New results on Higgs boson properties

We present the latest ATLAS and CMS measurements of several properties of the Higgs boson, such as signal-strength modifiers for the main production modes, fiducial and differential cross sections, and the Higgs mass. We have analyzed the 13 TeV proton-proton LHC collision data recorded in 2016, corresponding to integrated luminosities up to 36.1 fb−136.1~{\rm fb}^{-1}. Results for the H→ZZ→4ℓ{\rm H\to ZZ}\to 4\ell (ℓ=eμ{\rm \ell = e\mu}), H→γγ{\rm H}\to\gamma\gamma, and H→ττ{\rm H}\to\tau\tau decay channels are presented. In addition, searches for new phenomena in the H→γγ+ETmiss{\rm H}\to\gamma\gamma + E_{\rm T}^{\rm miss} and H→bbˉ+ETmiss{\rm H}\to{\rm b\bar{b}} + E_{\rm T}^{\rm miss} decay channels are presented

B Mixing and Lifetimes at the Tevatron

The Tevatron collider at Fermilab provides a very rich environment for the study of b-hadrons. Both the D0 and CDF experiments have collected a sample of about 1 fb^{-1}. We report results on three topics: b-hadron lifetimes, polarization amplitudes and the decay width difference in Bs to Jpsi Phi, and Bs mixing.Comment: Flavor Physics & CP Violation Conference, Vancouver, 200

Hironaka's characteristic polygon and effective resolution of surfaces

    Get PDF
Hironaka's concept of characteristic polyhedron of a singularity has been one of the most powerful and fruitful ideas of the last decades in singularity theory. In fact, since then combinatorics have become a major tool in many important results. However, this seminal concept is still not enough to cope with some effective problems: for instance, giving a bound on the maximum number of blowing--ups to be performed on a surface before its multiplicity decreases. This short note shows why such a bounding is not possible, at least with the original definitions.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur

Entry regulation and business start-ups : evidence from Mexico

    Get PDF
The authors estimate the effect on business start-ups of a program that significantly speeds up firm registration procedures. The program was implemented in Mexico in different municipalities at different dates. Authors estimates suggest that new start-ups increased by about 4 percent in eligible industries, and the authors present evidence that this is a causal effect. Most of the effect is temporary, concentrated in the first 10 months after implementation. The effect is robust to several specifications of the benchmark control group time trends. The authors find that the program was more effective in municipalities with less corruption and cheaper additional procedures.Corporate Law,Microfinance,Regional Governance,Urban Governance and Management,Urban Partnerships&Poverty
