The aim of the present study is to examine the internet addiction levels of university students in terms of the state of doing sport and different variables. A total of 300 students, 132 male and 168, studying in Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University participated in the study. Internet Addiction Scale which was developed by Günüç and Kayri (2010) and which had four sub-dimensions (withdrawal, controlling difficulty, disorder in functionality and social isolation) was used. SPSS 22.0 program was used for the statistical analysis. Significance was found in the sub-dimensions of withdrawal and social isolation in terms of the variable of gender (p<0.05) and in the sub-dimension of social isolation in terms of the variables of faculty and the state of doing sport regularly (p<0.05). It can be seen that internet addiction levels were similar in all sub-dimensions except for social isolation, while they were found to be different in the sub-dimension of withdrawal in terms of the variable of gender. This result is thought to be associated with the fact that students who do sport regularly and those attending sport sciences faculty are not exposed to social isolation due to sport and that they lead more social lives when compared with the students of other faculties. In terms of the variable of gender, it is thought that the reason why female students had higher withdrawal levels can be due to the fact that men can act more comfortably in social life

Evolution involves developmental change. Species comparisons play an important role in comparative cognition because they can uncover common patterns and shared principles in cognitive evolution. Developmental studies reveal foundational elements of cognitive abilities and how they are constructed and integrated. Sensorimotor cognition is such a key element that forms the foundation for later-developing cognitive skills, yet little is known about its development in animals. This study uses 37 behaviors and tasks to investigate the development of Piagetian sensorimotor abilities in five young ravens (Corvus corax) from ages two to eleven weeks. Their developmental pattern largely mirrored that of twelve other bird and mammal species, albeit at a markedly accelerated rate. They reached the final sensorimotor stage, which to date has been shown only in great apes. The onset and sequence of sensorimotor development was identical for all species. Absolute number of neurons in the pallium and rest of brain was associated with achieving a higher stage across these species. This was not the case for absolute or relative brain mass, or number of neurons in the cerebellum or whole brain. We discuss the independent evolution of sensorimotor cognition and the importance of developmental pace and pattern therein. These findings show that the study of sensorimotor development is a useful tool for comparative cognition research

In order to easily adapt a firm to the changing conditions, one should periodically evaluate the firm in terms of critical performance criteria and apply a process of continuous improvement. Taking the right actions for the firm with the light of these assessments is an important factor in gaining advantage against the competitors of the firm. This study concerns about the development of performance measurement systems, the characteristics and classifications of performance measures, and the relationship between continuous improvement and performance measures.

Background: Children and adolescents display different symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) than adults. Whilst evidence for the effectiveness of psychological interventions has been synthesised for adults, this is not directly applicable to younger people. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis synthesised studies investigating the effectiveness of psychological interventions for PTSD in children, adolescents and young adults. It provides an update to previous reviews investigating interventions in children and adolescents, whilst investigating young adults for the first time. / Methods: We searched published and grey literature to obtain randomised control trials assessing psychological interventions for PTSD in young people published between 2011 and 2019. Quality of studies was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Data were analysed using univariate random-effects meta-analysis. / Results: From 15 373 records, 27 met criteria for inclusion, and 16 were eligible for meta-analysis. There was a medium pooled effect size for all psychological interventions (d = −0.44, 95% CI −0.68 to −0.20), as well as for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) (d = −0.30, 95% CI −0.58 to −0.02); d = −0.46, 95% CI −0.81 to −0.12). / Conclusions: Some, but not all, psychological interventions commonly used to treat PTSD in adults were effective in children, adolescents and young adults. Interventions specifically adapted for younger people were also effective. Our results support the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines which suggest children and adolescents be offered TF-CBT as a first-line treatment because of a larger evidence base, despite EMDR being more effective

A wireless geolocation system for use in a WCDMA network was simulated in Matlab. In such a system, the multipath delays have a significant effect on the mobile location estimate.Ü si ul nk end-to-end model was created according to WCDMA system specifications, where the pilot signal was spread using 28400-chip complex Gold spreading and passed through a shaping filter. The effects of multipath fading and noise was added. The received signal was passed through a receive filter and correlated with the mobile station's locally generated Gold code to find the multipath delay. The mobile location was estimated using a hyperbolic time-difference-of-arrival approach. The estimation error was calculated for various environments and channel models and found to be less than 20m for the suburban ATDMA model and less than 110m for the rural CODIT model, which is acceptable considering that one chip time corresponds to 78 m. For comparison, the former WCDMA specification of 40960-chip spreading was evaluated and an error of less than 100m was obtained for the COST-231 suburban model using the CODIT Macro Channel where one chip time corresponds to 73m. This asynchronous system was found to be a satisfactory geolocation system for WCDMA under the given conditions

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of miR150 transfection on NK-like cells differentiated from adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs). Methods: NK-like cells were differentiated from AD-MSCs and activated by miR150 transfection. Transfected/non-transfected NK-like cells were characterized by immunohistochemical and RTPCR analyzes. Apoptotic efficiency of the transfected/non-transfected NK-like cells on pancreatic cancer cells PANC1 were determined by TUNEL and RT-PCR. Results: In miR150-transfected cells, the increased expression of NK cell-specific genes such as GZMB, KIR2DL2, CD16, CD56, NKG2D, NKp46 and increased immunoreactivity of NK cell-specific surface marker CD314 (NKG2D) were evident. TUNEL assays showed that NK-like cells with/without transfection induced apoptosis in PANC1 cells in the same manner. The decrease in oncogene expression and the increase in the tumor suppressor gene expression in PANC1 cells upon co-culture with NK-like cells differentiated from AD-MSCs were more prominent following miRNA150 transfection. Conclusion: It was shown in vitro that NK-like cells could be obtained by differentiation from AD-MSCs and their efficiency could be increased via miR150 transfection. The results are encouraging for further clinical studies in improvement of immunotherapeutic approaches for cancer therapy

The purpose of this study is to find out and compare the factors effective in brand preferences of the students of Ondokuz Mayıs University Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sport Sciences in Turkey and Instituto Politecnico da Guarda Faculty of Sports in Portugal in terms of sports products. 266 students (170 male, 96 female) attending sports faculties in Turkey and Portugal participated in this study. A questionnaire about the sports products preferences developed by Tozoğlu (2009) was used in order to find out the brand preferences of students. Student t-test was used to determine whether there is a significant difference between sport faculty students in Portugal and in Turkey. Chi square analysis was used to find out whether the students’ reasons for preferring a brand differed in terms of the schools, they were attending. Differences were found between the factors that affected the brand preferences of the students of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sport Sciences and Instituto Politecnico da Guarda (IPG) Faculty of Sports in sports products. It was found that when compared with the students of IPG, students of OMU preferred brands since they provided quality guarantee, they were indicators of status and they gave a sense of security. It was found that students of OMU and IPG paid attention to the price while buying a brand product. Turkish students were found to be more dependent on brands when compared with Portuguese students. In addition, the price factor in the purchase of branded products is becoming a common element of the students of both countries. The tendency towards branded sporting products can manifest itself in increasing or decreasing proportions relative to advertising and promotional activities. The management of this orientation as a healthy process can be achieved by the effects of planned school education on the cultural structure.  Article visualizations
