Audiences, Intertextuality and New Media Literacy
This article explores intertextuality as a technique that can be used to bridge old and new media literacies for teachers and students who hope to move beyond the textbook model of instruction into a world of online resources, flexible pedagogies and innovative designs for learning. These include the uses of online archives, media studies techniques, participatory knowledge creation, and multimedia analysis and production.Radio-Television-Fil

DEVELOPMENT OF VARIABLE ETHANOL SUBSIDY AND COMPARISON WITH THE FIXED SUBSIDY
The federal government currently subsidizes ethanol with a fixed payment of 0.51 fixed subsidy was applied. When using historic gasoline and corn prices from the last ten years, the variable rate subsidy cost the government nearly 40% less than the flat rate subsidy. Profit received by producers on average is a little less; however, producer’s risk is lower with the variable subsidy than the flat rate subsidy.Ethanol, variable subsidy, energy policy, ethanol economics

Non-Contiguous Pattern Avoidance in Binary Trees
In this paper we consider the enumeration of binary trees avoiding
non-contiguous binary tree patterns. We begin by computing closed formulas for
the number of trees avoiding a single binary tree pattern with 4 or fewer
leaves and compare these results to analogous work for contiguous tree
patterns. Next, we give an explicit generating function that counts binary
trees avoiding a single non-contiguous tree pattern according to number of
leaves. In addition, we enumerate binary trees that simultaneously avoid more
than one tree pattern. Finally, we explore connections between pattern-avoiding
trees and pattern-avoiding permutations.Comment: 21 pages, 2 figures, 1 tabl
Economic and Technical Analysis of Ethanol Dry Milling: MOdel User's Manual
Using the DM model is not complex: the user changes input values of interest (plant size, conversion rates, etc.) and examines the effect of these changes on output values (annual profits, feed stock requirements, etc.). There are nine worksheets in four modules in the excel workbook- assumptions, process, economics, and technology assessment. All user inputs are entered in the assumptions module of the model, which consists of three worksheets denoted with bright yellow tabs: process assumptions, economic assumptions and physical assumptions. The values that are entered on this page are then used in each of the subsequent modules to calculate hourly flow rates, equipment size and cost, total costs, loan terms, and annual profits. At the top of each page is a title bar which describes the page, the color coding of the cells, and pertinent information from the other pages. Before each of the pages is discussed, an explanation of the different types of cells in the model is in order.model user's manual
