Leptophilic dark matter from gauged lepton number: Phenomenology and gravitational wave signatures

New gauge symmetries often appear in theories beyond the Standard Model. Here we study a model where lepton number is promoted to a gauge symmetry. Anomaly cancellation requires the introduction of additional leptons, the lightest of which is a natural leptophilic dark matter candidate. We perform a comprehensive study of both collider and dark matter phenomenology. Furthermore we find that the model exhibits a first order lepton number breaking phase transition in large regions of parameter space. The corresponding gravitational wave signal is computed, and its detectability at LISA and other future GW detectors assessed. Finally we comment on the complementarity of dark matter, collider and gravitational wave observables, and on the potential reach of future colliders.Comment: 36 pages + appendix, 24 figures. Business failure and change: an Australian perspective

„h Contrary to common perceptions, most Australian businesses survive for a considerable time ¡V for example, around two¡Vthirds of businesses are still operating after five years and almost one¡Vhalf are still operating after ten years. „h Around 7.5 per cent of businesses exit each year ¡V cessations account for around 80 per cent of exits (changes in ownership account for the remainder) ¡V but most exits are not firm failures. „h Each year, cessations account for, at most, between 9¡V10 per cent of total job losses and 3¡V4 per cent of GDP ¡V however, in net terms, these impacts are outweighed by the corresponding gains from new business start¡Vups. „h Less than 0.5 per cent of businesses exit each year due to ¡¥catastrophic¡¦ failure (bankruptcy or liquidation). Politics, populism, and professionalism: Reflections on the role of the academic historian in the production of public history

This article explores some of the challenges and opportunities facing academic historians involved in large British public history projects and examines how government priorities and the particular ways in which public funds are deployed can affect the critical intellectual content of such projects.
