    Ground states of holographic superconductors

We investigate the ground states of the Abelian Higgs model in AdS_4 with various choices of parameters, and with no deformations in the ultraviolet other than a chemical potential for the electric charge under the Abelian gauge field. For W-shaped potentials with symmetry-breaking minima, an analysis of infrared asymptotics suggests that the ground state has emergent conformal symmetry in the infrared when the charge of the complex scalar is large enough. But when this charge is too small, the likeliest ground state has Lifshitz-like scaling in the infrared. For positive mass quadratic potentials, Lifshitz-like scaling is the only possible infrared behavior for constant nonzero values of the scalar. The approach to Lifshitz-like scaling is shown in many cases to be oscillatory.Comment: 36 pages, 7 figure

    Strategic Outsourcing through Specifications

    Get PDF
Outsourcing is one of the top priorities on the strategic agenda of Original Equipment Manufacturers [OEMs] in many industries. The decision of outsourcing an activity as opposed to doing it in-house and the development of a part or parts system is one of the most complex decisions facing today's industrial managers. Several models have been developed in order to aid in this process. The present paper analyses some of these models, and proposes an extension based on the role that specifications might play in outsourcing decisions. Based on how the specification is generated and on the nature of the data it contains, it can be of significant help in outsourcing decisions. The research reported in the paper is based on a longitudinal study of one automotive OEM [global family], one truck OEM and four medium sized expert supplier, all located in Europe. A procurement matrix is developed in which guidance for outsourcing decisions is provided in terms of specification generator, type of supplier, and contract relationship.Outsourcing; Specifications; collaboration; automotive industry

Mimicking the QCD equation of state with a dual black hole

We present numerical and analytical studies of the equation of state of translationally invariant black hole solutions to five-dimensional gravity coupled to a single scalar. As an application, we construct a family of black holes that closely mimics the equation of state of quantum chromodynamics at zero chemical potential.Comment: 25 pages, 7 figure

The quantization of exotic states in SU(3) soliton models: A solvable quantum mechanical analog

The distinction between the rigid rotor and Callan-Klebanov approaches to the quantization of SU(3) solitons is considered in the context of exotic baryons. A numerically tractable quantum mechanical analog system is introduced to test the reliability of the two quantization schemes. We find that in the equivalent of the large N_c limit of QCD, the Callan-Klebanov approach agrees with a numerical solution of the quantum mechanical analog. Rigid rotor quantization generally does not. The implications for exotic baryons are briefly discussed.Comment: 8 pages; 3 figures; minor corrections; reference adde

Method development and validation of aspirin and clopidogrel pharmaceutical dosage forms by developing new RP HPLC method

    Get PDF
A simple and selective LC method is described for the determination of Aspirin and Clopidogrel in tablet dosage forms. Chromatographic separation was achieved on a c18 column along with mobile phase consisting of a combination of fifty five volumes of Mixed Phosphate Buffer and forty five volumes of Acetonitrile with detection of 235 nm. Linearity was observed in the range 20-60 μg/ml for Aspirin (r2=0.998) and 10-30 μg /ml for Clopidogrel (r2 =0.998) for the amount of drugs estimated by the projected ways was in smart agreement with the label claim. The proposed methods were validated. The accuracy of the methods was assessed by recovery studies at three different levels. Recovery experiments indicated the absence of interference from commonly encountered pharmaceutical additives. The method was found to be precise as indicated by the repeatability analysis, showing %RSD trials. All statistical data proves validity of the ways and may be used for routine analysis of pharmaceutical dosage form

A prospective randomised double-blinded study of intranasal midazolam atomizer spray for procedural sedation in paediatric patients

Background: Premedication prior to anaesthesia in children provides anxiolysis, facilitates parenteral separation and lessens adverse psychological effects on young minds. The present study was designed to study the safety, acceptability and degree of sedation by intranasal midazolam spray in children undergoing short procedures like endoscopy and CT scan. Methods: Sixty children scheduled for CT scan or endoscopy were randomly divided in to two groups. Thirty patients received intranasal midazolam spray 0.2 mg/kg, 20 minutes prior to procedure (group M) while other thirty patients received intra-nasal 0.9% normal saline spray (group C). Vital parameters such as heart rate (HR), systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respiratory rate (RR), SpO2, ramsay sedation score (RSS) and anxiety score level was observed and recorded prior to the premedication and then every 5 minutes till the end of the procedure. Parenteral separation and behaviour of the patient while entering the procedure room was also evaluated in both groups. Results: The mean heart rate, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation were comparable between groups M and C. The mean diastolic blood pressure was significantly lower in group M as compared to group C. RSS and anxiety level score achieved were significantly higher in group M thereby facilitating easy parenteral separation. Conclusions: We can thereby say that administration of preservative free intranasal midazolam atomizer spray in dose of 0.2mg/kg as premedication in paediatric patients produces satisfactory level of sedation and anxiolysis with minimal adverse effects

A novel RP – HPLC methodology for method development and validation of aceclofenac and tizanidine pharmaceutical dosage forms

A simple and selective LC technique is chosen for the determination of Aceclofenac and Tizanidine in pill indefinite quantity forms. Chromatographic process separation was achieved on a c18 column victimization mobile part consisting of a combination of fifty volumes of Triethylamine buffer, fifty volumes of acetonitrile with detection of 230nm. Dimensionality was discovered within the vary 5-15 µg/ml for aceclofenac (r2 =0.999) and 1-3 µg /ml for tizanidine (r2 =0.998) for the number of medicine calculable by the planned strategies was in smart agreement with the label claim. The planned strategies have a sound procedure. At three completely different levels the accuracy of the strategies was assessed by recovery studies. The recovery experiments indicated the absence of interference from unremarkably encountered pharmaceutical additives showing %RSD below a pair of this technique was found to be precise as indicated by the repeatability analysis. All applied mathematics information proves all ways have valid procedure and might be used for routine analysis of pharmaceutical dose kin
