    Coronary heart disease is one of the biggest causes of death. Coronary heart disease is caused by the buildup of cholesterol in blood vessels. Aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) has many benefit on which one of them can lower blood cholesterol levels. The purpose of this study is to study the effective dose of aloe vera extracts (Aloe vera L.) which decreases rat (Rattus norvegicus) blood cholesterol level. The method used in this research was an experimental research with pre and post test method and control group design. Aloe vera extracts (Aloe vera L.) used was obtained through maceration method. Aloe vera extracts (Aloe vera L.) was extracted using ethanol 70%. Doses of aloe vera extract used were 0,3 gr/200 grBW, 0,6 gr/200 grBW, 1,2 gr/200 grBW. The positive control used in this study was cholestyramine. The rats were divided into 5 treatment groups, namely the positive control group given cholestyramine, the aquadest negative group, the first treatment group with the first dose, the second treatment group with the second dose, and the third treatment group with the third dose. Based on the result normality and homogenity test results indicate that the data distribution is normal and homogeneous. Statistical test results using one way ANOVA obtained p <0,05, means there are significant differences between each group. LSD test results showed significant differences between groups with different test times. It can be concluded that Aloe vera L. extracts could decrease total blood cholesterol level in white hypercholesterolemic male rat (Rattus norvegicus)

    ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF WATERMELON EXTRACT (Citrullus lanatus) ON THE DECREASE OF URIC ACID LEVEL IN WHITE MALE RATS WISTAR (Rattus novergicus) Riri Eltadeza, Devi Usdiana Rosyidah Faculty Of Medicine, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta Backround : Citrullus lanatus is rich content of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, glycosides, tannins, and phenolic compounds. Flavonoid has an effect on decreasing uric acid levels by inhibiting the action of xanthine oxidase enzymes that can reduce uric acid levels of white rats. Objective: To determine the effect of watermelon extract on the decrease of uric acid level in white male rats wistar. Method: This research is a laboratory experimental research with pretest-post test method with control group design. It used 25 male white rats of wistar strain 2-3 months old with 150-250 gram weight with potassium oxonate induced and divided into 5 groups: negative control group (aquades), positive control (allopurinol 2,52 mg / 200gBB), treatment of extract 500 mg 200gBB, 1000 mg/200gBB, and 1500 mg/200gBB. Result: One Way Anova test 2 hours after treatment was obtained p = 0,049 and 4 hours after treatment was obtained p = 0.003 (p <0.05) this means that there was significant difference of uric acid level in each group after treatment. In the LSD test 2 hours after treatment the results were found to different significantly in groups K (-) - K (+) and K (+) - D1. LSD 4 hours after treatment showed different significantly results in groups K (-) - K (+), K (-) - D2, K (-) - D3, and K (+) – D1. Conclution : Watermelon Extract has an effect on decreasing uric acid levels in white male rats wistar. The most optimal effect of uric acid reduction is watermelon extract dose III 1500 mg/200gBB.     The prevalence of diabetes has increased worldwide. Diabetic mellitus patients with high blood glucose levels that are more susceptible to various infections, including urinary tract infections compared with patients who did not suffer from diabetes mellitus. To determine the association between fasting blood glucose levels and levels HbA1c with urinary tract infections in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus. This study used a case-control study design and carried out at Hospital Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. The number of samples in this study were 48 samples taken with the technique purposive sampling. Data collection was performed by reading the medical records of patients with diabetes mellitus in June to the month of December 2018. The data were analyzed using chi-square test. Results of the chi square test showed no significant correlation between levels of fasting blood glucose with the occurrence of urinary tract infection (p = 0.383). and the value of OR 1.667. There is a significant correlation between the levels HbA1c with the occurrence of urinary tract infection (p = 0.035). and the value of OR 3.800

