model to analyze various factors of the advertising effects. The proposed model analyze TV advertising sales effects along with changes in consumer behavioral patterns, specifically the consumer decision-making process, caused by exposure to TV advertising. Empirical analysis is conducted by three econometric methods. Two of them are the simultaneous equation model and path analysis. These methods address the endogeneity and causality relationship issues of various advertising measures. The other method is random utility model. This model deal with internet search query data as aggregate level of consumer demand. These models identify the major variables of the advertising effects in the consumer decision-making process. The estimation results proved that internet searches for product information influences purchase decisions, which marks a change in the consumer behavior pattern. Also, TV advertising and the search query volume are closely related. Examining each variables effectiveness has strategic implications to maximize the advertising effects in the consumer decision-making process. This study showed that changes in consumer behavioral patterns should be considered in measuring advertising effectiveness. This approach could be a step toward understanding Internet searches influence on consumers purchase decisions. Finally, this study could be used to formulate companies advertising strategies and government advertising regulations because consumers might base their purchasing decisions on Internet search results rather than TV advertisements.Abstract iv Contents vi List of Tables viii List of Figures x Chapter 1. [์˜๋ฌธ]Background : A colon adenoma is well known as a risk factor of colon cancer. Even though colonoscopy has commonly been performed in case that there are adenomas detected by the sigmoidscopy using evidence of simultaneity with being proximal colon adenomas, it hasn't still definitive criteria when colonoscopy should be operated. This study was conducted to find risk factors which affected the prevalence of proximal adenomas, and to help to set a guide to colon cancer screen -ingObject and Method : Among objects who had colon adenoma on sigmoidscopy at Samsung Seoul hospital health promotion center from January, 2005 to February, 2007, 810 people (men 590 and women 220) who underwent colonoscopy within one year were enrolled into the study. A distal region defined as a part that can be observed from sigmoidscopy, and the rest of whole colon referred to proximal one. In addition, according to the sex, general/behavioral characteristics, elem -ents related to obesity (waist circumference and body mass index), and distinction of distal colon adenomas (number, size, histopathology, grade of dysplasia) were analyzed as primary risk factors by using multiple logistic regressions for the existence of a proximal colon adenoma. Results : Prevalence of proximal colon adenoma were 198(33.6%) in men and 36(16.4%) in women. Age was found to be positively related to risk of proximal colon adenoma in men. Particularly, the odds ratio for participants with ageโ‰ฅ60 was significantly higher than those with age<50 (OR, 3.87; 95%CI, 2.18-6.85). However, there was no difference for women by age group. Number of distal colon adenoma was found to be positively related to risk of proximal colon adenoma as compared with 1 number(OR, 2.02; 95%CI, 1.27-3.21), but had nothing to do with the size in men. For women, it seemed that prevalence increased when they had more than two distal adenomas but not regarded. When body mass index was more than 25kg/m2, prevalence for women slightly increased but not significant associated. Furthermore, the odds ratio for participants having above moderate fatty liver was significantly higher than those having normal liver in men(OR, 1.82; 95%CI, 1.02-3.24). and its prevalence increased when drinking more than one bottle of soju per a time(OR, 1.98; 95%CI, 1.01-3.90). Smoking history and triglyceride were not associated with a proximal colon adenoma and there was no considerably related factor for women.Conculsions : Prevalence of proximal colon increased for men having more than two distal adenomas and fatty liver, rising drink, and getting older. But women had nothing to do with a primary risk factor of a proximal colon adenoma. This study shows that colonoscopy has to be operated for sixty and larger number of distal adenomas rather than the size, more drinking amount and a fatty liver in men Therefore, making a guide to colonoscopy by gender is desirable. And more studies for women is needed and it is expected that a guide to colonoscopy would be set up with cost effectiveness.ope

women in Korea within the context of late modern society. With Koreas entry into the knowledge and information society, the rapidly growing upper middle-class, based on expertise and experience, has been closely linked with the context of late modern society. The upper middle-class in Korea now features a high proportion of the highly educated and a widening income gap with other middle-class members. In addition, it is currently emerging as an important subject of consumption, and interest in the ways of conduct and values pursued by the upper middle-class is on the rise. In this regard, this study analyzed the relationship between fashion tastes and social, economic, and cultural contexts where the upper middle-class women are situated in Korean society, which is characterized by the intensified aspects of late modern society through the rapid process of modernization. Furthermore, it attempted to investigate a correlation between taste in fashion and Koreas cultural and historical particularity. As a research method, an in-depth interview was employed to analyze fashion tastes in particular. This study defined the upper middle-class as a group with higher scholastic achievements and incomes in professions that require expertise and experience, and selected 38 women in their 30s to 60s who are living in metropolitan areas as interviewees, based on the measurement standards of occupation, education level, and monthly income. For theoretical background, the concept of capital and habitus of Bourdieu was reviewed as a tool to analyze the relationship between tastes and classes, and the concept of reconfiguration of self-reflection and personal choice was examined in the context of late modern society characterized by weakened traditional criteria and routinized changes, according to the theory of Giddens. In addition, a theoretical framework was deduced to investigate the relationship between classes and fashion tastes of late modern society by introducing the perspective that views reflexivity as a kind of habitus, while coupling the two theories in a critical way. The results of this study are as follows. First, the fashion tastes of the upper middle-class women in Korea have been affected by privately-owned economic capital and cultural capital. It turned out that as the economic capital rises, apparel consumption tends to increase, especially in spending on luxury clothing, but fashion tastes cannot be explained only by the economic capital, since research results also showed that high