On the small redshift limit of steady states of the spherically symmetric Einstein-Vlasov system and their stability

Families of steady states of the spherically symmetric Einstein-Vlasov system are constructed, which are parametrized by the central redshift. It is shown that as the central redshift tends to zero, the states in such a family are well approximated by a steady state of the Vlasov-Poisson system, i.e., a Newtonian limit is established where the speed of light is kept constant as it should be and the limiting behavior is analyzed in terms of a parameter which is tied to the physical properties of the individual solutions. This result is then used to investigate the stability properties of the relativistic steady states with small redshift parameter in the spirit of recent work by the same authors, i.e., the second variation of the ADM mass about such a steady state is shown to be positive definite on a suitable class of states

Global stability of steady states in the classical Stefan problem

The classical one-phase Stefan problem (without surface tension) allows for a continuum of steady state solutions, given by an arbitrary (but sufficiently smooth) domain together with zero temperature. We prove global-in-time stability of such steady states, assuming a sufficient degree of smoothness on the initial domain, but without any a priori restriction on the convexity properties of the initial shape. This is an extension of our previous result [28] in which we studied nearly spherical shapes.Comment: 14 pages. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1212.142

Agnosticism and Atheism as Amoralism and Anti-Ideological Sociopolitical Paradigm in the Balkans, Specifically in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The study investigates whether atheism in B&H is treated, a priori, as amoralism and how this affects plural civic space. If religion is privileged, is it a politically dictated value system or pure ideology? Besides in-depth critical literature review, the author refers to a number of structural interviews focusing on both groups (theists and agnostic atheists) as a direct indicator of variability. The B&H Constitution obstructs the creation of a plural civic identity, hypostasizes the collective political mentality, and stigmatizes atheism and agnosticism in everyday life. Spiritual usurpation has moved into the realm of identity. The ideological ethnonationalism has metastasized into a social organization\u27s daily political discourse that produces uncritical subjects in all three constitutive ethnic governments. Theism, for many in the Balkans, has transformed from a sui generis sociocultural phenomenon into a sociopolitical phenomenon. The loudest defenders of atheism are some believers who dissent from the three national interest political model\u27s status quo. The number of individual needs, and the real impossibilities of their satisfaction, imply the necessary cooperation of the social community members. A believer who questions the possibility of an atheist\u27s universal validity as a moral man denies the believers\u27 chance of becoming a true believer

The Politicization of Religion and the Sacralized Balkan Nations Regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina

Ethnic, national, and confessional affiliation in ex-Yugoslavia add to political radicalization. As a form of political power, politicized religions are, psychologically speaking, unconscious non-faith. Due to new national-state theoretical inadequacy, (i.e., nationalism as an ideology), religion is used as an instrument of socialization and legitimization of new national-political state subjects. When nation and religion become “controversial” identification and mark others as potentially dangerous, through a policy that allegedly aims to affirm and protect its people and their faith, then in local historical and current circumstances, it essentially implies antagonism in the most dramatic conflicts. The historical revisionism and the memory of the evil developed into a behavioral practice

Role of DeNOx Catalyst in PCDD/F Emission Reduction in Hazardous Waste Incineration (HWI) Plant

On the basis of nine periodical measurements, emissions of PCDD/F have been analysed. As a result, a correlation was detected between elevated PCDD/F emissions and operational problems with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. The air pollution control system (APCS) consisted of dry scrubbing system (mixture of active carbon and NaHCO3), fabric filter, DeNOx catalyst and wet scrubber. It was assumed that such a state-of-the-art system should be able to achieve dioxin emission limit of 0.1 ng Nm–3 I-TEQ, even without DeNOx catalyst. However, this expectation proved to be wrong. The presence of memory effect was recognized as the possible cause of elevated PCDD/F emissions. During normal operational periods presence of memory effect was not noticed, due to selective catalytic reduction system. With malfunction of DeNOx catalyst, this effect escalated, causing elevated PCDD/F emissions

    Star dynamics: Collapse vs. expansion

We review a series of recent results on global dynamic properties of radially symmetric self-gravitating compressible Euler flows, which naturally arise in the mathematical description of stars. We focus on the role of scaling invariances and how they interact with nonlinearities to generate imploding finite-time singularities as well as expanding star solutions, arising from smooth initial data. THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS IN MEASURING ECONOMIC GROWTH IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Economic growth is one of the most important concepts in the world economy. Although some authors critically believe that the level and rates of economic growth do not necessarily reflect the actual standard of living, it remains the main way to measure a country's well-being. Different views on the topic of economic growth, as well as the factors that influence it, have been present throughout the history of economic thought from the very beginning. Unlike many theories of economic growth, which believe that in the long run there will be diminishing returns on factors of production such as labor and capital, Paul Romer in his theory of endogenous growth believes that technological progress, through knowledge accumulation, idea creation, and innovation, leads to increasing returns, and thus contributes more to long-term economic growth, unlike other factors. In this paper, on the example of economic growth in B&H, it was tested the hypothesis that the activities of knowledge-based services contribute more to the gross domestic product, compared to other sectors. To prove the hypothesis, a multiple linear regression model was made based on a time series of 48 consecutive quarterly values of B&H gross domestic product and sectoral gross value-added according to the income and production approach. In the model, activities were grouped into those that are predominantly labor-intensive, knowledge-based services, personal and social services, and other activities. The results showed that the average value of gross value added per worker employed in the sectors of knowledge-based services has a 2.5 higher contribution compared to a worker in the labour-intensive sectors and a 2.47 higher contribution compared to one worker in the personal and social services segment. Also, tests of the implemented model show that additional employment in the sectors of knowledge-based services leads to accelerated economic growth in B&H.