    Staphylococcus epidermidis is a group of negative coagulase staphylococcus which is a normal flora and can cause infection, often associated with implantable devices such as joint prosthetics, intravascular catheters. Inappropriate or irrational use of antibiotics for unnecessary diseases and the tendency for antibiotics to be bought free or without a prescription result in the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Kencur (Kaempferia galanga L) is one of the herbal plants, active substances such as alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids and saponins contained in kencur rhizome extract has antibacterial activity. To determine the antibacterial activity of 70% ethanol extract of kencur rhizome (Kaempferia galanga L.) to Staphylococcus epidermidis. This research is an experimental laboratory research that is giving treatment of 70% ethanol extract of kencur rhizome (Kaempferia galanga L.) to Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria by post test only controlled group design method. The kencur rhizome extract was divided into several concentrations, namely 20%, 40%, 60% and 80, On the muller hilton media that had been smeared with bacteria made a 6 mm diameter well. Wells are drippedthe rhizome extract in various concentrations. Furthermore, the media was incubated for 24 hours with a temperature of 370 C then the diameter of the inhibition zone was measured by the calipers. The results of the inhibitory diameter zone outside the well of the kencur rhizome extract were concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%, namely 3.92 mm, 4.07 mm, 4.87 mm and 5.9 mm respectively. Damage to liver cells was measured by counting the number of damaged cells that focuses on necrosis.     Latar Belakang : Ibu adalah lingkungan terdekat dan pertama sekaligus pengasuh bagi perkembangan anak. Kualitas anak masa kini merupakan penentu Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) dimasa yang akan datang. Pembangunan manusia masa depan dimulai dari pembangunan anak masa sekarang. Untuk mempersiapkan SDM yang berkualitas dimasa yang akan datang maka perlu dipersiapkan agar anak bisa tumbuh dan berkembang sesuai dengan kemampuannya. Tujuan Penelitian : Untuk mengetahui hubungan kualitas hidup ibu dan perkembangan motorik halus balita Metode Penelitian : Merupakan penelitian survei analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Diambil sampel 43 orang ibu dan 43 balita, dengan teknik purposive sampling. Menggunakan uji statistik Chi-Square. Hasil :Pada 22 (51,3%) ibu berkualitas hidup baik mempunyai 2 balita (4,8%) dengan perkembangan motorik halus kurang, 11 balita (25,6%) normal, dan 9 balita (20,9%) lebih. Pada 21 ibu (48,7%) berkualitas hidup buruk terdapat 9 balita (20,9%) mempunyai perkembangan motorik halus kurang, 7 balita (16,2%) normal, dan 5 balita (11,6%) lebih. Dari hasil uji Chi-Square didapatkan X² = 6,467 dan probabilitas signifikansi (ρ) = 0,039. Kesimpulan : Terdapat hubungan antara kualitas hidup ibu dengan perkembangan motorik halus balita di posyandu wilayah kecamatan Bekonang Mojolaban Sukoharjo

    Cervical cancer is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. Risk factors for cervical cancer include the use of hormonal contraception and the age of early marriage. There are differences in the results of research on risk factors for the incidence of cervical cancer. This study aims to determine the relationship between contraceptive use and age of first marriage to the incidence of cervical cancer in DR Moewardi General Hospital Surakarta This study uses analytic observational research with Case Control research design. This research was conducted at the Dr. Moewardi General Hospital Surakarta in December 2018. The number of research samples is 68 medical records with Purposive Sampling techniques. Statistical analysis using Chi Square test. The results of univariate analysis found that the number of contraceptive use 3 years as many as 43 samples. The results of univariate analysis of age of first marriage < 20 years were 19 and 49 samples has age of first marriage 20 years. The results of bivariate analysis have a relationship between contraceptive use and cervical cancer incidence (p = 0.012) and there is no relationship between age of first marriage and cervical cancer (p = 1,000). Based on the research that has been done can be concluded that there is a relationship of the use of contraceptives with the incidence of cervical cancer but there is no relationship between the age of first marriage with the incidence of cervical cancer

    Background: Banana or Musa paradisiaca (commonly called pisang kepok in Indonesian) is one of the most cultivated fruit. Till date, the stem and the leaves of banana fruit have been proven to have analgesic effect. However, there is no study for analgesic effect of banana peel. Flavonoid which contained in banana peel is thought to be responsible for the analgesic effect of the fruit. Objective: To study the analgesic effect of methanolic extract of banana (Musa paradisiaca) peel. Method: The method used in this research was post test only with controlled group design. The laboratory animals used were 30 Swiss strain male albino mice (Mus musculus) which divided into 5 treatment groups; group I as negative control group given aquadest, group II as positive control group given Ibuprofen with dose 450 mg/kgBW, group III as the treatment group I given EMKP dose 500 mg/kgBW, group IV as treatment group II given EMKP dose 1000 mg/kgBW, group V as treatment group III given EMKP dose 1,500 mg/kgBW. Results: Based on the result of Kruskal-Wallis statistic test, p = 0,000, which means p < 0,05 significant. Mann-Whitney test results obtained between negative control group and treatment group 1, 2 and 3; p = 0,000; p = 0,000; p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which mean the results are significantly different. Conclusion: Methanolic extract of banana (Musa paradisiaca) peel has an analgesic effect on Swiss strain male albino mice (Mus musculus)

