    Credit Card Payment Processing in Electronic Commerce: An Analysis of the Bucket Pricing Strategy

    Credit cards have been the dominant payment method for the electronic commerce retail industry. However, online retailers, especially the small to medium ones, continue to be disadvantaged by the seemingly arbitrary bucket pricing strategy implemented by the credit card processing companies. We address the following research question: “Can the credit card processors continue to economically justify the use of bucket pricing structure, especially considering the increased competition within the industry and from competing payment alternatives?” We use an economic model as a basis of our analyses and discussions.Credit card payments; credit card processing; bucket pricing; tiered pricing; electronic commerce; online retailers.

    Menempatkan seorang anak pada lingkungan yang bisa dibilang keras, dan bukan tempat yang semestinya bagi proses tumbuh kembang anak akan berdampak buruk bagi kehidupan anak. Dan bukan tidak mungkin dengan keadaan seperti ini nantinya akan merusak masa depan anak. Persoalan besar dalam pemidanaan terhadap anak adalah efek tidak baik terhadap perkembangan anak. Pemidanaan kerap mendatangkan cap buruk pada seseorang, yang dalam konteks ini adalah anak, belum lagi ketika berada didalam penjara, anak kerap mendapat perilaku buruk ataupun dampak buruk, seperti kekerasan baik fisik maupun psikis, prisonisasi, deprivasi, dan terakhir mendapatkan stigma atau labeling dari masyarakat, dan hal ini akan sangat destruktif terhadap kehidupannya yang masih panjang. Bukankah akan menjadi sangat keliru apabila dalam penangannya hanya berpatok pada mekanisme hukum legal-formal, tanpa melibatkan mekanisame sosial yang terkait erat di dalamnya. Penelitian didesain menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat dampak buruk dan kerugian terhadap pemenjaraan / pemenjaraan anak, terutama bagi anak yang bersalah. Oleh karena itu, disarankan untuk memberikan jenis kejahatan yang tidak menghukum dan mencabut hak kebebasan anak daripada menghukum hukuman terhadap anak, seperti pengawasan , Coaching, trial, denda, kompensasi, pekerjaan sosial serta permintaan maaf dan peringatan

    Virtual Organizational Learnign in Open Source Software Development Projects

    We studied the existence of virtual organizational learning in open source software (OSS) development projects. Specifically, our research focused on learning effects of OSS projects and factors that affect the learning process. The number and percentage of resolved bugs and bug resolution time of 118 SourceForge.net OSS projects were used to measure the learning effects> Projects were characterized by project type, number and experience of developers, number of bugs, and bug resolution time.     Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran multiliterasi yang dilakukan dalam proses perkuliahan Mata Kuliah Keterampilan Menulis semester genap tahun akademik 2019/2010. Model pembelajaran multiliterasi merupakan salah satu model pembelajaran yang relevan dan aktual dengan konsep pendidikan abad XXI. Melalui penelitian ini diharapkan akan terjadi perbaikan dan peningkatan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa, baik secara akademik maupun nonakademik demi menunjang tercapainya mutu kelulusan calon pendidik dalam bidang bahasa dan sasrra Indonesia yang berkualitas. Pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu penugasan menulis artikel ilmiah populer, lembar observasi, angket, pedoman wawancara dosen dan mahasiswa, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh, dianalisis, dan direfleksi dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Simpulan dari hasil  penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Multiliterasi pada materi menulis artikel ilmiah dapat meningkatan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan selama 2 siklus.  Dengan demikian, penembelajaran model Multiliterasi dapat direkomendasikan dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa produktif  mahasiswa.  &nbsp

    The Economic Ramifications of Strategic IT Security Information Sharing in the Financial Services Industry

    We investigate the economic ramifications of strategic IT security information sharing among firms in the financial services industry. An IT security information sharing system can potentially minimize security breaches. However, although the Presidential Decision Directive/NSC-63 encouraged the establishment of such a system in the form of industry based information sharing and analysis centers (ISACs), it is injudicious to assume that firms will be willing to naively share their security information with their strategic competitors. We argue that without a proper mechanism some firms will try to put in minimum effort, potentially reducing the system’s reliability, and aim to answer the following research question: “What will it take for a financial services firm to willingly share its strategic information technology security information with its competitors through an ISAC?” We use the theory of mechanism design in economics to develop an adverse selection model to address the question

    An Empirical Analysis of User Participation on Crowdsourcing Platform: A Two-sided Network Market Perspective

    Crowdsourcing has recently emerged as a new platform for matching the demand and supply between professionals and businesses who seek external expertise for business task execution. Driven by the unique features of the two-sided crowdsourcing markets (such as auction-style competition on quality by professionals), this study seeks to examine how the dynamics of the two-sided crowdsourcing platform affect customers and professionals’ strategic behaviors and market outcomes. Using longitudinal transaction data from a crowdsourcing websites, we plan to empirically examine how the participation of professionals and customers, task reward and task completion rate are affected by the characteristics of the professionals such as distribution of the winning professionals and their reputation. The results of our study are expected to contribute to the growing literature on crowdsourcing and provide important insights on the design and assessment of the sustainability and profitability of the crowdsourcing business model

    Digital and Non-Digital Distractions for IT Professionals’ Remote Work

    The pandemic has forced many firms to adopt remote work practices. However, recent surveys show that remote work productivity is mixed. Primary negative factors against productivity are digital and non-digital distractions at home. Considering that IT professionals heavily rely on digital devices, how is their remote work productivity affected by digital and non-digital distractions? The survey data from 60 IT professionals shows that IT professionals’ productivity is not significantly affected by digital distractions compared to those in their office work. On the other hand, non-digital distractions at home lower their productivity. However, their work/life goal commitment counters distractions at home. Implications and future research agendas are discussed

    Assessing Researcher Publication Productivity in the Leading Information Systems Journals: A 2003-2007 Update

    This study examines the leading IS researchers and the universities that supply them. We reviewed publications from nine leading IS journals during calendar years 2003 to 2007. During that time, 3,404 researchers contributed toward 2,155 published articles. Our analysis shows that most of the leading researchers were affiliated with institutions in North America. Our study also includes an analysis of the publication productivity of both IS faculty and doctoral students. This research contributes to the scientometric literature by providing a means for assessing IS publication productivity

    The Effect of Discovery Learning Model on Students’ Ability in Determining Character Education Values in Folklore at The Tenth-Grade Students of SMA Negeri 3 Ambon, Indonesia

    This research is aimed at finding out the effect of the discovery learning model on students’ ability in determining character education values in folklore at the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Ambon. This belongs to experimental research. This research data is the students’ test results in determining character education values in folklore. The number of the sample is 38 students (the experimental class) and 35 students (the control class). SPSS version 23 is used to analyze the data. The result shows that there is an effect of the discovery learning model on students’ ability in determining character education values in folklore at the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Ambon. It is proved through the result of the independent sample t-test which is t-count > t-table (4.353 > 1.994).
