Equal-area method for scalar conservation laws

We study one-dimensional conservation law. We develop a simple numerical method for computing the unique entropy admissible weak solution to the initial problem. The method basis on the equal-area principle and gives the solution for given time directly.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figure

Travelling Habits and Perceived Limitations of Older City Bus Users

    Get PDF
The purpose was to investigate the interrelation between the age of older city bus users, their travelling habits, their estimated physical (dis)abilities and perceived safety during the trip using the Ljubljana public transportation system. Methods: 101 older bus users agreed to participate in a street survey by answering a questionnaire. Results indicate that the habits of bus users are not age dependent. The frequency of public bus use, the walking distance to the nearest bus stop, the estimated physical abilities and perceived physical limitations of the bus users were not associated to the chronological age. Respondents reported on average 3±1.6 perceived physical limitations and 37% of them perceived their travelling habits to be affected by their physical limitations. While decreased perceived safety during the bus journey was significantly related to the chronological age: significantly more bus users of the oldest-old group reported not having enough time to occupy a seat before the bus drove off, although a significantly higher proportion of older-old adults were offered a seat by their fellow travellers. In conclusion, the perception of physical fitness and health problems are more important contributing factors for the use of public transportation than the chronological age.</p

Re-routing Multicast Connections: A Distributed Approach

    Get PDF
In virtual-circuit environments that provide a multicast capability, fixed routing algorithms provide solutions that are only efficient initially and for a short time due to dynamic nature of network environments. We propose a re-routing algorithm that continuously rearranges the topology of the initial connection, in response to changes in the destination set and network status. The re-routing algorithm is cost effective and minimally disruptive to the multicast session. It is based on a modified Steiner tree improvement technique, and it has been designed purposely to meet the requirements for distributed implementation in communications networks where only partial information is available to routing nodes

Spatial potential for tourism development in Šentrupert municipality

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to present the issues of counrtyside development and to present alternative possibilities to preserve the countryside. In first, theoretical part, there are defined conceptions such as tourism, recreation and countryside. There are presented problems in countryside development and influences and effects of tourism development on the countryside. Countryside tourism is also presented as one of possible solutions for preserving Slovenian countryside. First presented in practical part are results of inquiry analysis, that was done among members (also inhabitants) of parish Šentrupert. Further are particulary presented characteristics of the town and potentials that could enable development of tourism in this area. We have found out that parish of Šentrupert has good potentials for tourism development and based on inquiry it is evident that, considering largeness of the parish, there are people who would like to occupy themselves with tourism. In the end there is a map that was done based on analysis and is presenting proposition about regulation of this area for tourist purposes

Starter cultures for the production of mild yoghurt

Starterske kulture za jogurt z nizko kislino so kombinacija različnih sevov tipičnih vrst bakterij jogurtove kulture, Streptococcus thermophilus in Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus. Bakteriji živita v sožitju in dodani v mleko sprožita mlečnokislinsko fermentacijo in nastanek fermentiranega mleka ustreznih senzoričnih lastnosti, kot so stabilna tekstura in prijeten okus jogurta. Starter cultures for mild yoghurt are a combination of various strains of the typical bacteria of the yogurt culture, Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus. These two species live in coexistence and when added to milk trigger lactic acid fermentation and formation of fermented milk of appropriate sensory properties, such as stable texture and pleasant taste. The textural attributes depend on composition of milk and production of exopolysaccharides (EPS) by yoghurt bacteria, whereas lactic acid, acetaldehyde and diacetyl represent some of the most characteristic flavour components that are produced during lactic acid fermentation. For the purpose of producing mild yoghurt, producers of starter cultures offer mixes of yoghurt bacteria that give yoghurt high viscosity and mild taste. This kind of yoghurt is more popular among inhabitants of the Western countries, who are used to milder taste. At the same time the sweet taste of the product also allows a lower addition of sugar in fruit yogurt, which is in accordance with the guidelines of healthy eating