economic capital and the amount of clothing expenditure cannot be connected to self-confidence and activeness in fashion tastes. From the results of the analysis on the relationship between cultural capital and fashion tastes, it was found that institutional education in all areas does not rule over fashion tastes, but institutional education in specific areas of art and design has a correlation with fashion tastes. In addition, it turned out that the cultural capital related to fashion tastes can be accumulated through other routes, such as residence abroad or overseas travel experience. Second, it was identified that the definition of sophisticated and luxurious fashion tastes does not mean configuration of a particular style or fashion image, only using expensive products in situations where fashion tastes are more diversified than ever before. Respondents with high cultural capital preferred creative and unique combination approaches, and regarded distinct characteristic traits very highly. Moreover, they tended to think highly of rational and efficient consumption and practice flexible spending on a variety of products through various purchase paths, which shows that the flexibility clarified in aesthetic aspects and consumption patterns becomes a marker of cultural capital. Third, the fashion tastes of the upper middle-class have been affected by various conditions of social norms, lifestyle, and cultural standards on the body in multiple ways, and this finding is supported by the result that composition of the appropriate attire in accordance with social norms with informal and implicit characteristics is significant, and the cultural stands on the body has a huge effect on the way upper middle-class women select clothes. However, we should not jump to the conclusion that these trends are characteristics found only in upper middle-class women, and it is necessary to conduct a more detailed analysis through comparative research with other classes. Fourth, the diversity of fashion products led to the expansion of the scope of personal choice. With distributed power and authority of fashion brands, the purchase paths for fashion products have been more diversified, and the boundaries of low and high-end products have weakened, but aspects in sympathy with fashion tastes were also found. In addition, it was confirmed that individual fashion tastes are not rapidly altered by changes in fashion, and they are interpreted and selectively accepted within the framework of personal taste. In late modern society, individuals turned out to reorganize fashion tastes through a combination of ongoing changes in fashion and concrete context of their lives. Fifth, it was found that there exist two sides to fashion tastes of the upper middle-class women in Korea, and the ambivalence of the upper middle-class women in fashion appears in the trends that status consumption, personal values, pursuit of rationality, and pursuit of pleasures coexist, and patterns of consumption in which the boundaries of low-cost and high-cost clothing weaken. Sixth, the historical and social contexts of Korea have had an effect on the fashion tastes of the upper middle-class women. Despite the rapid process of modernization, the collectively shared norms have restricted the fashion tastes of the upper middle-class women. The trend in status consumption mainly appeared in the fashion consumption of the upper middle-class, which is considered to be the result of reflecting Koreas consumer culture with characteristics of sympathy with others. The fashion tastes of the upper middle class women in Korea were also affected by the cultural contexts of Korean society, which was under the influence of Western culture. The upper middle class women in Korea have recognized the Western culture as important reference materials of fashion tastes, and the experience of the Western culture that has a strong sense of individualism have contributed to strengthening critical awareness against the sympathetic trends of fashion trends and had an effect on the attitudes of the upper middle class women who attach great importance to individuality and subjectivity in terms of fashion tastes. Seventh, the fashion tastes of the upper middle-class women in Korea showed various aspects of differentiation by multiple factors. Age and residential area contributed to segmentation of fashion tastes of the upper middle-class. Age caused differences in fashion tastes, while affecting physical, psychological conditions and the lifestyles of individuals, and the geographic differentiation of Gangnam and non-Gangnam residents who acquired the symbolic meaning of class differentiation through displaying aspects of distinction in fashion tastes. This study revealed that fashion tastes serve not only as a standard for judgment on aesthetic aspects, but also a comprehensive concept that includes evaluation of individual tastes. The fashion tastes of the upper middle-class women in Korea turned out to reflect the evaluation on the various aspects of efficient utilization of resources, identification of various social situations, and an ability to respond appropriately, which indicates that the importance of efficient selection and resource utilization came to be more highly recognized than that of knowledge and experience based on the fixed framework of reference in the characteristics of late modern society that is represented by expansion of diversity and variability. The possibility of personal choice increased in which a typical and dominant rule does not exist in the way of organizing and expressing fashion tastes. With more complex and diversified lifestyles and social roles of individuals, the strengthening of individuals reflective attitudes has created differences in fashion tastes. The ways of persons expressing their individuality became more varied than before, even within the constraints of social and cultural conditions in late modern society, but it was identified that it is difficult to apply the concept of reflection, as introduced by Giddens, that sees the increase in freedom and range of personal choice as individual autonomy and strategic projects of life. It turned out that, in the background of fashion tastes in personalized and fragmented aspects, economic and cultural capital are organically connected, because the fashion tastes of individuals cannot be free from the specific conditions of life in which each individual is located, or in cultural and social contexts. Accordingly, it can be safely concluded that the fashion tastes in modern society cannot be determined unilaterally by the external context, or concluded as an issue of free choice of individuals. This study was carried out by only targeting the upper middle-class women, so it poses its limitation that a more specific and detailed analysis on the wider variety of contexts involved in the relationship between fashion tastes and classes cannot be implemented. Accordingly, it is required to conduct further research on groups different from the upper middle-class in economic and cultural capital to facilitate multifaceted and in-depth understanding of fashion tastes of late modern society.
