Finasteride Side Effects and Post-Finasteride Syndrome in Male Androgenic Alopecia

    Get PDF
Finasteride is in present a relatively frequent prescribed drug for male androgenic alopecia. The adverse effects reported by some patients seem to be notable, consisting of various (physical, mental/ neurological, sexual, etc.) manifestations which are encountered both during Finasteride administration and after treatment cessation (in the form of `post-Finasteride syndrome`). The pharmacological action and the corresponding adverse effects related to Finasteride administration were investigated and published in literature through several and successive studies. In respect to psychiatric disorders, the most notable concern is related to depressive symptoms and suicidal thoughts among former users of finasteride with persistent adverse effects. Regarding genito-urinary symptoms, these are usually represented by gynecomastia, decreased interest in sexual intercourse/ low level of sexual desire and erectile dysfunction. Finally, we viewed Finasteride side effects and post-Finasteride syndrome as distinct physio-pathologic entities, thus requiring possible distinct therapeutic approaches. Additional studies will be necessary, in order to further investigate the cerebral neuromodulation of the two relational (cognitive and sexual) functions, both of which may be interfered by administration of hormones or by the corresponding compounds such as Finasteride

    Bargaining in Stationary Networks

    Get PDF
We study an infinite horizon game in which pairs of players connected in a network are randomly matched to bargain. Players who reach agreement are replaced by new players at the same positions in the network. We show that all equilibria are payoff equivalent. The payoffs and the set of agreement links converge as players become patient. Several new concepts—mutually estranged sets, partners, and shortage ratios—provide insights into the relative strengths of the positions in the network. We develop a procedure to determine the limit equilibrium payoffs for all players. Characterizations of equitable and nondiscriminatory networks are also obtained. (JEL C78, D85)

THE FAIR VALUE – REPRESENTATION OF THE MARKET VALUE IN ACCOUNTING. TRENDS AND PERSPECTIVES IN ROMANIAN ACCOUNTING PRACTICE

    Get PDF
The market value, as a method of measuring the right value, also provides the highest objectivity due to the fact that it is based on information exterior to the entity, impossible to influence in any way. For the fair value of a product to be equivalent to the market value, a prerequisite needs to be followed: the market must be perfect, namely organized and active. In this case, the evaluation’s type is market to market. In certain fields, the active’s market existence is clearly difficult (for instance for the derived products or specialized, unique assets etc). In such situations – imperfect market – we will valorize that specific good by calculating its fair value by using an evaluation technique, an alternative technique in the absence of a price set by the market. There are two possible approaches: the first one belongs to the analogy method; the second approach belongs to valuing an asset using the modeling technique also known as market to model. The method of determining the value of an asset by analogy or similarity is theoretically valid, but in practice this is difficult, since the notion of similar characteristics is often difficult to establish and prove. This article proposes a valuation of the market value concept based on Romanian realities - legal, accounting practices in that area, and taking into account the existing fiscal limitations.market value, fair value, comparison approach, the analogy method, identical or similar assets sales, the modeling technique Romania

Further Properties and Applications of Koszul Pairs

Koszul pairs were introduced in [arXiv:1011.4243] as an instrument for the study of Koszul rings. In this paper, we continue the enquiry of such pairs, focusing on the description of the second component, as a follow-up of the study in [arXiv:1605.05458]. As such, we introduce Koszul corings and prove several equivalent characterizations for them. As applications, in the case of locally finite RR-rings, we show that a graded RR-ring is Koszul if and only if its left (or right) graded dual coring is Koszul. Finally, for finite graded posets, we obtain that the respective incidence ring is Koszul if and only if the incidence coring is so.Comment: part of the first versio

Exchange Rate Pass-Through into Romanian Price Indices: A VAR Approach

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the exchange rate pass-through (ERPT) into import prices, producer prices and several different measures of consumer prices indices for Romanian economy. In order to determine the size, describe the dynamics and identify the asymmetries in ERPT the paper employs an array of econometric methods belonging to the VAR family. The methods range from RVARS (on different price indices and/or on a rolling window), Sign-restriction VARs (also using different consumer inflation measures), MS-VAR, TAR and SETAR, the last three methods being naturally equipped to capture various types of asymmetries. The results point to an almost complete passthrough into import prices and incomplete pass-through into producer and consumer prices. In all cases except import prices the ERPT displays a decline in magnitude over the analysed time interval. The paper also finds important asymmetries with respect to sign and size of the exchange rate, size of inflation and time period.exchange rate, pass-through, import prices, producer prices, consumer prices, vector autoregression, sign-restriction

Guide to Good Practice in using Open Source Compilers with the AGCC Lexical Analyzer

Quality software always demands a compromise between users' needs and hardware resources. To be faster means expensive devices like powerful processors and virtually unlimited amounts of RAM memory. Or you just need reengineering of the code in terms of adapting that piece of software to the client's hardware architecture. This is the purpose of optimizing code in order to get the utmost software performance from a program in certain given conditions. There are tools for designing and writing the code but the ultimate tool for optimizing remains the modest compiler, this often neglected software jewel the result of hundreds working hours by the best specialists in the world. Even though, only two compilers fulfill the needs of professional developers, a proprietary solution from a giant in the IT industry, and the Open source GNU compiler, for which we develop the AGCC lexical analyzer that helps producing even more efficient software applications. It relies on the most popular hacks and tricks used by professionals and discovered by the author who are proud to present them further below.registers, dynamic linkage, cache, null pointers, tweaking
