The issue of"an appropriate"legal framework, especially in the case of the takeover market, has been poorly studied in the case of emerging markets, yet it is of immediate relevance and practical policymaker interest. The study makes a first attempt to analyze takeover regulations in a comparative context across 50 countries. It proposes a methodology to create a detailed index on the most salient features of capital market laws, and illustrates the approach on the case of takeover legislation. The methodology allows better understanding of the impact of laws on markets and development, allows a detailed quantification of a given regulation, in this casetakeover market rules, and helps determine relevant policy implications. Specifically, the framework permits the exploration of the effects of individual regulations, their substitutability and interplay, as well as the overall extent of friendliness of the laws to investors, or particular groups thereof (such as minority shareholders), and the links of specialized regulation with the overall legal system. Finally, the study explores the effect of the investor-friendliness of takeover laws on stock market development.Corporate Law,Economic Theory&Research,Investment and Investment Climate,Markets and Market Access,Small Scale Enterprise

Working capacity and return to the labor market of patients with endoprosthesis

    Get PDF
Musculoskeletal conditions are common among all age groups and present a serious risk of aggravation in quality of life, especially in patients of working age. In this context, endoprosthesis and the concomitant early kinesitherapy at the appropriate time in the life of the patient with musculoskeletal disorder offer an opportunity for a positive change in the quality of life. The aim of the study is to compare the course of the recovery period, the possibilities of premature workload, return to daily life and working capacity after hip arthroplasty in middle-aged patients. The subject of this paper are the changes in the functional tests of the patients after hip endoprothesis with an individual femur and induviduals with conventional hip replacement, who have undergone kinesitherapy treatment. Anthorpometric and statistical methods are the basis of the research methodology. The developed and applied kinesitherapy methodology in patients with individual femoral stem proves better functional results after its application in cases of patients of working age

AV Fistula—the Gold Standard for the Adequacy of Hemodialysis Treatment and Achieved Quality of life in Patients with ESRD

Hemodialysis treatment (HD) is the most common form of renal replacement therapy in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The quantification of the dialysis dose is an essential element in the treatment of patients on chronic dialysis as it has a major impact on morbidity, mortality and quality of life. Optimal blood flow ≄300 mL/min—respectively, effective vascular access—has been found to provide both an adequate dialysis dose and is associated with a lower complication rate, lower annual hospitalizations, lower morbidity, and lower mortality. At the Clinic of Nephrology and Dialysis at St. Marina University Hospital in Varna, we researched and demonstrated the effect of the type of permanent vascular access on the dialysis dose received and the quality of life achieved, and we discovered that patients with native AVF get more effective treatment the higher the dialysis dose received, with better control of anemic syndrome, significantly lower frequency of annual hospitalizations, and lower lethality

ANALYSIS OF GLYCOGEN RESERVE OF PATIENTS WITH ACUTE VIRAL HEPATITIS BY GLUCAGONE TEST

    Get PDF
The results of glucagone test carried out on 10 patients with acute viral hepatitis (AVH) were presented and discussed. A delayed glucose liver release was established that indicated the disturbed glycogenosis (destructed membrane structures and enzyme dysfunction) along with reduced glycogen amounts in AVH. A decreased intensity of insulin response to glucagone stimulation was found out. The importance of the incorporation of the glucagone test into liver function evaluation in AVH was demonstrated

Transient parotitis in the course of clozapine treatment: a case report and review of the literature

Introduction: Clozapine is an atypical antipsychotic, treatment of choice for patients unresponsive to, or intolerant of other antipsychotic drugs. While most of the adverse effects of clozapine are well discussed in the literature, clozapine-induced parotitis emerges as an uncommon complication, which clinicians should be aware of.Aim: The aim of this report is, by illustrating a case of clozapine-induced parotitis and reviewing the literature on the topic, to bring awareness of the occurrence of this potential adverse effect of clozapine treatment.Case Presentation: Due to poor response to several adequate trials with different antipsychotic medications a 57-year-old female with schizoaffective disorder was initiated on clozapine in 2008. The psychiatric condition of the patient notably improved in the following years. In 2016, after a decrease in her psychotropic therapy, the patient was hospitalized, and while restoring treatment with clozapine and divalproex she complained of increased salivation combined with painful bilateral parotid enlargement. The diagnosis of clozapine-induced parotitis was suggested. The medical condition had a favorable outcome within five days after administration of symptomatic medication. Conclusion: Adherence to drug treatment in psychiatric patients can be significantly improved if patients are well informed about the potential adverse effects of the administered medications and if the clinicians recognize and try to resolve them. Monitoring both common and rare adverse effects of clozapine treatment will give patients a chance of better therapy management

Evaluation of Dialysis Adequacy in Real Time by Ionic Dialysis—Reliability and Comparability of the Method

Despite the progress made, the unsatisfactory results in the growing population of dialysis patients show that improved patient care is still not enough to increase survival and quality of life. The question of the need to improve hemodialysis therapies, which has been the subject of research and discussion for many years, remains relevant. Dialysis adequacy and the need for its quantitative measurement have been the subject of discussions since the dawn of hemodialysis treatment. It should be borne in mind that it is most often monitored once a month and by standards in some countries—every three months, and, based on the value obtained for the dialysis session, it is assumed that the result is representative of urea clearance of the entire dialysis. Measurement of dialysis adequacy is now achievable for each dialysis session without the need for additional blood tests and the results are available in real time using the ionic dialysis method, which registers the difference in sodium ionic conductivity at the inlet and outlet of the dialyzer of the dialysis dose delivered. A total of 128 measurements of the delivered dialysis dose by ionic dialysis and classical urea-kinetic modeling were performed at 32 chroniodialysis patients at the Clinic of Nephrology and Dialysis at the St. Marina University Hospital in Varna for a period of one year to assess the reliability and comparability of both methodologies, as well as the development of new therapeutic strategies with a view to improving the outcome

Oral manifestations consistent with chronic kidney disease

    Get PDF
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition defined by the progressive loss of renal function and damaging, in the course of months or years. Its rising incidence on a global scale compels doctors of dental medicine to be aware of the oral manifestations and symptoms affecting the soft and hard dental tissues, which are related to the underlying condition or its treatment. The objective of this review is to look into the oral changes affecting some of the patients with terminal kidney failure receiving chronic dialysis treatment
