Learning to transform: The pillar that reshapes education
[EN] Education is the key in mankindâs journey towards a free, just, and peaceful
world; nevertheless, education policies fail to make the top of the lists
containing government priorities. Taking into account Jacques Delorsâ
approach regarding the Four Pillars of Education, which appeared for the
first time on the 1991 UNESCO Report, and in an attempt to address the
need for socially-responsible global citizens, this paper looks at learning to
transform as an additional pillar that can help anchor the educational
experience in all aspects of the personâs life. The article explores the function
of education, revises Delorsâ contribution, attempts to define the renewed
spirit of transformation, and explores learning to transform in four distinct
stages: learn, reason, act, and reflect. It is through transformation and selftransformation that the learner can alternatively become a teacher while
forging relations in groups of people.Montaudon-Tomas, I.; Montaudon-Tomas, C. (2020). Learning to transform: The pillar that reshapes education. Editorial Universitat PolitĂšcnica de ValĂšncia. 1-259. https://doi.org/10.4995/INN2019.2019.10141OCS125
High temperature composite overview in France
Exactly 40 years after the first production of a high temperature composite material in France, this presentation recalls the history of the development of the related technologies and applications.
We will describe how, under the leadership of Société Européenne de Propulsion (SEP) until 1994 and since then of the SAFRAN Group, different families of composites were successively developed and brought to an industrial stage: carbon fibers reinforced carbon, carbon fibers reinforced ceramic, ceramic fibers reinforced ceramics, reaching in 2017 a total volume of production of more than 1,000 metric tons per year.

Impact of different modelling approaches to evaluate public policies: the case of entrepreneurship in Central Mexico
Different approaches can be used to model public policies. These models may be useful to evaluate such programs. Several of them are explored and illustrated through different entrepreneurship initiatives implemented in Central Mexico
In Vivo Computed Tomography as a Research Tool to Investigate Asthma and COPD: Where Do We Stand?
Computed tomography (CT) is a clinical tool widely used to assess and followup asthma and chonic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in humans. Strong efforts have been made the last decade to improve this technique as a quantitative research tool. Using semiautomatic softwares, quantification of airway wall thickness, lumen area, and bronchial wall density are available from large to intermediate conductive airways. Skeletonization of the bronchial tree can be built to assess its three-dimensional geometry. Lung parenchyma density can be analysed as a surrogate of small airway disease and emphysema. Since resident cells involve airway wall and lung parenchyma abnormalities, CT provides an accurate and reliable research tool to assess their role in vivo. This litterature review highlights the most recent advances made to assess asthma and COPD with CT, and also their drawbacks and the place of CT in clarifying the complex physiopathology of both diseases
