The increasing importance of information has begun the process of interrelated changes of the whole society in today’s world. The rapid development of information and communication technologies occurs also in the problematic of crisis management. Since we live in a dynamic world, it is important to be ready to the changes that life brings, responding and adopting new technologies. One of them is crisis management information system. Information system is a tool for information support. Information systems in general are very important and indispensable part of planning, organizing, managing and controlling. This definitely applies to crisis management information system. They are therefore used in the planning of emergency measures as well as in crisis situations. Crisis management is an activity, which can help us to save life, health and property in the whole world

Many emergencies and crises threaten the whole world. These affect not only the lives, health, and property of citizens but also the subjects and elements of the critical infrastructure itself. Breaking the critical infrastructure system would have a severe impact on the state’s security, securing the basic living needs of the population, the health of the people, or the economy of the country. One of the significant sectors of the critical infrastructure is undoubtedly healthcare. It is vital for the health service to be able to perform its function, even in times of crisis. The crisis of naturogenic character ordinarily has the so-called cascade effect, which causes other extraordinary events and crises. An example of this may be windstorm, resulting in a power outage. A significant impact of the power supply outage in healthcare is observed in hospitals. There is currently no assessment tool to set the hospital’s readiness for a power outage. The aim of the chapter is to analyze the current state of the crisis preparedness of the hospital

Road Transport and Its Impact on Air Pollution during the COVID-19 Pandemic

This paper discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on air pollution. Many urban inhabitants were confined to their homes during the lockdown. This had an impact air pollution, due to a reduction the number of vehicles being operated in cities. People also limited the number of visits to shopping centers; additionally, sports venues were closed and cultural events cancelled. The COVID-19 pandemic therefore had a positive impact on air pollution. Several studies from around the world confirm this. The research presented here is based on hourly measurements of PM10 and NO2 concentrations measured in background ambient air at a specific intersection located in Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic. The aim of the paper is to confirm or exclude the hypothesis that the measured concentrations of PM10 and NO2 pollutants were lower during 2020 than in 2019, when states of emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic were declared. The data were aggregated into monthly subsets and statistically analyzed. The data was graphically visualized and evaluated by means of exploratory data analysis. To compare the pollution levels in individual months, a parametric statistical analysis (two-sample t-test) was used. A statistically significant reduction was observed in the measured concentrations in 2020 compared to 2019 during periods when states of emergency were declared

The impact of naturogenic threats to the critical infrastructure

This paper is focused on naturogenic threats with the impact on the critical infrastructure. The aim of the paper is to describe the critical infrastructure and analyze the impact of naturogenic threats to them. There is the increasing number of disasters which has an impact on the power outage. These situations can endanger the lives and health of citizens. One of the elements of critical infrastructure is healthcare. There must be provided for the power supply. The first part of the paper deals with the concept of naturogenic threats and critical infrastructure. This part is focused on the cascading effect of the emergencies with the impact of the power outage. Secondly, the paper analyses the elements of the critical infrastructure – healthcare. There are analyzed disasters to the power outage based on the survey. The results are presented based on Pareto analysis. The final part summarizes naturogenic threats with the impact of the critical infrastructure and suggests a solution for the assessment of the hospitals

This paper focuses on crisis management information systems in the selected states. The aim of this article is to analyse the selected information systems and prepare a comparison of them. The first part of the article deals with the concept of crisis management information systems in different countries. Secondly, the paper deals with the idea of crisis management information systems in different countries. Thirdly, the article deals with information systems of crisis management in the Czech Republic. These systems are further solved using a suitably chosen method. Fourthly, the paper deals with information systems in three selected countries abroad. These states were intentionally selected according to their type and according to the diversity of territories and threatening events in these states. Next part describes the suitably chosen methods of work. Heuristic usability analyses are among the most significant. This analysis is focused on detecting the strengths and weaknesses of tested systems. The following chapter aims to introduce the results of the tested crisis management information systems. The last section summarizes the entire paper and suggests solutions for these systems

Assessment of emergency supply of healthcare facilities as a module of the crisis management information system

    No full text
This paper focuses on assessing the crisis preparedness of healthcare facilities as a new module of crisis management information systems. The crisis is widespread around the world, and it is essential that the medical facility is ready. The first part of the thesis deals with the introduction to the given issue and the crisis preparedness of the population. The second part of the paper deals with the analysis of extraordinary events and crisis situations around the world. The impact of emergencies on healthcare facilities is described in this part. The third part of the thesis deals with the emergency survival of the population. The following part describes the methods used in this research. The heuristic analysis of preparedness is one of the most valuable methods. The next section presents the results of the work according to the chosen method. In this section, we will find the strengths and weaknesses of the evaluated medical facilities. At the end of the thesis is proposed a new module for evaluation of medical facilities. This module can be applied as part of crisis management information systems