    Latar Belakang: Diare masih menjadi suatu problematika bagi kesehatan masyarakat terutama di Indonesia. Kejadian diare terbanyak menyerang kelompok usia 6-24 bulan. Hal ini terjadi karena bayi mulai mendapatkan makanan tambahan di luar ASI, dimana resiko ikut sertanya kuman pada makanan tambahan tinggi. Air Susu Ibu (ASI) merupakan air susu yang mengandung antibodi dan antibiotik sehingga anak yang diberikan ASI memiliki daya tahan tubuh yang lebih stabil dibandingkan dengan anak yang diberi susu formula. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kejadian diare bayi yang diberi ASI Eksklusif dibandingkan dengan yang diberi tidak ASI eksklusif pada rentang usia 6-9 bulan. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Grogol Kabupaten Sukoharjo. Hasil: Distribusi dari 64 responden didapatkan 34 bayi ASI Eksklusif dan 30 bayi tidak ASI Eksklusif. Hasil uji analisis statistik diperoleh nilai P = 0,003 (p < 0,05) dan OR = 0,205 yang artinya terdapat perbedaan kejadian diare pada bayi usia 6-9 bulan yang diberi ASI Eksklusif dengan yang diberi tidak ASI eksklusif. Kesimpulan: Terdapat perbedaan kejadian diare yang bermakna pada bayi dengan rentang usia 6-9 bulan yang diberi ASI Eksklusif dengan yang diberi tidak ASI eksklusif

    Latar Belakang : Asam Jawa ( Tamarindus indica L) merupakan tanaman tradisional yang berpotensi sebagaipenurun kadar kolesterol total dan trigliserida, khasiat tersebut di sebabkan oleh kandungan flavonoid, pholiphenol dan pectin yang terdapat di dalamnya. Mekanisme kerja pectin adalah mengikat asam empedu dan kolesterol sehingga menghambat pembentukan misel dan menurunkan arbsorbsi kolesterol di usus. Tujuan Penelitian : Mengetahui efek ekstrak etanol 70% daging buah asam jawa (Tamarindus indica L) terhadap kadar kolesterol total dan trigliserida tikus yang diinduksi Triton X-100 dan mengetahui kandungan ekstrak dari uji KLT Metode Penelitian : Eksperimental laboratorik, rancangan penelitian pretest – posttest with control group design. Hewan uji dibagi dalam 5 kelompok perlakuan masing-masing kelompok 5 ekor tikus. Kelompok I : kontrol positif (Simvastatin 0,72mg/200gBB), kelompok II : kontrol negatif (CmcNa), kelompok III, IV, V : ekstrak etanol 70% daging buah asam jawa dengan dosis berturut-turut 50mg/200gBB, 40mg/200gBB, dan 20mg/200gBB. Kandungan senyawa ekstrak diuji dengan profil KLT mengunakan plat silica gel. Hasil Penelitian : Berdasarkan hasil uji ANOVA data penurunan kolesterol total dan trigliserida pada hari ke 7 pemberian ekstrak nilai probabilitas signifikan (p) : 0,000 dengan demikian p<0,05 maka efek pada 5 kelompok perlakuan terdapat perbedaan penurunan kadar glukosa darah secara bermakna. Kemudian untuk mengetahui perbandingan setiap kelompok dilanjutkan uji LSD, pada uji penurunan kolesterol total dan trigliserida pada hari ke 7 diperoleh hasil antara kelompok kontrol negatif (II) dengan semua kelompok (I,III,IV,V) pada uji penurunan kadar trigliserida nilai signifikansi adalah 0,000.(p<0,05). Hasil uji, dan hasil uji penurunan kolesterol total di dapatkan nilai antara kelompok kontrol negatif (II) : kelompok (I)= 0,000, (II):(III)=0,000, (II):(IV)=0,002, (II):(V)=0,001, dengan demikian p< 0,05. KLT diperoleh kandungan ekstrak etanol 70% daging buah asam jawa yaitu flavonoid, terpenoid, alkaloid, dan fenolik. Kesimpulan : Pemberian ekstrak etanol 70% daging buah asam jawa (Tamarindus indica L) dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol total dan trigliserida pada tikus yang diinduksi Triton X-100. Hasil uji KLT terdapat senyawa berupa flavonoid, alkaloid dan fenolik yang di percaya berperan penting pada penurunan tersebut
