Taxonomic results of the Bryotrop expedition to Zaire and Rwanda : 29., Thuidiaceae, Thuidium
For a revision of the African species see Touw (1976). The scarcity of Thuidium samples among the expedition’s collections is most surprising and inexplicable, considering the size of the expedition, the range of habitats and altitudes explored, and the many Thuidium collections made by others in this part of Africa
Policing in Ontario: Financial Impacts and Opportunities
This paper examines police forces across Canada and the United States in an effort to determine why there are such large discrepancies in per capita policing costs between Ontario and North American comparators. While there are obvious differences between the various states, provinces, and territories in North America, and not all are similar to Ontario, all jurisdictions were nonetheless assessed and compared with the expectation that the variances might help to explain the figures for per capita police cost. The data was collected from a variety of sources, including Statistics Canada and the U.S. Census Bureau, as well as various books, journals, and professional organizations. The findings reveal that the factors that proved to have a statistical relevance to per capita policing costs were the number of law enforcement officers and the geographic area of a jurisdiction, with the conclusions applying to Ontario as a whole
Additional notes on Neckeropsis : 3., On the identity of Thamnium quisumbingii Veloira
The diagnosis and illustration Veloira (1959) published of her new species Thamnium quisumbingii have made me assume that the species might in fact belong to Neckeropsis. This assumption proved to be correct upon the examination of an isotype present in E.B. Bartram’s herbarium. The plants represent a rather unusual form of Neckeropsis boniana (Besch.) Touw et Ochyra
