One of the methods of revitalizing a regional economy is to promote the development of tourism business. The ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport\u27s Visit Japan Campaign (VJC) kicked off in April 2003. VJC is a strategic program designed to encourage a sharp increase in the number of visitors to Japan from overseas. In comparison to the 16 million Japanese travelling overseas annually, only 5 million foreign tourists visit Japan. The "Inbound Tourism Initiative of Japan" aims to lessen the gap as quickly as possible. The "Strategic Meeting of the Inbound Tourisn Initiative of Japan" was held in February. 1994, and the "Shikoku Members Board"(a 100-menber board), was held on February. 19,2000 in Takamatsu City. The author discusses the meanings of the "Inbound Tourism Initiative of Shikoku and Tokushima", and suggests how to promote the revival of the Shikoku district\u27s economies and industries through a rapid increase in the number of visitors to Shikoku

CSR(企業の社会的責任)とSRI(社会的責任投資)(一般)

With the evolution of civil society, corporate social responsibility (CSR) has recieved greater attention and has become an important criterion for selecting products and services, as well as evaluating corporations. In order to improve management quality-and not only to give consumer satisfaction, but to inspire customers-one indispensable basic factor is to integrate into the process of business activities a high sense of ethics and fairness, as well as concern for human rights, the environment and society. In today\u27s global society, all people believe it is increasingly important for corporations to take responsibility for their own actions and properly communicate their endeavors to a multitude of stakeholders. The rise of SRI is closely linked with the growth of key social and environmental movements over recent decades no comma which have shaped changes in society\u27s values and concerns. Socially responsible investing is an investment process that considers the social and environmental consequences of investment, both positive and negative, within a rigorous financial analysis. It is a process of identifying and investing in companies that meet certain standards of CSR and is increasingly practiced internaionally. More and more fund managers have become interested in SRI. This is partly because of client demand, but also due to the shift in approarch from negative screening to a combination of both engagement and screening. The author discusses how Japanese corporations should contribute to the sound development of society by supplying quality products and services. In doing so, they must reinforce the importance of business ethics

Dell Corporation has transformed itself into the largest computer systems company in the world by leveraging its business knowledge and effectively using the Internet as an enabling technology. Business models in electronic commerce are clasified as follows: (1) the informediary model (2) the community model (3) the customer agent model (4) the market auction model (5) the seller agent model, and (6) the direct sales model. Unlike other computer companies, Dell has a direct sales model. The Dell Direct Model is simple, yet competitors have not been able to successfully copy it. 地域・中小企業のITによる経営革新の支援 : 徳島を中心に(地域)

While the business conditions DI (Diffusion Index) for large enterprises in Japan have steadily improved, business trends among small and medium enterprises remain depressed. Viewed from a long-term perspective, however, the importance of SMEs as a proportion of the Japanese economy and industry as a whole is increasing, and this trend is being led by business inovation using IT. This inovation will be realized and accelerated by obtaining support for IT-based inovative systematization improvement from prefectural and public service sector suppot centers for SMEs. These supports include the implementation of seminars, training programs, the dispatch of IT experts, the reiforcement of IT infrastructure, and SOHO teleworking. We examine the current situation regarding IT in the Tokushima region and explore many important problems awaiting solution. Finally, we present some suggestions for realistic and practicable solutions, for example, the introduction of outsourcing and the adoption of software packages

小泉内閣の実験 : 行政学ノート

Over the last two and a half years since its inauguration, the Koizumi Cabinet has launched various experiments, which are of great interest from the viewpoint of public administration studies, bringing up a number of new issues for debate. For example : 1) With regard to the relationship between the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, Mr. Koizumi handpicked his cabinet members without seeking advice from party heavyweights or others ; 2) With regard to the relationship between the Cabinet and the ruling party, he submitted important bills to the Diet even when the ruling party were opposing the bills ; 3) With regard to the relationship between the Cabinet and the bureaucracy, the Cabinet directly appointed top-ranking officials at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Finance although such appointments are traditionally made by the competent Minister ; and 4) With regard to the relationship between the Prime Minister and each competent Minister, Mr. Koizumi himself, not the Health Minister, announced the government\u27s decision not to appeal against the District Court\u27s judgment on the so-called Hansen\u27s Disease Case. I would like to forecast whether these experiments, which are deeply linked with the essential elements of the parliamentary and bureaucracy systems, will eventually start to regress or continue to evolve dialectically

ブラジルの治安情勢と社会背景

The author lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with his family from April 2002 to March 2003. According to information issued by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in local newspaper reports, Sao Paulo is said to be a very dangerous city. These statements are also supported by statistical data. However, by paying enough attention to personal security, life in the city is not such a nerve-racking experience. Brazil has a series of socio-economic reasons for its high crime rate, and its security situation can be seen to be getting even worse. The Morals and ethics of the local people are important values that can help prevent people from committing a crime. In recent years, Japan also has been suffering from a rapid loss of public peace, and its crime rate has reached higher levels than ever. From a Brazilian point of view, Japanese people seem to have little experience regarding this issue. Now, Japan should learn from Brazil in order to control the increasing crime rate and recover its public peace

We will experience a real ubiquitous networking in 2005. The ubiquitous network will provide us with a convenient service for education. We should develop an original system and introduce it as soon as possible, because the system has an important role in university management. We started to develop the original ubiquitous campus system in 2004. The proposed system consists of three sub-systems based on the T-Engine technique: 1)a database management system named T 3 that works on the T-Kernel. 2)a human interface system built by microscript on the BTRON operating system, and 3 )an optical ID system using printing devices intended to decrease production costs

リングオシレータを用いたカオス回路の結合系

Chaotic circuits have an extensive possibility for engineering applications which have been investigated by many researchers passionately for the past 20 years. In order to realize these applications, chaotic circuit integration is a necessary. In this paper, a chaotic circuit using two ring oscillators and its coupling system are proposed A chaotic circuit using two ring oscillators is suitable for intergated circuits. Therefore, a coupling system is considered for this application. Chaotic phenomena generated by the proposed circuit are investigated. The exact solutions are derived, the Lyapunov exponents are calculated and the bifuractions scenario is explained. Additionally, the coupling system is investigated. Several interesting phenomena are observed

学官連携による「阿波ナビ」魅力向上プロジェクト

The Project for Boosting the Appeal of Awa Navi was commenced as part of an academiagovernment project by Tokushima Prefecture, private enterprises and Shikoku University. This project involved the renewal of Awa Navi, a website managed by the Tourism Planning Division of Tokushima Prefecture and the Tokushima Tourist Association, which provides tourist information. The sole objective was not "industry", but it provided technical support to the academia-led academiagovernment collaboration, which was worked on with students through coursework. It was valuable as the "best practice" on how to proceed with new academiagovernment collaborations. The work-flow used for producing websites was applied to execute the project and it was used by people from the different disciplines of academia and government as the compass to advance the project smoothly towards the single goal of producing a website. The work-flow of website production was also reflected in the coursework and the students got involved in direction and design. In the year leading up to the launch of Awa Navi, they practiced everything from website production to development, including planning and design, much like an OJT(Onthe-Job Training)
